    Does anyone know if Rachel Martindale has been nursing an injury? It sure seems like the second half of the season we had just four reliable bodies on the roster... Move on and motivate for a Big Result in Cleveland and beyond!

    Some surprising scores early on in Saturday MAC games. Bowling Green after their recent home loss to NIU is having lots of trouble, down 35-21 at the Strohs to UB. And PCCC WAS having trouble vs EMU, trailing 23-13 after one, but outscoring the Eagles 16-2 to take a 30-24 lead with 3 mins left in the half. Katie Shumate has 16 already.

    Great effort by our team versus the cream of the MAC! 28 point first quarter for Zips gave them a great start, but Toledo had too many arms and legs. Proud as heck of this group!!

    I don't think it's too early to start playing the game of "Who's Next". So, here goes. An obvious place to look is C-Guth's last location, home of the Green Bay Phoenix -- a long time mid-major power. Their HC, Kevin Borseth is in his late 60s and has over 700 career wins in 35+ seasons. His 2nd in command is Megan Vogel, who is surely waiting out her time till she can climb into the HC box. 3rd is Sarah Bronk, who's only experience outside Green Bay is high school jobs. I'm a follower and fan of Florida Gulf Coast, who's HC Karl Smesko hails from Hudson. Karl's def not leaving the comfort of Fort Meyers, even for a SEC or ACC job. But his Associate HC is a promising young gal, Chelsea Lyles who could potentially be within reach with the right package. Sorry to see this thread and this season be taken over so prematurely by a coaching change, but I'm not the one in charge... 😒

    The one interesting point no one has added is that the general (non-ZipsNation reading) public will find out in about July or August when they see a small feature on the web mentioning that someplace like IUPU (just pulling a name out of my head 😉) has just named Melissa Jackson as their new WBB coach and they'll say... "Hey! I thought she was Akron's coach!" Ahem.

    I hear The Basketball Tournament is interested in advancing all the way to the title game, so they can ensure high streaming and Gametracker ratings for a showdown between Louisville and Georgetown. Only problem is the Hoyas may have blown their big chance by beating a former NCAA championship game team. Has Georgetown ever played for a title?? 🤔😜

    Is this the magic 8-ball speaking? 😉 I don't see how anyone can judge this team in any way other than to have overperformed given the caliber of talent present. The coaching staff has gotten more than should have been expected from the talent base. So the problem isn't as much coaching as recruiting. And there's no way recruits -- not to mention current players -- are likely to be excited about being part of a program that cannot receive support, or even adequate praise from administration. Given the overall level of financial and systemic problems in the athletic program, so-called "minor sports" including women's basketball are unlikely to compete for conference championships anytime soon, excepting those like track and field/CC , swimming, tennis that have already experienced success. Not of course considered our men's soccer program a "minor sport" at Akron. Only a major injection of cash, which seems between unlikely and impossible is going to change the overall situation. But others may disagree... 😃

    The "official" UA vs Toledo preview seems to indicate the game has been picked up by CBS Sports Net. However, the intro to the preview still shows it on ESPN+. And my TV log for Tue afternoon HST shows Rhode I. at St Louis. Gee, I hope the preview is right.     Can anyone find Enrique's career statistics? How many rebounds does he have and where does it sit on the Akron career list? The records I found don't list him, or only show yearly averages.
