  1. What is the "AA/Dru Joyce mold"? Those guys are completely different players. AA = Lightning quick, pesky defense, dribble-penetration Joyce = Conservative ball handler, set-shot 3-pointer, relied on high basketball IQ to compensate for an otherwise ordinary skill-set. Ibitayo is much more in the "Dru Joyce mold" than AA.
  2. I think it will be interesting to see how Zeke fares against another physical inside big. Mavunga ate Zeke alive. We'll see what lessons were learned.
  3. They're like Ohio State's colors, so Joe Akron must like them?
  4. If you get information from a source, you should mention the source. It is about basic integrity. If the ABJ is used as a reference (on the show), it is specifically mentioned. The ABJ does not advertise on the program. Just because we promote University of Akron Athletics 24/7, 365 for free doesn't mean anyone should cite ZN.o information without due credit. I give the ABJ credit for mentioning our site when references are appropriate. Rasor has done it too. The others, including the PD...never.
  5. Harney plays >20 minutes, we win. Harney plays 20-or-less, Buffalo wins.
  6. Joe Dunn is petrified of internet news, and really goes out of his way to avoid any mention of our site. It's almost comical. He'll mention what "fans think," and then repeat something he read here. But he'll never mention ZipsNation. Hi Joe. Thanks for stopping in. Hope you enjoy our site, and the fact that we promote your show for free.
  7. We may need to combine "exactly's" and "no doubt about it's" if we want to catch a buzz?
  8. Isn't the game already sold-out? Roughly 5,500. Fire Marshall will not allow more.
  9. I figured Duquesne was the bad loss because it was on a neutral court, but you are right...there was no silver-lining to the MTSU butt-whippin'.
  10. Taking away nothing from his career accomplishments on the sidelines, it is unreal what a "pro" Bowden is in Sales/Marketing. Looking at past UA hirings, there was NOTHING that even remotely compares to the absolute blitz of fantastic information we've witnessed over the past few weeks regarding the Program. He's getting his message pushed to whomever will listen, and pounding on those who won't listen until they do so. In the past, the University waited for the ABJ or radio or TV to call them to provide media exposure. The media craves a good story...but they will not typically pursue UA for information. UA needs to feed it to them. Relentlessly. Bowden's crew are absolute pros. And the results of their early efforts, on all fronts, really are impressive.
  11. We have a great team. We should be playing opposing OOC teams of similar talent. Bottom line.
  12. The Wistercil piñata has been whacked enough. By hook or by crook, we have a great new head football coach. I agree with ME87...enjoy it. If he steps on another land mine, have at him. But for now, enjoy the good stuff. Now that football optimism abounds, good stuff is officially everywhere.
  13. “We’ll take every one of our coaches and spend the night,” Bowden said of the coaches’ clinic. “They go out and do bud-boy things that Friday night and we want to be with ’em. Have a beer with ’em, have a good time with ’em and show we’re going to be a presence.” A coach who realizes the importance of beer in building relationships. Love it.
  14. Mary Tyler Moore makes her second appearance on ZipsNation in the past month? Her career's being resurrected a la Betty White?!
  15. Manhattan 75 Iona 72 Iona out-scored by 20 in the 2nd half. No idea how this affects a Zips/Iona match up.
  16. It would be a nice thing to do to the few people who actually showed up to watch the last 2, 1-11 seasons. Wistercill hired Bowden, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he's exhausted all the really really stupid things he can do, and going forward from 2012-on-out will make smart, fan- and team-friendly policies and decisions.
  17. If I recall correctly -- Last year it was $100 Z-Fund donation, along with a $50 parking fee? Keep in mind only 3 years ago Wistercill tried to squeeze $5,000 from every Lot 9'er, so who knows what they'll mandate now that Bowden's running the show. I'm guessing somewhere between $100 and $10,000.
  18. Finally a tiny bit of payback for Keith McCloud and Anthony Stacy's game-ending daggers.
  19. I was thinking about a Southern Theme for a game. I have a big propane burner, so some sort of Fried Chicken feature might be in order, amongst the grits, corn muffins, vinegar-based BBQ, tomato pie, etc?
  20. "The Siracha-nator" was a close 2nd.
  21. Ok, "Peachy Keen-er."
  22. Figured I'd dedicate one, since it's getting to be that time of the year. Andy Katz column, found by ZipWatcher
  23. Harney's minutes go up...Bracket Buster Opponent Index is up.
  24. I agree. Joe is absolutely maddening when the Zips suck, because he is such a shill. Nothing worse that watching Rob Ianello pull blunder-after-blunder, while an announcer cheerily tells you "I really think things are gonna turn around any time now..." But when the Zips are good, you can sit back and appreciate what a good job he does. Likewise, on this show, he's in his element. It's all positive Zips stuff, and discussing it is where he excels.
