Week #6 - BGSU Falcons @ Akron Zips - 3:30 pm Kick-off
ZippyRulz replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
I might drive up to campus Saturday. I might buy a pregame Oktoberfest brat (sounds like a nice event to benefit the students, alumni, fans, community, and my stomach). And depending on how the Zips offense is performing in the first half, I might even buy a ticket and go inside. -
Moorhead 2024 make or break season to keep job?
ZippyRulz replied to akrzips2012's topic in Akron Zips Football
I don't think an AD usually gets a chance to hire another FB coach if his previous hire didn't work out(?) -
It's all good. The coach can live close to home, make half a 7-figure salary, have no pressure while indulging his stubbornness (if any), and have the team bring in $6M to fund the department. If we want to see winning football, Tosu is omnipresent.

MAC media payput to each university?
ZippyRulz replied to UA1996MAENG's topic in Akron Zips Football
https://www.gazettenet.com/Part-2-How-is-UMass-affected-by-landmark-NCAA-v-House-settlement-proposal-55495331 While UMass’ revenues will take a hit, it’ll also see a large increase in TV revenue because of the MAC’s football media rights deal with ESPN, which will pay the school about $1.5-2.5 million per year. This is several times what UMass would expect to earn from Atlantic 10 revenues, which come primarily from men’s basketball. The Minutemen will receive 75% of a share of MAC distributions in 2025-26 (expected to be between $1.5-2 million) and a full share every year thereafter (expected to be between $2-2.5 million). -
And everyone knows we're vulnerable to it.
-
Yeah, that would be quite an upheaval for them for not much more money in the diminished MWC w/ more travel. Unless they'd get a really good signing bonus.
-
The MAC allows affiliate membership in various Olympic sports which could still include departed football members but I'm not sure about basketball.
-
His value will get sorted out but the much bigger story IMO is UNLV now being stuck in the MWC with the left-behinds and whatever FCS schools they backfill with.

Zips are 12 points underdogs. The way I think it breaks down is 3 for being on the road + 3 for punt return fielding issues + 3 for QB with PTSD + 3 for clock management issues.

I read that mwc is trying to keep its remaining members together. Pac may have to look more Eastward. -
Moorhead 2024 make or break season to keep job?

like others have said, he's likely here at least until his contract ends. Not sure you could fire him and not the AD. Hopefully we improve and it's not an issue. -
They lost. Toledo lost to WKU. NIU lost to Buffalo. There were a lot of great college football games today, accompanied by a lot of degenerate drinking.

OU could have gone to 10-7 at UK but fumbled on a sack from the UK 5 and gave up another TD. 17-0 UK.

Week 4 - Zips vs. Gamecocks @ 7:30 pm EST

The flip side is we won't be facing a Finn or Rourke or Gabbert for 3-4 years straight.

Look at the stadium, field house, weight rooms, locker rooms, coaching salaries, campus enhancements.... to put it kindly, I disagree that there's never been a commitment to building the program. GP1 is talking about bounce houses for the families, Zips Walk, etc. which are apparently the missing piece (and which I'm totally in favor of).

Tracking Outgoing Transfers

K. Mumpfield left just before the current coach but is now a captain at Pitt w/ 100+ yards vs. Cinci. https://www.tribdem.com/sports/pitt-football-wr-konata-mumpfields-career-day-draws-praise-from-coach/article_e85df98c-6fcd-11ef-bd3d-ef0577c0a87a.html -
Help me to understand what this means. How is Toledo accomplishing this?
-
1. I didn't know teams could change the clock rules by agreement. 2. Did the fans all leave after the halftime band show a la OU? 3. How did UT only score 6 points in the 2nd half? 4. There should probably be some kind of mercy rules at the NCAA level.
-
My understanding is it will not be a 'power' conference but rather a G6.
