  1. Dammit! When did they put that lid on the basket? See you all March 4 at the JAR.
  2. That's the thing that makes me the happiest. All these kids CHOOSE to come to Akron. JD keeps going head to head with the BIG TEN and winning. I love it. Great facilities and a great staff are the keys. Now, let's build a beautiful stadium, and keep Brookhart here! :macc:
  3. Northeast Ohio is one of the most heavily recruited areas in the entire country. All the big boys are here. Charlie Weis said last week that national championships are won by recruiting in this area. That being said, you have to be smart about who you are getting. Like Brookhart and his crew have been. This area is very picked over and you've gotta be able to determine who can play ball and who will just take up space on a roster. That's the difference between Can't's class and Akron's class. Let them try to spin it any way they want , but in the end we'll be winning championships, going to bowl games and playing on national tv, and the will just be another story about a team with a long winless streak. Be patient, keep winning and we'll get our share of the local kids, I am sure of it. :macc:
  4. Excellent work by UADavid. I, hereby , nominate him as the official poster of links to sites that are propping up the Zips all over the web.
  5. I hate Miami and I disagree with this guy's take that they have the best recruitign class in the MAC, but I did like his way of looking at the respective classes. I also like the post about the kids who turned down Big Ten offers. I never thought there would be a post on a Miami website that I'd enjoy.
  6. Drop the rifle team? What? Don't drop anything. Addition, not subtraction.
  7. My best guess is that Jackson will be the back-up qb this season and Jacquemain will move over to help out the wr corp. He was a nice wr in high school. That means that in '07 it will be Hakes and Jackson fighting it out, or rotating or whatever the competition decides. Depth creates competition, and that's a great thing to have. :macc:
  8. No leads blown tonight. Thanks for stopping, Buffalo.
  9. I can't find any recruit listed in the Lake Wales area who list Akron as a possibility. Got a name? God , I love this recruiting stuff. :macc:
  10. Wow, this one is huge. How big and tough is that o-line gonna be for the next few seasons? Add this kid to Kemme and Anderson, with Kas, Poindexter and Cruz playing the ends. Sounds nice. :macc:
  11. Yea, he woulda been a great addition to the class. It's tough, because he wants to play basketball, too, and that means the Zips were also recruiting against Rick Pitino.
  12. Wow, now that's cutting it a bit too close. They can't let up like that against Can't or Buffalo either one this week. Brutal stretch for the Zips. What doesn't kill 'em will make 'em stronger, right?
  13. Rivals says that Chichester hasn't met his academic requirements and that's the reason he's looking at Loiusville and Akron...We'll see how this one plays out
  14. Wow, Chichester, huh? That would be a nice addition. The kid is something like 6'8"! That's why you keep bringing these kids in, you never know what might happen. Get him JD! The Buckeyes loss is our gain. :macc:
  15. I wondered what had become of Cruz. He was on the commit list last year, but I never saw him at practice or on the sidelines. Good for him, sounds like he's got it all together, now. :macc:
  16. Garret Wolfe from NIU was a senior, thank goodness we won't have to face him again. :macc:
  17. :macc: That's great ! Now, let's get that stadium built ! :macc:
  18. Wow, I like what I see from Hakes on the video. An honest to goodness human-highlight film. Have Jacquemain and Jackson tried to learn the wideout position, yet?
  19. Athletics at Akron have been improving for the last several seasons. This is a trend that I believe will continue. The football, soccer, track and basketball teams are all viable and legitimate Mid American Conference contenders. Outsiders can say and believe what they may, but it appears to me that the Zips are here to stay. Now, let's get that stadium built! :macc:
  20. :macc: Build a stadium. First and foremost, BUILD A STADIUM. Brookhart is not here forever, but he is here for a couple more years at minimum. He's a good coach and has an excellent recruiting staff in place, but eventually, if this program is successful, (god I hope that it is) he's gonna take another job someplace else. That stadium will still be here, however. Hey, if he does decide to stay, we can name the place after him, someday, just like the brown roo suggests. He could become Akron's Frank Beamer, and maybe Akron could be the next Va. Tech. Sounds crazy, but you never know....
  21. Way to go John Russell. If I am correct, that will qualify him for the NCAA meet. Isn't that a MAC record, as well? Awesome!
  22. :macc: Guilford is a former Buckeye. He played db and rb in his short stay in Columbus. He's a player. Keep your fingers crossed on him.
  23. Wow, he seems like a nice addition. Looks like a hitter. I assume he'd have to sit out this season, correct?
  24. I don't understand why there is Chris Wells discussion on here. He's starting classes at OSU this month.
  25. Wow, good luck to Ferguson. It catches me a bit off guard, but it does make perfect sense. Obviously, he isn't going to play next season if he stays in Akron. Plus, it looks like the following year would be a crap shoot for him, at best. It's a good football move. :macc:
