  1. I'm sure Akron led at halftime that night. About 56-50. Couldn't keep up with the hot shooting. Dan Hipsher's final season I believe.
  2. Alright, research finds that Ron Blackshear Sr was the dude I watched torch the JAR the last time I visited in February 2003. He made 14 3-pointers in the game and 11 straight at one point. About 3 4-point plays as he was fouled and threw up balls that fell magically through the hoop. Seem to recall 48 points scored that night for the Herd.
  3. For those old enough to remember like myself, there was a Ron Blackshear who played at Marshall, possibly during their time in the MAC. He might have had a brief NBA tilt. This must be his son.
  4. Here's the box score, since the one above (Gametracker I think) didn't have any filler. 502 paid the $20! πŸ˜… Men's Basketball vs Akron on 10/29/2025 - Box Score - Youngstown State University https://share.google/BxL7HVUzziQe3pnnQ
  5. Oggi looking like he looked in Bosnia and Serbia. Not to mention Herzegovina.
  6. The FIBA websites are currently inoperable, but I thought Oggi was shown getting major minutes for Serbia's either U-20 team or earlier at U-17 in international comp. Besides the team in Bosnia he played for last season, he earlier was part of Partizan Belgrade, a major well known Euro sporting club, probably on their youth team. I also found a SI story pointing to the interest Kansas coach Bill Self (among many ranked programs) had in the Yugo. His height is listed as either 6-5 or 6-6 in all the sites I saw, but that could have been 17/18 y.o. 7. Speaking of naming rights -- is there something in the law from its original (state?) financing that prevents the U from selling rights to the name of the basketball arena? I have zero love lost for the person it's named for, but if the school can bring in additional cash with a contract for the arena, why aren't they doing it?
  8. If THAT's all that happens with Oggi, then either this team is so packed with talent it's headed to the Top 25 or, I fear the coaches are giving too much deference to the returning (and veteran transfer) players. Have you SEEN the film?? Ogg (as in "Oh, GEE!" I'm still working on how to refer to him if we meet outside a locker room) competed and scored and rebounded strongly against all-European youth competition. IF he stays more than a year or two, he could be the guy who does what you predicted one of the Mahaffey brothers would do. I really hope he gets time to show his ability vs US college kids on the floor at Beeghley Center coming up shortly. And, I was wondering if coach Weigand has taken him to eat at Belgrade Gardens or any of the other Serbian chicken palaces in the municipality of Barberton... πŸ” πŸ€”
  9. Oggi is really 6'9"?? Can't wait!!! 😁
  10. 3-1 Zips. Remi A. from in front of goal.
  11. Penalty goal by Dobro 12th minute. 1-0 Akron. 29 mins played and X has zero shots.
  12. Both teams having fun in the punting game! 13 yd punt for UB.
  13. I failed to appreciate that Keiryn McGuff is now a Zip! She played 2 seasons at Bowling Green where she played sparingly. However, the most interesting part of the story is her family bio. Her father is Ohio State head coach Kevin McGuff.
  14. IF the MLS had its own Hall of Fame like the NFL or MLB Darlington would undoubtedly be a shoe-in. I wonder if he has a shot at the US Soccer HOF, which I just learned moved from Oneonta NY to Frisco TX at the command of FC Dallas.
  15. So they're going to develop an entirely new bureaucracy to administer one sport? How will that work?
