  1. Akron Basketball Interactive Ticket BrochureI wonder who at UA commissioned this? I personally think Channel 1 Media Solutions did a great job. Pretty impressive list of clients too. The most polished piece of multimedia/digital work I've seen in support of UA athletics.
  2. 38 - 17 BubbaCats
  3. My vote would be "The Don!"
  4. I will on Monday if the majority votes "yes"Polls don't close until Monday but with 22 votes in and 100% of them voting 'YES,' ZipsNation should pronounce 'Separated at Birth' a winner and open the posting immediately!
  5. This group of guys is scary good. Unbelievable ball-handling skills. I've never seen a team keep possession of the ball the way these guys do. When the opposing team does take possession, our guys stay aggressive and never really let the other team get organized on offense. Our guys always seem to be where they're supposed to be on the field. Congrats Caleb on putting together something special.
  6. PLEASE tell me one of you guys....somewhere...has a picture of one of those old troughs so I can enjoy some good-old Rubber Bowl nostalgia. This thread just reminded me how great it is that OUR stadium is not the one being laughed about anymore
  7. I would love it if we could consistently get 3.5-4yds a carry. That's power football. Beat down CMU and keep their QB off the field. You think that might be great because of our ineffectiveness now. I lived through the Dennison years and believe me, handing off to James black 44 times is not an enjoyable thing to see.OMG ... "Black the ball carrier ..." is bouncing around in my head all over again!
  8. 41 - 13 Central. PLEASE prove me wrong JD.
  9. No. We scored in the ~77 minute I believe.First goal. Second generation! Hey Z.I.P. ... stood next to your long-time friend during the second half of the soccer match tonight. He IS making sure the season tickets are being used, enjoyed watching the Zips take down #8 IU, AND had your Zips soccer scarf in hand. I'm sure it will be heading your way tomorrow or early next week.
  10. YOU OWNED ONE?!?!?
  11. Thoughts on the Barley House ...* Whether they were tOSU fans or not, it was nice to see all of the servers in Akron gear at the four of us walked in just as the place was opening up.* The manager indicated it would be about a 50/50 split of TVs between Akron and tOSU. I backed him up against the wall with a "51/49 Akron or we're outta here!" comment and he relented with 60/40. Have no idea what the actual split was but the TV directly in front of us was Akron and the sound was up high enough that I didn't even know tOSU was playing so I was happy. * A tOSU fan sat next to us with his UA girlfriend. He was quiet even when tOSU was making something happen. His girlfriend was definitely pro-Akron and got into the game the few times there was much to cheer about.* Decent turnout of Akron fans who were ready to get loud and rowdy but never had the chance. Pretty subdued atmosphere and not unexpected given what Akron was able to do on the field.* Appreciate Navy fighting hard to stay in their game. tOSU fans were not a problem at all. We left with 8 minutes to go in the Akron game (club seats at the Indians game).* Manager on duty (an assistant manager) realized about a half-hour before game time that the Barley House did not have the full Big Ten Network package! He kept getting a 'No subscription' (or something to that effect) message when trying to change to channel DirecTV channel 610. Fortunately for him (and the rest of us), he was able to work the phones and take care of that in about 10 minutes. A close-call that will make for a good story when he talks to his boss this week.* Wings, salad and service were all good. Would definitely go back. Would probably have gone to OBC if I had seen the sign as I thought OBC did a pretty good job catering to Akron fans for the March Madness selection show and the Akron/Gonzaga game.
  12. Coastal Carolina 0Can't State 2 HALFTIME
  13. Barley House for three of us I guess. Not sure how long I'll be able to stomach the Ohio A&M fans. Will definitely be prepared to head back home and finish watching it there.
  14. Milking XP to bypass Vista. Looking forward to 7.
  15. ... and to think I was impressed with the little ornery UA student taking a leak on the Can't logo!Nice work! HAD to 'Right mouse click, save image as ...' on those! I use a piece of freeware called Wallmaster to change my XP wallpaper every few minutes. Added a few of your pics to the rotation - I hope that's OK.Your Fall assignment is to do the same of The Info! Thank you!
  16. Our 10-year-old daughter has a saying that Doug might want to use in a pre-game pep talk: "The glass isn't half-empty (here at Can't)! It's two-thirds half-full!" A bit of a stretch at .333 but anything is possible! Can't ...
  17. I have Canadian relatives and that still hurt.. Believe me I have spent allot of time In Buffalo and Canada and a fair amount driving through akron (why would anyone stop there) you don't really want to put money on which city looks more like Canada do you Must be a Canadian thing, eh? Answer #1: INFOCISION STADIUM !!! Answer #2: ZEKE MARSHALL !!!
  18. I thought Mack did a decent job in his 3-1/2 years here in Akron. I always found him to be very approachable and nice to talk to. I agree with many of you that I don't like being a stepping stone in someone's career and would prefer a resident over a transient any day. A Dambrot in every position is pie in the sky but why not dream big . Best of luck to you and your family in Houston, Mack.Reading through the official release from Akron, I saw the following ..."Not to be lost in the excellence on the field and in the classroom is the fact that UA student-athletes have completed over 1,600 hours of community service over the last three years."Pretty poor by Can't standards. I believe their student-athletes racked up over 16,000 hours of community service over the same period of time ... with all but a handful of those hours being mandated by a judge.
  19. Unlike Memorial Hall, that one more person I'm going to bring will most likely have to sit for two hours on a wood plank with limited walkway access to that wood plank. Until UA addresses the remaining bleacher seating in the JAR, I'm not sure how many of the newbies will continue to come to the games, especially those in their 30s or higher ('Ooh my aching back!').
  20. Coles gets three-year extensionOXFORD, Ohio -- Miami of Ohio has decided to keep Charlie Coles, who overcame life-threatening heart problems to coach last season. The 67-year-old coach got a three-year contract extension Thursday, giving him a chance to add to his school-record total of 224 wins in 13 seasons. The main question for Coles was his health -- he had four operations last year, including major heart surgery. He returned for the final season on his contract and led the RedHawks to a 17-13 record. They lost to Akron in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference tournament.
  21. Can't MIGHT consider it if their next three games were against Hartford, Albany, & Stony Brook (America East Conference).
  22. Rivalries Sports Pub & GrillLocated just Below the Civic Center in Portland's Old Port.10 Cotton Street Portland, Maine(207) 774-6044Motto ..."Where every day is victory celebration!"Ask them what the "Victory Celebration of the Day" is today!
  23. you just lost like 50% of the fans with that statement. I dont know if the JAR could even do it let alone if they would even do it. Yeah, I know ... just acknowledging current campus policy. I'd like to think that something like this brings out thousands, not hundreds.
  24. OBC is great but I'd prefer the JAR. Greater capacity. Could allow sponsors like Scorchers, OBC and others sell anything they'd like except alcohol. Would like to think interest in something like this would exceed what OBC is able to accommodate down on Main Street, especially given the ideal start time of 7:25PM. Just my two cents ...
  25. I know you won't like this answer but AMTRAK can get you out and back for $193 (before taxes I think) each way. 45 HOURS to do it each way so you'd probably have to be on the 3:45AM train that leaves in about 8 hours. Haven't checked Greyhound .
