Ianello said that one of them will moved to another position (think it was potts). side note frank clark is listed as having a visit set up with akron. he also has offers from michigan, north carolina, and psu. lets hope akron can land him and keep the glenville connection.

BARLEY HOUSE COLLEGE CUP WATCH PARTY!
gozips19 replied to mac517's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
thanks for asking! it was ok. gave us one of the bigger tv's but no sound. many people noticed my small group watching the game and began to watch and comment on last years loss in the title game and they knew about how good akron's soccer program was. was great to get the random comments during the game and someone bought me a victory beer! can't beat that! -
BARLEY HOUSE COLLEGE CUP WATCH PARTY!

Well put guys! For those that live in the cleveland area ill be watching the game at the old angle on w 25th. English pub that shows nothing but soccer. Already confirmed theyre showing the match. -
Just got a letter in the mail today from the athletic department. Just curious what people's thoughts were that received them. I am assuming they were sent to all season ticket holders. For those who don't have season tickets I'll paraphrase. 1. hope you notice we put a lot of money into the football program. 2. thank you for making a commitment to the football program. 3. we don't take your commitment lightly. 4. disappointed with the results. 5. thanks our support during a season like this 6. they aren't discouraged about the future. 7. they expect to compete for a mac title year after year and that is their goal. 8. talks about the upcoming home schedule FIU, VMI, OU, Temple, CMU, and Can't State. Very honest letter. I am happy they sent something out like this. Thoughts?

big big win! the zips will go as far as Nik can take them. Abreu looks like a faster Humpty. Glad KD stuck with the freshmen this game. big step moving forward for this team.

fantastic news! click me

i think golden went out of his way to start his freshmen over the upper class men. this seems to be the way Ianello is leaning now. take a look at the depth chart the past few weeks and there's tons of frosh there. i agree bowers looked like the best of the lot but i am encouraged by what i've seen out of the freshman class.

click me man i can't wait for basketball season!

haven't posted anything in awhile because there really hasn't been anything to post. the team can't put a full game together and its hard to watch this team. during the season many on the board have asked for the freshman to get more playing time and start looking at next season. this has been happening more frequently as most of Ianello's 2010 class have seen the field. while watching the temple niu game a few weeks back they talked about how temple won just 1 (maybe 2) games in golden's first year and played a ton of freshman. this worked out very well for temple but it did upset their fan base. my questions to the board are: 1. what do you think of Ianello's class so far? 2. what freshman are standing out so far? 3. do you think he's doing the right thing playing most of the kids and burning their red shirt (some are just playing special teams). 4. is this the fastest way to rebuilding the program? i have always thought and with some of the talks (limited at best) i've had with either staff or people in the ad confirmed that Ianello knew there was no talent on this team and that he needed to play his guys asap to speed up the development of the program. while i may not agree with some of his concepts i can at least give the man some time to executed his plan. i just wish there were a few wins mixed in with the plan.

here's an update on the roo wards program in the PD click me

i think what the poster is trying to say (and correct me if i'm wrong) is that during the games the fans are not that into it. with that i tend to agree in all akron sports.

agree completely GP1

I heard they are charging $20 for GA seats. Really? Are they 300% better than watching high school teams? They should "give the tickets away" until they fill the place up (hint: winning - look at the soccer team). A guy told me he spent $80 dollars for GA seats for his family to see the bands' butts and watch a poorly played game. He said he would not go back, too expensive. Sell them for $10, soak them for $5 for hotdog and pop. Easy math $20 time one game versus $15 less $0.75 for the pop and hot-dog times 6 games = $85 - all other costs are fixed. look i understand akron needs to win to draw. that's a fact. however its posts like this that makes laugh out loud. can't have it both ways....we need to be big time....we need to give everything away for free. get over it!!!! the university has made it known they expect more from their athletics and have shown it monetarily. the only thing we can do as fans and alumni is to demand a better product on the field. stop the whining about how much stuff costs they are never going back to the acme game....they are never going back to everyone gets in free day.....they are better than that and as alumni and fans we should be above it. sorry, i promise to never go on another rant like that again on this board but it needs to be said.

pretty good interview in the abj with the ad. click me

great posts guys! maybe i didn't see it in this thread but the drop by carter was huge! 30-40 yard gain for sure and maybe could have gone for 6. said this during the scrimmage but bowers has the most talent at rb. he needs to get in the rotation. does anyone know when paul simkovich will return? the guard play was beyond words. not to pick on jared province but sheldon miller should be seeing more time even if he's a true frosh. anyone know when gilmer will return? little looked lost and soft. gilmer in at olb will make the front seven even better. the d makes me optimistic for the season but the o line needs to turn things around quickly cooking breakfast for the game this week. ready to see a beat down and better play from the zips!

getting back to the topic at hand....i no longer live in akron but still live close enough to go out there from time to time. the two things that i miss the most is Luigi's and swensons (both are land marks for akron and very close to campus). if you are looking to go out i'd also stick by campus (if you're young) you've got barely house and posh as well as the other bars mentioned above. the street will be similar to the main street at su. texan mark i took you up on your advice for dino bbq now i am returning the favor. Luigi's and swensons! lots of great beer. most have talked about akron beer but you have to try at least one great lakes. by far the best beer in the area and very easy to get (every place will have it). i brought dortmunder gold up to su and everyone loved it. hope this helps!

link big news! curious to hear the thoughts of all the people that have been bashing the new ad.

i'll try to touch on a few things that haven't been talked about too much. 1. bowers is legit! great foot work and vision. look for him to get more carries as the season progresses. 2. depth at de and lb worries me. was looking forward to seeing gilmer but he was out 3. happy with the secondary. seldon miller and holmes should get time. and richmond was all over the place. 4. pott's arm is weaker than rodgers....red flag to me 5. sconiers looks like a nice add at wr and could develop into a #1 in a year or two 6. like what they were trying to do with pride getting the ball to him in space but the execution was lacking 7. the pos coaches are much more engaged with the team than in years past. 8. o line needs to get healthy in a hurry or teams will just bleed akron to death 9. really liked what i saw out of hall at te can't wait for the 4th...just hope the team is ready

i let a law officer have a sip of my great lakes beer when i was at Syracuse. said it was a damn good beer too!

Thanks...we might have a few coming in via AirTran BTW, can you see the close sideline from about 10 rows up or do the players on the sidelines obstruct the view? The Capt is right about the tailgating info. as for the seats....i'm row 12 between the 35/40 and i can see the close sideline. i think the seats are great. good sight lines and it seems like your down on the field. a win win as far as i'm concerned.

rivals is showing another recruit for 2010 darrell blanton

great topic! this is a question that i can speak to. the answer is simple....pitching pitching pitching! if you are an above average pitching prospect in the state you are either going to osu or Can't State. the other teams fight over the rest. another issue is the facilities. the bullpen is a joke and the field needs re done badly. until they find a way to bring in quality pitching and upgrade the facilities we will continue to see teams that are young and get beat up on only to mature to .500 teams that can hit a little. pains me to say that but that's where the program stands Just a question, since you seem so knowledgable about the baseball program..... We won a MAC title about 10-12 years ago. Beat OU in the title game, if I remember correctly. Were the elite player not going to OSWHo and Ken+ at that time? Facilities could not have been an issue either, since I believe the facilities were the same? What did we have then that we don't have now? And...I have watched some baseball games over the years.....I have not experienced a time where there was more than maybe....maybe....100 people at a home game on our home field. you are correct although it was 13-14yrs ago. i played with many of those players and the reason they won the mac is they had the pitching. that was the last few years for the coach who had been with the university for years and made a lot of in roads for recruits. the coaches that followed him have done a bad job of bringing in talent and a poor job finding quality pitching. fix that and they can contend. i have no idea if or when they will put money into the facilities. every time that i've asked some one from the a.d. if there are plans to upgrade the diamond they look at me like i'm crazy but they have to know that the complex is in the bottom third of mac.
