We got screwed on the backcourt violation.

How much of this 23-15 score difference is a result of good ND defense vs. cold shooting for us? I can't tell. Clean game so far. Few turn-overs, good rebounding, and decent refs. Need to play a bit better defense and hit a couple more open shots and this thing will could come down to the wire. Go Zips!

Former opponents in the NIT.

Big win for Can't. I fell asleep with them down 10 and about 10 minutes left. At the time, they had been getting beat in every facet of the game. This is a big surprise. -
Seriously, why does Can't even have an airport. I would appreciate an answer from someone who really knows.
-
She is way too cute to go to Can't.

Cleveland State just beat Vermont and will host the College of Charleston at home. (Dayton lost to CoC.) Can't plays later tonight. Miami(FL) and Bethune-Cookman also made the field. Buffalo and Ohio both won in the CIT and WMU plays tomorrow. A sound post-season thus far for MAC teams. As an aside, I would like to see CSU and Dayton on our OOC schedule every season.

vs FSU would be some game. They would be out for revenge, and we KNOW we can beat them. Are there any players remaining from either roster? Wasn't that 4 years ago or more? I don't think the psychology of that game would be as you describe it at all. If beating ND in the first round, that would provide all the confidence we might need to beat FSU...why is my alarm clock going off again?

For anyone who doesn't have cable (like me) and interested, ESPN3.com is featuring Steve Zakuani's Seattle Sounders against the LA Galaxy tonight at 9:30 as the first game of the 2011 MLS season. Also on are NIT games including CSU at 7 and Can't at 11.

Neoconservatives Doing Their War Dance

I hear you DiG! 40% always go to one side and 40% always go to the other. So, it is the independents who end up deciding elections. -
I don't think ND's "home court advantage" will be as big as most expect it to be. South Bend is a tiny town and ND is a national/international school, so it's alumni are scattered throughout the country/world. Sure, there are probably lots in Chicago and some students may travel but this is no way as big for ND as for UA. They have made the Tournament ~ the past four of five years and football is by far more important to them. Also, they will be a small portion of the casual fans and fans from other schools in attendance for other games/sessions. Nationally, there are lots of ND haters too...much like tOSU...very polarizing sports programs. If we are able to make the push for an upset, I think the crowd will favor us. Don't be surprised if most indifferent fans come to our corner. In the early rounds, what makes the Tournament so entertaining is the possibility for upsets.

When are the libertarians in this country finally going to wake up and realize that they are libertarians So to you, someone who doesn't fit the democrat (liberal) / republican (conservative) mold is a libertarian? -

From a Fox News Poll Should U.S. Forces Be Used to Create a No-Fly Zone Over Libya? Socially liberal and fiscally conservative here, but I wouldn't trust anything from Fox Noise. If you want to seriously consider balancing the federal budget, start with defense spending! Talk about a waste of money...multiple wars against an ill-defined, ubiquitous enemy that can never truly be defeated while ruining our international credibility...all in the name of redneck patriotism. The War on Terror has always been a battle of common sense and free thinking. -
Amen. I am also happy with the match-up and the location. Combined with being in Chicago and the Friday game, there should be lots of UA support. Go Zips! With loses to NIU and EMU, I am not about to complain about the 15 seed either. It was relatively fair IMO. I guess you could say, it is UA fair. Not a Northwestern level screw job that is for sure.

Akron September opponent's coach in hot water?

I think Fox Noise should do all of the investigative reporting. -
Lunardi currently has us as a 16 seed, but personally I think we could go as high as a 13 or 14. Current 13 seeds according to Lunardi: Princeton, Bucknell, Belmont, Oakland Current 14 seeds according to Lunardi: Long Island, Morehead State, Indiana State, Wofford Current 15 seeds according to Lunardi: St. Peters, UCSB, Northern Colorado, UNC Asheville Current 16 seeds (not play-in games): Boston U, Akron Current Play-in games: Alabama State/Hampton, UALR/Texas San Antonio I believe all four 16 seeds are play ins. Nope. Two play-ins are for 16 seeds. The other two are for a 13 seed I think. I don't know otherwise, but that doesn't make any sense. I personally hate the addition of the play-in games. It should be an even 64 single elimination tournament.

Nice player, but easily replaceable. Who is going to do this next year? It constantly amazes me how negative some of you can be in spite of these players winning one of the most exciting games against our arch rival on national TV and giving us one of the best seasons in program history. One more win and we have THE best season in program history. Why treat some of them like disposable commodities? They are real young men who have worked hard to entertain us and do our alma mater proud. Why not celebrate that with them and thanks them for their hard work and success? If they choose to leave early because better opportunity exists elsewhere, wish them well! They have earned it. Put the bitterness and negativity away for at least a few weeks...there will be plenty of opportunity for that during football season. Yes, I hope the growth of our program results in continually better players being brought in, but that doesn't have to be at the expense of taking away from the accomplishments of current and past players. We have them to thank for the growth of the program. Shame on you, GP1! Please reread my post. I said he was a nice player before saying he was replaceable. Everyone is replaceable...some more easily than others. Are they disposable commodities? Maybe. Some for sure. Didn't we give the boot to some of our commodities after last season? Aren't we better because of it? It's Division I college basketball, not D-III or high school. In a big boys world and inside of coaches rooms, players are talked about in this manner. Sorry if some aren't mature enough to talk about it. It's not a maturity issue at all. My main point is that this is a great day for the Zips and UA. We should be all positive in celebration. I won't debate this anymore though because I know it could go on ad nauseum.

Welcome aboard, and good luck! I hope you play and destroy them too!

For the most part the players can not stand iCoach - so much so that they are willing to forgo scholarships to go somewhere else. As I have been saying all along, education is the most important thing for these kids and being miserable participating in Akron football will not help their mental attitude in the classroom. I heard Shrock may be going to D2 Ashland. What has to happen for everyone to realize that these kids are not responding to iCoaches methods??? iCoach is a recruiter though. He needs lots and lots of time. We will see. (Rolls eyes.)

I hope someone got a good picture of that and will post here.

McNeese three at the buzzer to win??????? I was thinking the same thing in the last couple minutes.

I hope we are playing east of the Mississippi this time. What is a realistic match up? Who would we match up well with? I like our chances against a west team that is unfamiliar and has to travel east. Such a team would be Washington. I wouldn't mind playing a midlevel Big Ten, Big East, or ACC team either. Hey, Ohio beat Georgetown last year. There is no reason we can't if our shooters are on and we play a disciplined game. Go Zips!

+1. Zeke and his ability to stay out of foul trouble was the difference in the game. Great game, big guy! McNeese, McKnight, and Roberts also had solid games. McClanahan was quiet but not detrimental. It was truly a team effort. Great, entertaining game in general. Why didn't we call a timeout with 6 seconds left in regulation? I felt there were times we tried pushing the tempo too much and created unnecessary turnovers. Those things need cleaned up before our Tournament game. The margin for error will be miniscule.
