  1. I have a different take on it. A couple of first-round losses in the NCAA really doesn't warrant such a long term commitment considering where we want to be. It tells me the U is afraid of having to find and hire another high quality mens basketball coach while still in the JAR and with the recent memory of iCoach. With a new arena in the near future it wouldn't be such a problem but if the admin believes that we couldn't get anyone else as good as KD in the next 10 years, the arena must still be a long way off, unfortunately.
  2. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/foot...s.ap/index.html Emmert has not ruled out the possibility of shutting down the Penn State football program in the wake of the scandal, adding that he had "never seen anything as egregious."
  3. That's a great tribute and a Blue Board Hall of Fame worthy post, IMHO !
  4. Which field of study?
  5. Right...the MAC refs would get dizzy and pass out from blowing their whistles so much..
  6. Oh, wow...being out of the area I didn't realize that many schools already had it. I guess it's the smaller & rural schools playing catch-up now. The savings on mowing/aerating/fertilizing/painting/repairs also helps to offset some of the cost. Makes me wonder what % of Ohio H.S.'s are already on synthetic. Now I'm also wondering if any Ohio teams were playing on artificial turf before the Zips (of course it wasn't such a great thing back in the "rug on cement" days).

  9. Since they are prepared to spend "more than seven figures", all I can say is $10,000,000 still buys a lot of concrete. I would love to see the RB get fixed up and have another set of activities going on for the city. The immovable lights issue just leaves me shaking my head though...I'm sure the marketing group knows about the airport next door(?) http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/local-grou...f-usfl-1.316991
  10. Phil Steele predicts UCF as the #1 non-AQ team in 2012: "This year I'm going for SEVEN IN A ROW, my call is for the UCF Knights to go unbeaten in CUSA play and be the top non-AQ team in the country this year as they are my Most Improved Team!" http://www.philsteele.com/Blogs/2012/June12/DBJune20.html
  11. Tomorrow (Sun.) at 5p ET is the Sounders @ Timbers "Cascadia Clash" on ESPN...Zakuani is listed as doubtful (but ready to go). http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2012-...r-v-sea/preview
  12. from the article: "One of the primary reasons UA built InfoCision was because it viewed the [Rubber Bowl] as outdated and inadequate. After four years of standing idle, the Rubber Bowl that opened in 1940 would require significant work and upgrades."
  13. It was well pointed out today that he couldn't help assemble a dream team in Cleveland because it's so hard to get the other stars to come to a "boring" town that's not NY, LA, Chicago, Boston, Miami...sometimes you have to face the reality of things.
  14. I'm glad he shut up those who won't give a great player his/her due unless/until winning a championship. Now that he's got his ring, let the LeBron vs. Michael debate begin...
  15. Student fees will not be used for the arena, just as they weren't for the football stadium. Some ignorant people will still call it a waste of money though, even if it doesn't cost them a dime.
  16. Sneak into their locker rooms and swap uniforms?

  19. Thanks...what is the name of your home pub? I know the Zips beat UCF at the Citrus Bowl at least once. Would love to hear about a comparison of both of our new football stadiums from any UCF fans that make the trip up this fall. I'm sure we'll be visiting your board leading up to the game

  23. So much for the lack of hyperbole...now we expect to outrecruit the Big-xx in NEO (other than Tosu)? But at least with a good coach (and VPSE) we can hope for some incremental improvement in local recruiting.
