  1. So many new faces...so many new, key guys without even a spring practice to learn the system...it will be tough to legitimately expect much from Game #1. But talent-wise we are several notches above last season. If the OL can do a serviceable job, we have a puncher's chance to pull it off. D-line will be solid and deep. LB might be our biggest strength. And I like our corners. Defensively I don't have many concerns. Offensively...QB and WR are fine. Chisholm should be good for 100+ yards rushing in game one. But how soon can the 5th/6th year transfers gel on the OL? To me, that's the biggest question mark. Give Pohl time, and he'll deliver the goods. Kyle Pohl is The Truth.
  2. If you only have $60, and you land on Baltic Ave., you buy it.
  3. I'm dying to know how you'd promote Quincy Diggs this upcoming season.
  4. Amazing there are still 7 kids on the team that were recruited by Brookhart? Ritossa, Diorazio, Dillard, Alexander, Lio, Sconiers and Frieson.
  5. Good to see Brian Wagner back with the team.
  6. As Huggins players gradually departed, Crawford's teams eroded. It was a horrific era in Zips Basketball history.
  7. I expected to see more of the incoming transfer OL's atop this early depth chart? I wonder if this will change over the next 10 days? Also - odd not to hear Drew Phillips mentioned in the Bowden video as one of the potential return men. I have to believe they give him a shot at the job?
  8. If you want to complain about the guy's work, do it off the board. PM him. I'm sure he'll respond. If you do it here, it just looks like you're grandstanding. Which you are.
  9. Good man. What a crime that he's gone.
  10. 1:04...woo hoo! Making progress!
  11. Aaron Jackson has the photo of a lifetime. What I'd have given for a pic of me guarding Larry Bird in the low post back in '86.
  12. Who knew Riley Cooper followed Reggie McAdams on Instagram?
  13. I wonder if other MAC coaches are done after 32 seconds of video? I used to get several minutes of Ianello's BS thoughts...now I actually want to hear what my coach has to say, and I get 32 seconds.
  14. DALLAS -- Former Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Nate Newton says his competitive nature led him into the drug business. "I've always been competitive, I've always been in sports," said Newton, a six-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman who retired after the 2000 season. "I couldn't see myself not being the biggest dope man."
  15. I'm really excited about this kid. I love that he's busting big plays against college competition...not 11th graders. He fills a huge need for us as a game-breaking return man. In the backfield, does he remind me a bit of Brett Biggs? Not as thick, but he's a hard-running, north-south guy that gets to the endzone.
  16. Who amongst you could live up to BYU's conduct code? Drinking tea, huh?
  17. Man...his video is awesome...but can he consistently get 2 yards on the swing pass like the kid from Rittman?
  18. In the interest of full disclosure, let it be know that jupitertoo is a OU supporter. Not a Zips fan. For many years we could only dream of an ABJ reporter feeding relevant, real-time info to the fan base. Zips fans appreciate your work unconditionally.
  19. Honoring? Seriously? OMG
  20. He noted "the two Colorado State guys" would be eligible to play immediately.
  21. The pic of him in the Zips locker room, wearing a Zips helmet, is enough for me to believe he's on the team. Since he didn't play last season, he's eligible this season (I think I recall Bowden saying Capi would be eligible for 2013 when he spoke to us at the Golf Outing). If I were in Vegas I'd drop 50 bucks on the Zips to win the MAC this year. It's the MAC...and the Zips are a completely new, seemingly much more talented team in 2013. That's good enough for me to try 75:1.
  22. Zeke was at the JAR during the kid's basketball camp last week. That's about all I've got.
  23. My son played baseball in Akron the other day, and we stopped by the Rubber Bowl afterwards. The field actually looks pretty nice. The flora and occasional fauna busting through old fiberglass stands might make "The Shrubber Bowl" a more appropriate name in a few more years. Lots of great memories made along that airport fence...
  24. This "Dennis offer" was a big topic of discussion around the fire on Saturday night. The word that is spreading in my area is that Bill Dennis did in fact call in a favor. He is friends with one of the coaches on Akron's staff and the offer has 1 big stipulation. The kid can't accept it. Ha. What I'm hearing is that they offered him as a favor to try and generate some interest from other schools. I've followed college football for quite a while. I've never heard of such a thing.
  25. Did the NCAA make a ruling that 8th-year players with 3 degrees can transfer to a 1-AA program without penalty if they've played less than 6 games in their career?
