  1. Due to our coaching turnover, there is a big void in the Junior and Senior classes. Do you feel it is best for the University to play a bunch of Freshman and Sophomores and try to beat the likes of Toledo and OU? Or is it best to create some competition and depth with D1, 5th year transfers? Try to win some games in 2013 instead of 2015? How many offensive lines full of Freshman and Sophomores are competitive? The Zips have won 3 games in three seasons. K.e.n.t. did that in a month last season. A couple times. Did you see any of the back up QB's in the Spring? They were terrible. We need a 5th year guy to push Pohl, and as insurance if he falters or gets injured. One-and-done 5th year seniors are necessary for the Zips. Unless they want to win 3 more games...over the next 3 seasons...again. It has ZERO to do with Bowden's resume.
  2. His teammates. The University's basketball image (nationally-televised 40-point beat-down). The kids wearing the #11 jerseys around the JAR. Mid-season 5lb pot dealing (not just puffing) is a pretty selfish endeavor. It pretty-much forfeits your right to re-join the team. Too bad. His #11 would have eventually hung in the rafters.
  3. If Diggs sat out an entire season for a lesser alleged offense, no way Abreu steps foot in the JAR again without buying a ticket. There will be some desperate lower-level program that will take a flyer on him, if he chooses to continue playing basketball. But he will not be a Zip. Can anyone see Wistercill permitting a convicted 3rd degree felon on the team? The Zips are a perennial NCAA-caliber team, not a desperate bottom-feeder. The AA ship has sailed.
  4. McCray was caught up in a numbers game where FSU decided to go with youth. He wasn't substantially better than the youth, so FSU told him if he wanted to play, to move on. We will also be getting another FSU transfer (OL). And an OL from Wisconsin (with 2yrs immediate eligibility). And, potentially, a big OL from Pitt. CJ Mizell still has classwork to pass. Amato's #1 priority is to make sure he passes. 2 DL's from Colorado State are on their way. The Colorado QB is expected to give Pohl a run for his money.
  5. And in what appears to be a very slow month...we now have a leader for the coveted "Post of the Month" award. Get the case of Rice-a-Roni ready for shipment, Don Pardo.
  6. I wonder who has more career coaching wins, Keith Dambrot or Bill Walsh?
  7. I wonder if Dalton Williams will have a better career in Dallas than former QB Steve Walsh?
  8. Did you know that Minnesota Vikings rookie kicker Blair Walsh was 9-9 from 50+ this past season?
  9. What was Dan Basch's HS alma mater?
  10. Is Joe Walsh still with The Eagles?
  11. Talked to Brian today. He says his frosted tips are holding up well.
  12. It's just you. Some programs have a respectable following, but the vast majority do not.
  13. How long did it take Kest?
  14. Once the golf outing arrives, I start to get The Fever. And the only perscription is... MORE KYLE POHL!
  15. I recall back in the early 2000's the AK-Rowdies dressed up as K.e.n.t Stark students at the Akron-K.e.n.t. basketball game (@ K.e.n.t.). They sat in the K.e.n.t student section, high five-ing the "on-campus" students during warm ups. Then the Trojan Horse opened up. One of the best college pranks ever. Next year the Rowdies should dress as K.e.n.t. - East Liverpool students. Both of them.
  16. #gozipes Gotta luv it.
  17. Certainly shows the depth to which our football has sunk when Seth Cunningham is deemed a "star." And - I'm assuming a "water pipe" is a bong? Or did he rob a Home Depot? Guess the Tyler Campbell / Chris Jacquemain stories weren't much of a deterrent. Hope he doesn't meet the same fate in a couple years.
  18. Anyone with half a brain is excited to get a graduate BCS QB transfer. Our present back ups are not D1-A material. If we lost Pohl in week #1, there would be a very real chance of going 0-12 this year. With solid QB play, we can flirt with .500.
  19. If any of the Zips present back ups played for Colorado last season, I think you'd see completion percentages around 25%...including passes completed to members of the opposing team.
  20. I will not be able to make it. My 5-foot tall son (now, only a measly 2 feet shorter than Zeke) has a baseball game in Geauga County. I hope all involved have a great time, and Zeke gets the send-off he deserves. Please send my thanks to the big man for all the great memories. What a great representative of UA. Thanks to you as well, GameChanger. It takes a special parent to openly participate on a fan message board. I'm grateful for your insight and enthusiasm, and hope you've had some fun here. Don't be a stranger.
  21. Anyone at the spring game could tell we'd be 0-12 if any of the present back up QB's were starting. It was Charlie Frye being backed up by Micah Fahler and Jon Gill - Part II. Odd that this kid would leave a starting job in Colorado to be a back up for the Zips? The quote '71: "Hmmmm..."
  22. We lost 48-29. I was there. Late 90-yard pick-6 by Frye killed us. No need for Dr. Z to expose his rubix cubes.
  23. OMG! #FeartheOctogenarian
  24. I applaud the NCAA for the decision. The endless bombardment of schools groveling for social media interaction on the Jumbotron on game-days is enough. # is as overused as "Roo<insert whatever stupid suffix you want>". God Bless the NCAA for saving Sports Marketing Directors everywhere from themselves. At least TW will have an excuse for low attendance next year: "We woulda sold out every game, but the NCAA wouldn't let us put hashtags on the field. So we only drew 1,500 instead. Go Zips!"
