  1. That didn't take long - Dave Doeren hired as the new NC State coach. (please pardon the copy & cross-post, MDZip) Per Sporting News: "Doeren compiled a 23-4 record in two seasons at NIU. That brief stretch includes two MAC titles. Incoming recruits have been told that Huskies' offensive line coach Rod Carey will replace Doeren, Sporting News has learned. Doeren replaces Tom O’Brien, who was fired last week. In addition to Doeren, NC State also interviewed Louisiana Tech coach Sonny Dykes and Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris. Can't State coach Darrell Hazell was also a target."
  2. If you're having trouble keeping track like me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division..._future_changes
  3. Our one weakness under Porter has been sailing PK's over the crossbar...Blair Gavin did the same thing in the 2009 final. Hopefully Coach Embick will take note and zero in on that.
  4. Let the rock/paper/scissors begin...
  5. On The Air • Sunday's match will be broadcast locally on Fox Sports 1350 AM (WARF) and on-line via the iHeartRadio app. Longtime Voice-of-the-Zips Steve French and former Zips' All-American Simon Spelling will have the call. • A free video stream with play-by-play by Ian Tayek will also be available on MAC-Sports.com.
  6. So what I hear you saying is that if the #6 team lost by 20 to a team we took into OT, we would have beat them also, making us a top 5 team, is that right?
  7. I'm getting a kick out of listening to Frenchie call the game. It just surprises me they wouldn't have a substitute announcer of their own. Saves a little money, I s'pose.
  8. And Derek Dooley is now available...
  9. Cool, I think the OSU fans will appreciate Steve. That will be 6:30 for those of us in Eastern Time.
  10. Cinci-Lville-USF-UCF-Temple-Memphis still forms a pretty good BE core, along with the western teams they're bringing in. I don't think they would have any trouble swiping a couple more from the MAC/Sunbelt if they want to.
  11. Huh? What? Why? Were the OK St. announcers kidnapped or something?
  12. I believe this woman could design a much safer helmet if she were so inclined (anyone here know the relevant product she works on? ). The hard shell of current helmets don't absorb any impact...it's all about the lining. We should go back to old-school soft helmets with a gel/polymer filling to reduce the head trauma/concussions.
  13. And his sister Hannah. (Sorry, the losing makes me punchy)
  14. I think the Trustees will give it a couple more years to see what TB can do. No offense to the OVC or MVC or North and South Dakota but the MAC really is a better place for us.

  16. Speaking of Zipipedia:
  17. In spite of our 25-year history in 1-A, next season will be the first time we've had great facilities along with a "name" coach with a full recruiting season under his belt. Hard to believe, but true. Now it's time to grab another soccer nat. champ. and another MACC in hoops, then it will be time for spring football with hopefully some transfer reinforcements to get excited about. Pohl sounds very promising but TB may also go out and get someone even better by then.
  18. This will give Terry Pluto a great opportunity to write a comeback kid story mentioning about 3 or 4 times how young Owens still looks.
  19. It's been 300 months in Div. 1-A; having watched some nice wins, a MACC/bowl appearance, and a dozen future NFL players along the way, I'll wait 2.5 more months to see how TB's first full-season recruiting class looks. Having said that, if he can't get good players here in the next couple years, I'll probably be following Cincinnati.
  20. NIU/WVU game going on currently: http://www.mac-sports.com/Championships/SoccerM.aspx
  21. With those kinds of numbers, he could have a future playing at the Rubber Bowl Seriously, where would he be with a Jabari Arthur or Dominik Hixon?
  22. Backyard H.S. talent from Jackson, Kidron, and Orrville in the state tourney starting today...go get em, coach Arenz! http://www.ohsaa.org/sports/vb/girls/default.asp
  23. A little sidenote: As we all know, polymer science is UA's premier academic program. Some time ago (last time I remember hearing about it), UA's P.S. program was ranked 2nd in the nation. #1 in the nation was .... you guessed it .... UMass.
  24. How sweet it is...
