  1. Watching the game last night, it really eats at you to see the potential of this team if we can ever get healthy and suspension-free. We are really good as-is. Probably in the top 3 in the MAC even without Abreu and Harney. With them, if it ever happens, it will really be amazing to watch. The game vs. OU on the 14th will be awesome. As a tiny side note - Did anyone else notice Green leave the scorer's table, walk back to the bench, and decline to enter the game? He doesn't appear to be a happy camper. Certainly the least of our concerns, but I always like to see what the guys at the end of the bench can do when given some PT (being a career bench-warmer myself). Oldham actually has some decent skills.
  2. big time football name family member. Go Mike Johnson, GO!
  3. I guess it is expecting too much for the guy to make a 6 hour round trip to secure a coach who was his #1 choice, to save a 70 million dollar white elephant. Maybe he should have taken the 25 minute flight instead?
  4. I feel UA is the one with the chip on it's shoulder. If we really wanted to earn Winters favor, we would have sent Proenza. We would have shown him we were dead serious. Especially after dissing the guy twice before. But we didn't. The Wayne State AD and President showed the guy some love instead. And we still have no football coach. And it is December 22nd. For a guy who did not want Winters...I would think you would be happy. Don't lie about me on this board. I never said I did not want Winters. In fact I said he was an excellent candidate. Here. I have no time to deal with liars. The next time you reply to one of my posts, any post, you will be banned permanently.
  5. That adds up to what...like $500,000 per win over the course of his "career?" Iannello is smarter than anyone gives him credit for. Who's signature is on the check?
  6. Was at the basketball game again this evening. Also heard there may be an announcement tomorrow. Free beer tomorrow too.

  8. I hear that is true. In fact, I hear TW didn't go at all? I hear only two members of the 12-person search committee met with Winters. No Proenza or TW. Just scuttlebutt...but it certainly adds up. 12-person search committee? Boy does that speak volumes for UA's faith in our AD's capabilities.
  9. So, if we hire Mason, you are done "supporting" Zips football? Excellent use of quotation marks.
  10. Perhaps a little more patience and time during that change would have yielded a better result? It certainly couldn't have yielded a worse result.
  11. If Wistercill takes former New Castle Red Hurricane Steve McNees with him, I bet a deal finally gets done.
  12. For recent historical reference -- JD - Fired November 28th. Iannello - Hired December 10th.
  13. Relatively "local" guy (New Castle Pa). Transformed Kansas for doormat, to contender. Available, and wants to coach. He was even in Akron this year.
  14. You can't include such a clause in this Zips' contract. The aforementioned Jesus isn't going to be sniffing .500 at UA for at least 3 seasons. No more banking on "mulligans," hire a good coach!!
  15. Hey, look at the bright side....he nabbed a great baseball coach.
  16. Yeah. I don't foresee interviewing Winters a 4th time.
  17. I don't see a contradiction there, ZW. CK was simply stating that there was, in actuality, no sincere search happening & that TW was just sitting around waiting for PW. Essentially not accomplishing much of anything over those three weeks. Thank you.
  18. Read my post above. Winters was offered the job, as I predicted (predicting the sun will rise tomorrow would get you similar odds). UA put all our eggs in the Winters basket. But I didn't foresee Wistercill being incapable of sealing the deal. I had no way of knowing the damage that was done the last time TW turned Winters down in favor of Rob Iannello. In hindsight, I should have seen it. Winters is a very intelligent guy. 26 days of sham...2 days and counting of reality.
  19. He is a different player this season. He's looking for his shot. He's being aggressive. He has had a couple games where he's committed some stupid fouls. Usually when he starts thinking he's a guard and strays outside the paint. But his entire game is better this season. Last year, when everyone was down on the kid, I simply stated a universal truth - 7-footers Develop Slow. With the rarest of exceptions, this is true. I believe I predicted his numbers would be roughly double from last season. We'll see if that holds true. It'll probably fall a little short, but he'll still make a huge leap over 2010-11.
  20. I wonder if there are records kept for Division 1 programs being entirely head coach free? 28 days has to be nearing a record. What the hell is going on?
  21. 1.) Yes. 2.) Probably as big a laugh as I get from his football-related decision making.
  22. And the answer to my original question is: "Yes." And while I was correct that we were sitting around for 4 weeks with our thumbs up our butts awaiting Winters availability, I did not expect that TW would not be able to close the deal.
  23. Any particular Saturday? Or is this like the "Free Beer Tomorrow" sign?
