Announced attendance 1,385. Is that the smallest in JAR history? 😬

Zips' performance. First half: Chateau Lafite Rothschild Second half: Yellow Tail.

Not. Aging. Well.

MSU Bulldogs debuted (I think) in the poll this week at #23. At 8-0, they're a 7.5 pt pick on the road at Minniesota today. Our performance was well within the standard deviation. They might well end up an eight seed or better, i.e., top half of the bracket.

If you're going to the basketball game today, be sure to offer your congratulations 👏. And say how good he would look in blue and gold! Campus visit this weekend to UAkron.

Stevie tweets about what the late Grant Wahl meant to his comeback from a career-ending injury and the psychological consequences. I'm still in shock as we wait for info on how Grant passed. No media member was more important to the grow of the World's Game in America.

This week's updated women's Mid Major Top 25. Zips receiving votes while the MAC has 5 of the top 20 teams. And Cleveland St at...was it #10 I think? A victory over the Vikings would HAVE to move Akron into the top 25 one would expect. https://collegeinsider.com/womens-mid-major-top-25

The CSU game ought to be much more competitive than the men's contest with Jackson State -- if not it will raise questions about Groce's squad...or coach Jackson's depending on the circumstances...hope I've not confused anyone! lol. Cleveland State is now 7-1 with their only loss to top-10 Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. They own an overtime win over usually nationally ranked DePaul in Chicago. Also defeated Oakland, Akron's only loss by 23 points at the Woolstein Ctr. Vikings are led by Jr guard Destiny Leo from Willowick with 17.8 ppg, a 39% 3-point shooter who's made 26 of 27 FTs. However, they have a long rotation with 11 players averaging over 8 minutes per game. I suspect Cleveland State would be near the top of this year's MAC WBB standings if they were members. This game should tell a lot for both teams.

If you're going to have a Division 3 coach, you could certainly do worse than U. of Chicago's Juliane Sitch! 😘🤩 https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/35177051/uchicago-julianne-sitch-first-woman-coach-ncaa-men-soccer-team-title

Class of '23 Offers & Verbal Commits
Z.I.P. replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Lester Miller and Braylon Burnside are the Mississippi first team all-state WRs. Could they be a package deal? https://cdispatch.com/sports/2022-12-06/check-out-2022-mississippi-association-of-coaches-all-state-football-teams/ -
From PU website. Foster trying to get some of that Steph Curry magic! John would have been a great Akron coach, if the AD had accepted my advice. "Brother, Foster, played at Michigan State before transferring to Davidson before this season. Foster was Michigan's Mr. Basketball in 2018, while Fletcher was the runner-up."

She's a dribblin' machine! ❤ to go between the legs! 🤣

You guys are way better than the ESPN Gametracker! 😉

They're going to year down the Heisman Lodge along with the Bowl. That seems such a shame, especially before they come up with any redevelopment plans!

I was reminded of this because both Akron AND Maryland traveled to the West Coast early that season and lost. Zips were defeated by both Washington and Seattle 2-0 and 2-1, while the Terps lost @Washington and @Stanford to start the season. Including games vs Virginia and UCLA, Maryland was 0-2-2 over their first four. Similarly, Akron won just 2 of its first seven, going 2-3-2 after leaving Seattle. Goes to show, the start is only as important as the finish to the season, and after losing the B1G title game to Indiana on PKs, they won five NCAA Tournament games and the trophy. UM was the 11 seed? I can't find what if at all was Akron's.

Was cup-winner Maryland seeded? They started the season terribly. Lost to U. of Seattle and had losing record after a couple weeks.

MAC Women's Basketball: Ball State makes the trip to the Beehive State and comes home with two big victories. Defeated usually nationally ranked BYU in Provo 61-56. That after scoring a 25 point win over Utah State earlier this week. Lady Balls look like another NCAA tournament quality team.

Yep! I remember the last time we played Nevada, in a return game of the Bracket Busters, we got jobbed by the Mountain West refs and I discovered I was seated at Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu behind the MW Commish of Refs. What an amazing coincidence!! He couldn't understand why I was so hot under my collar. I let him know the coincidence. 😆

Glass Rockets crash late again. Lose to basketball power East Carolina by 11.

Above here I made the prediction that they would hit the top 25 I think I said by the first of the year. Was MU ranked? They'll be our colleagues in the Big East next year... 😉😉
