I'll be there as soon as 5:30 for the women game... the rowdies board members (who usually bass the wrist bands) for admission to the lower section should not do that. Instead, they should let every coming rowdy know of the situation and ask them to sit in the GA.
-
Sorry FTA, i don't agree with you either... what you are suggesting is exactly what they want. They want us to fight over the few seats remaining in the south end and fill them while the rest of us will be thrown in section 5. Sorry ! we come in one package, we either occuppy both sides or nothing. And by the way, i believe you when you say that you were not informed about this and what that shows is that this AD looks at us as if we work for them, which we don't. We pay tuition and they get paid to do their job, so indirectly they worki for us. I think that the AD department should hear it from you guys Rowdies board, even if that leads to your resignation.

1 - Only 1/10 of the student body in Akron live on campus and the other 9/10 go no where during the break so that's no excuse.2 - That's in no way premium seating. the seats are behind the baskets' poles.More over, did we sell out all the lower reserve seats so we start selling the student section ? what the hell.To all Rowdies, please have your gold shirts on and please please please do not go down to the south end of the section (the one that is still ours)... we should all sit together in the GA and we should add some new chants to our list.We are on strike, we have to deliver a message to our AD... we are not sheep, and we are not students in the university of cuba.
-
That's really really sick and terrible. I second SGM... have your gold shirt and sit in the GA and watch the game as if you're watching a musical. The AD won't appreciate us until they loose us. Tomorrow is a good time to make them loose us.

You guys, we did not receive cards in the mail... we received emails. If you didn't receive anything that's because the alum association does not have your updated email in their data base.

Before i start, let's make it clear that I am as big of a KD fan as it gets, and that i support him all the way especially with his Akron roots and attitude of staying in akron for a long time. I am however starting to worry about some issues. While i do not question his coaching skills and his game planning, i am concerned that almost every team we play has bigger size than us. I know that you would tell me that it is hard to get a big guy to commit to a mid-major school. Well how did they have 2 guys @ 6'11 in UIC ?How did Buffalo get Idbihi @6'11 ? Northern Illiniois, Can't with their seven footer etc...More over, do you guys like his recruiting classes ? how would you rate his first recruiting class ? Linhart, Rybak amd conyers ? and the second ? I agree with you that it might be too early to judge the freshmen but how about the sophomores? In 2 recruiting classes, McKnight seems to be the only one who can play. Is there a way we can mix JD's recruiting skills with KD's coaching skills and make them one coach ?

Thanks for the congrats... and by the way, we do care.

I think 4-5 3 pointer is pretty good.
-
would you stop bitching ? I hope we win this game to throw it in your face.
-
Ruck those Fefs. they make me
-
Dude, those UIC players have the edge over us in size and home court advantage. J-wood's injury is only making things worse... I have no idea how we're keeping up with them. If we win this one, KD should be considered for NCAA coach of the year.
-
no you're not the only one.

Get the damn rebound... It seems like Quade will foul out soon. Not looking too good.
-
seems like rebounding is going to be an issue

Exactly, when the number of rowdies exceeds the number of available seats, the seats should be given to loyal students who show up for all the games not only Nevada and Can't.I can tell you from a personnal experience... last year, i attended every single home game (literally) and few away games. At home games, i sat in the south side with the rowdies. The last home game (Can't) few people decided to be rowdies (in the last game) and guess what, i stood up in line for 2 hours before the game to be told in the end that i do not have a seat and that i have to watch the game on TV. Once again, is it so freaking hard to sign up and pick your shirts and be regular members? Other than that, if i feel that the AD people are being too controling and that they are inserting their noses in our business than i will be the first one to rebel and go sit in the GA but so far i do not see the need for that.
-
So you guys prefer to sit somewhere else, away from the court and disperse the students in different sections just because you do not want to pick your shirt and wear it and because you wanna swear profenities? also you cannot say profenities anywhere in the JAR (not only in the Rowdies section) to start with.To Balki: the AD Mack Rhoades said in the first meeting that he does not want the rowdies to be a disney rated section... but also not an R-rating section. Some where in between.

I was there yesterday, i am not in the board but i decided to accept the open invitation and see what's going on. I didn't comment yesterday because i thought that one of the board members might do a better job than me but since no body did that i will go ahead and try to give you an idea of what was said.1 - I felt that the Rowdies officers are under some heat from people in the Athletic department. Some decisions made at the meeting are to be approved by the AD to become valid... more over, some one at the AD goes to the Rowdies officers before and after the games and goes: why did you do this and why didn't you do that? 2 - one of the WSSU coaches claimed that he heard obscenities from the rowdies at the South end and according to one of the board members, such incidents can be troublesome (legally speaking).3 - One of the board members wanted to make it clear that they are all students and that they are not willing to look like the bad people in front of the University Administration... therefore a zero tolerance policy should be used to remove any Rowdy who says any profenity or obscenity.4 - Following (3), the board decided to remove any rowdy who appears to be under influence of alcohol during the game.5 - The incident on saturday, (the guy who was removed because he didn't have a shirt) received an extended discussion. a-in order to reserve the limited seating to the registered rowdies who have their shirts, no one without a shirt is allowed down there in the beginning. Only at the 16th minute mark (4 minutes after tip off), in case there are empty seats in the rowdies sections, other people will be allowed in.6 - Following a question, the president pointed out that the contract that all the rowdies signed states that all rowdies should have their shirts unless otherwise noted. The president explained that people who paint their chests or dress up for toga nights etc...would go under otherwise noted. 7 - The band is staying in the rowdies seats for the whole season... (I let them know that i didn't like that but it seems to be an AD decision).8 - Increase the participation of the rowdies in the time out, half time promotions to give them chances to win stuff.9 - The board suggested using the money raised to create promotions (pizza, wings etc...) for the rowdies. I suggested that this money would be better used if invested in organizing trips for aways games. This suggestion doesn't seem to fly because there isn't any indication that a significant # of rowdies is willing to travel and chip in to help defray the cost.10 - the rowdies should help picking their leftovers after the game (pom poms, flyers etc...) because the board members are having hard times cleaning after us.After the meeting, although i didn't necessarily agree with everything the board decided, i think that the board members deserve the credits for taking the time out of their schedules and putting the effort to help organizing the rowdies for no personnal benefit.

I think that next year will be our best... Only Dru and Romeo are graduating and the team will be fine. I would be a little concerned about the following year when (Middleton, J-wood, Quade, Dials, Goddard, Sowers) all graduate in the same time... I am particularly concerned because Rybak, and Conyers (who will be seniors at that time) are not living up to the expectations. Now it is too early to worry about 2 years later... so i will enjoy what we have now.

Skip-zip, who said that the only people who should cheer and scream are those in the rowdies seats? and who said that someone who is 40 is too old to go crazy cheering his team? we actually count on people like you for two things:1 - give us feedback from where you sit... and tell us which cheer was good and which one didn't look that good.2 - wake up the other people sitting in GA or reserved seatsI mean some times it seems that some people in those seats are in the JAR to drink their morning coffee or read their papers.

I understand all the frustration of all of you guys and i am not in the board of the rowdies and i am not here to defend them either. All what i want to say is that it makes total sense to me that a uniform should be required, don't you think ?If we go back to last year, everybody was wearing the right shirt in the first game, few people were not in the 5th game and by the time we got to the end of the season, almost half the rowdies were not wearing their shirts and the section looked awful. If you look at any organized and decent student section, rule number one in the book is to wear the same shirt... so let's cut the rowdies board some slack. When i'm running out of time and i do not have my rowdies shirt, i will happily sacrifice sitting in the upper section rather than sacrificing the organization of the whole student section. -

Our shot was off in the first half, and our defense was not as good as usual. WSSU did not seem to be as bad as advertised. -
I did get it ! it is really cool !

Isn't it sad that we schedule games like that ? if you loose them, it hurts your RPI, but if you win them... wait a second, it still hurts your RPI. It's a "can't win" situation and we still scheduled them.
