  1. great topic! this is a question that i can speak to. the answer is simple....pitching pitching pitching! if you are an above average pitching prospect in the state you are either going to osu or Can't State. the other teams fight over the rest. another issue is the facilities. the bullpen is a joke and the field needs re done badly. until they find a way to bring in quality pitching and upgrade the facilities we will continue to see teams that are young and get beat up on only to mature to .500 teams that can hit a little. pains me to say that but that's where the program stands
  2. jones update
  3. corner mostly but said the prep school kid could slide to safety at some point also noticed on gozips.com the roster has been updated with tonga and lartey back on the roster. happy to see that!
  4. had the pleasure of attending an event last night that featured coach mallory as the guest speaker. i'll share with you some of his remarks during the q & a. recruiting: ohio is the focal point of recruiting with the coaches assigned a section no further than an hour and a half outside of akron. he said that coach I refers that area as the "zips zone" concern: i asked the question what area need the most improvement. with out hesitation he said the outside of the defense. d end needs more speed as does the outside backer spots. thin at corner and safety. with out mentioning names he said he believes a prep school and juco player coming in should be able to contribute right away. i'll let you figure out who that was. depth was also a cause for concern but that's nothing new with this team. also mentioned they may still add a player for this year. no other details were given on that. positives: he loves the middle of the d. mentioning mondo, marcoux, wagner, and the safeties richmond and richardson. he likes what he's seen so far in the spring and is happy with their off season work. carter's move to wr will stick and they expect big plays from him. coach couldn't have been a nicer guy and seemed on top of everything and very prepared. i did not get that same feeling the few times i talked to coach fleming. again he was also very nice but mallory has a much better presence to him. nothing ground breaking but its a slow time so i figured any news is good news. if i can remember anything else i'll post
  5. watched the game on the tube. was i the only person that wanted to throw up every time Micheal Reghi called the a-k rowdies the ak rowdies?????? he even said it in front of the new ad and he didn't have the stones to correct him. the man calls mac games every week you'd think he'd get it right bring on bg and can't!!!!
  6. it was for this year only. also read a few things giving toledo some pup for one of the best overall classes for non bcs schools.
  7. was reading up on rivals yesterday and they had some topics on recruiting in ohio. the question was who has recruited ohio the best out of the mac schools and they both said akron and if howard signs akron by a big gap. that is really good to read. the stadium is starting to pay off and ri is starting to finish what jd started this year with a very solid class
  8. great win! to give up 30pts to kool on the road and still win going away is a major step in the right direction. with the tough part of the schedule out of the way akron has to be considered the favorite to win the mac.
  9. getting back to the defense......the front seven has played very well and the kids on the d line playing last year has helped with their production this year. i liked seeing jones line up at corner on third downs. my only issues right now is that thomas has fallen off a bit and campbell sees the field way too much. thomas is supposed to be the leader of the d and too many times he gets lost. happy the a will and wagner have picked up the slack. would mind seeing fleming getting a few more snaps. as for campbell, i like what he can do but he doens't play very well in space. would make a lot more sense to see him in on running downs and keep him off the field against the spread that has a running qb. the team has two other fs in carter and richmond that can handle those downs. if the o improves slightly then i agree with the capt prediction of a strong finish and that's based on the gasp......d
  10. brandon anderson signed to the practice squad click methere was another article that said the bucs put a claim on him but the browns got to keep him. hope he makes the team later in the season.
  11. smith is still rehabbing an ankle. he may be able to play late in the season.
  12. surprised yet happy to see all of the youth on the two deep on the o line. what happened to estrada?the battles at lb are interesting as some names that haven't been talked about are now on the two deep.i don't discount your statement about devo and lafrance but i was hoping lafrance would get a red shirt. the team is really deep at wr. now, if he will get miller's snaps or if jones is still having knee issues then it makes more sense. lartey will be the man in a year! little nervous about the safety pos. seems like they can't get a grasp for roles back there.
  13. from goizps.com click meinteresting so see what frosh are cracking the depth chart so far........thoughts? surprises?
  14. here's the link click methoughts?
  15. i have added to my group this year (18 total). we are section 109 rows 11-12. can't remember the seats but they are in the middle of the row.
  16. you are correct. he isn't showing now. was last week and now there's some new players showing. not sure what the situation with brandt is??
  17. link works fine for me. show all the freshmen even show brandt on it now as a te. could wind up like eric winston starting off at te and growing into an elite ot
  18. here's the link for the big 33 game click meno sound from him but it is a good piece.
  19. would love some updates on the back seven. to me this is the biggest question. who will start and who will fill out the two deep. how do the safeties look since they switched spots. who takes over for grant and d will? lots of young talent but you never know how it will play out.
  20. or if you are desperate for attention you can keep writing about how you hate getting pm's on multiple threads
  21. i agree baller. while i only watched the first half nicely looked better. boucher made a few throws that were across the body into coverage. now i may have said different if i'd seen the int nicely threw in the 4th. that being said i look forward to the duels these two will have in the future.
  22. watched most of the 1st half and Nicely was the best qb on the field. he looks a little bigger too. Boucher reminded me of the former osu qb Bellisari. great athlete but makes bad decisions.
  23. did anyone go? would love to hear how it went and any inside info!
  24. asked about that during the last open house. the response was no charcoal grills. i also asked about the old softball field and was told no plans were made for that field currently.
  25. no favorite team but i picked psu because i always had a blast on that campus and tailgating is great there
