I agree on this one. It seems like a chess match with Trimble. He started out slow, so opponents didn't pay much attention to him. Then he caught on, and opponents adjusted per the game tape. Now he's less effective. What will he, or the Zips staff now do to counteract the adjustments and get him space to shoot? Will he need to start attacking the rim? Can he attack the rim? Has waiting for Dailey to "click" hurt the development of Dawson and Tribble? We're 85% of the way through the season, and Dailey is-who-he-is. A reliable 8th man. I'm bullish on Dawson. In hindsight (always 20/20) I wish he'd have gotten Dailey's minutes earlier this year. I think we'd be a better team right now. As Coach Gump ones said though - "Transfers are like a box of chocolates...you never know what your gonna get." I think Ali just needs to see a couple shots go through the hoop and he'll be back. His 20 point game was a first, and I think he's been pressing since. His next step is becoming consistent.

There was an article over the weekend in the PD where it said Patton was a Dambrot recruit? I didn't know that.

Are there enough donors? Is our fan base large? If he knows the changes that need to be made, why haven't they been implemented? I like George. He's always been very good to me, and is definitely a "UA Guy." But does 2021 UA Athletics need a "solid" choice, or a "great" choice? We have botched pretty much every AD hire since Mike Bobinski. You could make a case for Mike Thomas, but the JD Brookhart hire wasn't a home run to say the least. We need an up-and-comer from a successful upper-G5 or scrappy P5 school. Someone that won't screw up basketball and soccer, and will elevate football. Someone with fresh ideas and a plan to get football on track that can be directly attributable to his/her work in a similar previous situation. I can't blame Williams for bowing out. 2021 is a lousy time to become a G5 AD. But we are an FBS football school with a great stadium and practice facilities. A winning basketball program and a top 10 soccer program. That has to be very appealing to someone talented. But I have faith that we will hire the wrong person. We always do.

I don't think the baby has to be the primary reason LCJ would leave. My mom had me at 18 years old, at the end of her freshman year at YSU. She ended up with a Masters degree. He can stick around if that's what he wanted. I'm sure he has a good network of people to help out. That said, doesn't he already have 2 Masters degrees? At some point you gotta move on. I'd love to see him return for another final season just because he got jobbed out of an NCAA tourney appearance in 2020, and then endured a full pandemic season of empty arenas and on-line classes. Crappy way to go out for a "rafterable" player.

I agree. It’s great we can follow the team on TV. Very grateful for today’s technology. But I am really missing seeing games in-person. And the pregaming at The Score. And seeing friends that you rarely see outside of Zips games. 💉 can’t get here soon enough.

Dawson's 3 stroke is getting better by the game. His energy is always there. He's a big guard that can body-up with a lot of the thicker 2's and 3's in the MAC. I want to see more of him. He's definitely trending up. BTW I like Jeff Boals, but it was a wuss move to complain to the officials about the Dawson trash talk after the made 3. Like Jeff never talked any trash in his day. I don't think the refs even heard anything...they just listened to Boals erupt about it, and then called the T. I hate that the refs are calling T's on one or two word chirps after a key made bucket. Reese got a similar one a game or two ago that was just as bad.

I hear our 3rd string kick holder in going to enter the portal tomorrow. Expected to “move up” to either Otterbein of Maine or North Central Pennsylvania Tech. Both are Division 4 powerhouses. Stay tuned.

Just because he drove to Florida and enrolled there doesn't mean his situation bears any resemblance to Council's. Dylan is an exceptional kid, but if he plays a down for the Gators, aside from possibly against whatever FCS team they pound 73-3. I'll be astounded.

It is tough to live with the fact that a program founded 8 years ago is presently considered similar, or better than Akron.

I liked Dakich’s comment when, after making a bucket, Wynn flexed his muscles towards the Zips bench -“That’s gotta be a Triple technical!” alluding to the soft technical on Reese earlier in the game.

This is a bad Kent team. They really need a home crowd pick-me-up, but it ain’t coming.

Luckily the most talented team doesn’t always win.

We lost Cheese, Banks, Williams and Riak. We replaced them with Trimble, Wynn, Daily and Freeman. In only one instance did we upgrade. Yet here we are in the top 25% of the MAC again. Wynn has only been with the team for 6 weeks. He seems to get a little better ever game. Trimble can light it up in spurts, but doesn’t impact the game on defense like Cheese or Banks. Daily? Still too hesitant. He drives the lane, and hesitates. He’s unsure at the 3-point line. I think he drained the 3 to beat Toledo because he didn’t have time to think. The clock is ticking on things slowing down for him. Dunno if it will happen. Groce is doing a great job. LCJ rules. If a couple other guys can step up over the next month, we can beat Toledo in the basketball version of Rocky III.
