  1. Zips face 3-12 Central Michigan at the JAR tonight. It seems if there were EVER a time to give more players an opportunity to see the floor, tonight is the time. Also, Toledo travels down to face the Bowling Green Falcons in a duel with post-season positioning built in.
  2. If stats matter then John Groce should send a bouquet of flowers to Stan Heath.
  3. For Akron to contend, or even get close, I think we will have to beat both Buffalo and CMU on the road, as well as home.
  4. Sad loss for Akron today. Outscored by 17 in fourth quarter. 🥴
  5. Shout out to EMUSteve, a really good guy who I used to converse with 20 yrs ago on the MAC email list. HurEagles haven't progressed much since then! Oh, they DID win a bowl game!
  6. Zips lead 32-23 at halftime over 13-2 Bowling Green. Stifling defense is this team's MO.
  7. Didn't see any of it, but looking at the box, one thing stands out: Akron made 24 of 30 2-point baskets! That's 80%...quick math. I got Cs in the freshman math classes! 😁
  8. "You don't have permission to access this resource." is the message I got when I posted Dakota's #Zipemup tweet.
  9. Wacky MAC: Northern Illinois makes up a seventeen point 4th quarter deficit to beat Toledo at home by a point. Same Toledo that beat then #14 Michigan a month ago. Akron's 11-2/2-0 mark sits atop the conference at the moment.
  10. So...Zips have ANOTHER potential Puerto Rican National Team player? 🤔
  11. "The Zips went without a field goal for the game’s final 11 minutes. Players didn’t move. There was little ball movement. “Until we have better ball and player movement and execute better offensively, we're going to lose games,” Groce said. “So, you're going to have to figure out how to create more open and easy shots. The shots were too difficult. I didn't think we exercised much patience. I thought the ball player movement was awful. Last seven minutes of the game, too much hero ball over dribbling. It was just bad.” " 3 assists as a team is the fewest I can recall...EVER.
  12. That's ONE. Take a bow and sit down! 😂
  13. Did the Ball St. basket count? 31-30...or 28???
  14. Really? Who am I thinking of?? Doh! 😱
  15. GoZips.com schedule does NOT show any TV. What network is it?
  16. Zack Steffen, starting goal keeper at Middlesborough FC in English Championship.
  17. Reagan Bass POW! https://getsomemaction.com/news/2023/1/2/womens-basketball-akrons-bass-earns-player-of-the-week-accolades.aspx And, Coppin State also took Cant to OT before folding again.
  18. Hankerson 3 points on 1 for 6 shooting. So much for showing off to your old team... 😧
  19. Just reading this thread. I agree Dwight was the most talented and athletic player to lace 'em up (#Zipemup) for UA. He led the nation in INTs his senior season and was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. If I recall correctly he had SIX interceptions just in the month of September. In four games! He came to Akron from Detroit because of his size, a 5-10 safety probably could not be recruited to a P-5 school, but he had great strength, and obviously great hands -- always wondered how he would have done on the offensive side of the game.
  20. Joining Tom Herman's new coaching staff as FAU moves to AAC. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/35323491/charlie-frye-agrees-become-florida-atlantic-oc-sources-say
  21. 13-5 MAC. This conference may be worse than people think. 😂 14-4 if we can win game 2 in Muncie. Split with Cant, Ohio and Toledo.
  22. Catch #16 (or try). 13.94 high hurdles time. Fla state champion. https://www.nfl.com/photos/18-for-18-college-football-s-fastest-players-0ap3000000936388
  23. They have the Dutch Nike wooden sneaker contract!
  24. Sorry, I'm just tuning in and I missed the X-Cast! But Xavier apparently missed sparingly! How do we keep finding these All-MAC transfer combo guards. Or how does Groce? 👀
  25. I'm the LEAST contradictory person (and most humble I might add) on this board, but I can't help wondering if OU's all-time scoring leader, Dave Jamerson from Stow -- who made 15 3-pointers in a game once is not also the school's three-point shooting leader, at least in total 3 FGs made. Here's the scoring list, though no #BeyondtheArc record listed. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_Bobcats_men's_basketball_statistical_leaders
