  1. Wonder no more. There is no chance WVA ever comes to the JAR. K.e.n.t. fans have a better chance of having a felon-free roster. We took this game because WVA waved a bunch of money around. We can only wave coupons for $1 hot dogs in front of Huggins. That's not enough.
  2. I am through with going out of my way to assist this UA regime. They don't care, so why should I? I renewed my Football season tix. I paid for the parking pass. I gave to the Z-Fund. I'll renew my basketball tix, and hit a fair share of the soccer matches. I'll hit the Basketball Golf Outing. We keep ZN.o running, giving UA fans a place to discuss their team. I do a lot more for UA than 99.975% of the people in Summit County, so I feel whole. But as far as organizing any time-consuming stuff....forget it. I have enough going on in my life without adding the burden of doing other people's work. Maybe the next administration will be like the Thomas regime and re-energize me. I'd have walked a thousand miles for those guys, because I knew they'd do the same for The Fan. That's just not the case in 2011. Looking forward to "2012 Ladies Football 101 @ InfoCision." It should be awesome.
  3. Because it is an embarrassing, crappy event attended only by about 70 UA employees and their wives. Why show a big fat puss-laden scab, if you can place a t-shirt over it? Women's Football 101. That's our showcase event to promote Zips Football for the past 2 seasons. F-ing kill me.
  4. Just like Ryan Bain?
  5. It was an X-11 series too!
  6. The Captain's 1981 Chevy Citation used to rock to Herbie back-in-the-day. Future Shock tests your woofer's limits.
  7. If we played them in X-Box and lost by that margin, I'd be equally concerned.
  8. Feel free to bring this post back to the top in late-March 2012. You can bring it up all you want. I didn't say he wouldn't, I said he is a long way from the NBA. Lots of good players never make the NBA or any other sports league. It's easy to look at stats of a 20-year old and say "he's a long way from the NBA." Everyone knows it. It's more interesting and insightful to project future performance. Big men develop slow, and Zeke's on pace with just about every other lanky 7-footer to play NBA ball. This is his watershed year. I'm guessing it's a good one...unless he gets some Serbian girlfriend to distract him.
  9. Feel free to bring this post back to the top in late-March 2012. Or this one.
  10. For what it's worth...everything reads like he's a UA player.
  11. What I love about that article is the quote from the coach that wants to create a pipeline of players from Puerto Rico to Akron. That would be a big help for Akron and I think AA being able to come in, play significant minutes and contribute as a freshman played a big role in that. They see that Akron can compete, make the NCAA tourney and offer immediate playing time and exposure when they may not get that at the high majors. Excellent. While in California I follow St. Mary's Their success has a lot to do with the Australia pipeline they have developed. 3-5 players usually on the team from down under. It would be great if we developed something similar. I wish we could steal St. Mary's relationship with Australia....the Roo connection would be a good fit. K.e.n.t. beat St Mary's, @ St Mary's last season. I'd rather try a different pipeline. Losing to K.e.n.t. = bad pipeline.
  12. He could still redshirt after the prep stint. I don't see it happening, but going to prep school doesn't cost him any eligibility. He seems to really be into Akron, unlike Dylan Ennis. I don't see Melo backing out of his commitment. Great recruit. Can't wait to see him play.
  13. Gilliam has 2 years remaining. But Walsh has 3. Walsh played 2 at Xavier IIRC. Don't make me post an endzone gnome pic! En español, tres años?
  14. When will people learn to never take that roster seriously? I don't see it happening in my lifetime...
  15. Gilliam has 2 years remaining. But Walsh has 3.
  16. My son is attending the Men's Hoops Camp this week. Dambrot, assistants and players are all there. I dropped my son off 1/2 hour before it began, and the gym was aready crawling with 80+ kids. Nice program by the Zips!
  17. Preseason NIT? Would be awesome if the men's team was invited, as the women's team already has been to the Preseason WNIT. Sorry, Dave in Green, not once have I heard or seen anything remotely connsected to a pre-season NIT invite. The game at Mississippi State is part of the early season exempt tournament the Zips are playing in.. And depending upon the brackets, we might not even meet Mississippi State (a la Alaska a couple seasons ago).
  18. PD coverage with some nice things to say about Williams. He's really played well in these all-star games. His quickness appears to standout in particular, but it's also nice to hear about his ability to catch the ball downfield. I'm excited to see him in the fall. I think we may have found our punt returner for the next 4 years. This kid is going to tear apart MAC defenses. He looks like Peter Warrick when he was at FSU except he is way faster. It'll be interesting to see if he's Garret Wolfe...a little guy with the body type to take a pounding. Or Eugene Jarvis...little guy who couldn't take the pounding.
  19. I think we can catch Louisville if we keep our focus.
  20. Top 150 player out of high school EMU also gets a 6' 7" transfer from Arkansas. Maybe things are starting to turn around for the Eagles?
  21. I used to love buying expired boxes of Zingers and Fruit Pies at the store down there.
  22. Are those of us on this board squirrel hunters or moonshiners. I like think of my self as a moonshiner. If shootin' a black squirrel is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
  23. Essentially EVERY program that has made the jump from 1-AA to 1-A over the last 25 years has had greater success than the Zips. Forget Boise State and Marshall...Florida International and Florida Atlantic have surpassed us!? Why is that? It is because for 25 years we didn't make any commitment to the sport. We antied-up to the NCAA D-1 poker table with a big wad of cash, but it was a $1,000 bill wrapped around a slew of $1's. Now we have a legit stadium and training facilities, but our bar for coaches and AD's hasn't been raised. We're like the Beverly Hillbillies...huge beautiful mansion, but with only a handful of squirrel hunters and moonshiners inside.
  24. Seems like Cub Cadet negotiated a crappy deal? $500k gets Stadium naming rights thru 2031. $395k gets Field naming rights thru 2017?
  25. As long as the Zips remain a Division above YSU, I don't care. As you recently stated in another thread, the Zips problem isn't being in the wrong division, or Ohio State, or anything else external. The Zips football problem is -- we have terrible leadership. From the top-down. For decades. Until that changes, we will continue to suck regardless of our NCAA-mandated division.
