Next year's team wins that game. Interception in end zone from 2 yard line is a real head scratcher. Great effort, especially given the number of guys on the sideline with injuries. We're in good hands with Bowden and Co. Kudos to Amato on our defensive effort today. Go Zips!

Niagara is the one with a long season ahead of them. Seems like San Diego State kept the ball in the Niagara half the entire match. I don't believe Niagara had any shots on goal or corner kicks. We're going to win far more than we lose controlling the ball as much as we do but it is obvious we are missing chemistry or a piece or two when it comes to generating offense/finishing right now. I like what I've seen so far and am relieved that we continue to play the style of soccer we've become accustomed to. Hopefully one or more of our guys will step up as the season goes along and overall chemistry improves. Frustrating last night but I think we owe Embick, his staff and the players our patience. Go Zips!

ESPN3 on hard-wired (DSL) laptop piped to large-screen TV via HDMI. Although picture quality was pretty good at times, I'd agree with about a 7/10 on video quality. ESPN announcers were terrible. If I didn't know better, I would have thought I was watching a presentation of UCF Sports TV. Had about all I could take of the UCF love-fest by the time the game ended. Tried to mute ESPN and listen to Frenchie and Dunn but audio was 15 seconds ahead of the video. UCF appears to be a very good team this year. Well-coached and enough talent to execute on both sides of the ball. Disappointed in our production on both sides of the ball but am hopeful we can compete this year in MAC play. Go Zips!

Nice feed and camera work. Akron advantage in shots 7-3, corners 2-1 and time of possession (I'm assuming given how much play was in the Billiken end in the first half). Quite a few Akron offsides (6) as well and I'm OK with that. We're definitely pushing it forward at times. Embick seems to have picked up where Porter left off. Entertaining first half and a nice opportunity for the Zips at the end of the half and a nice save by the StL keeper. Go Zips!!!

Neither was Can't and OU at the MAC tourney after what had just happened to our point guard situation. The coaches and players found a way to overcome that adversity and our next job is to do the same given the style of play VCU employs. This staff and team are special. It may or may not work out the way we hope on Thursday but I'm certain our Zips will give it their all. I like the draw and the challenge and absolutely love this edition of the Zips!
