  1. Yea this Wide-Reciever corps is going to be the best, not only in the MAC, but will rival almost any team around. These kids truly have me excited to see how they do and where they can take this team. Just to be able to have 2 guys on the outside over 6'4" and speedster's like Harvey and Lindsey, is awesome, BUT all these guys also have an intangible that will make this corps SCARY... they all have outstanding hands, that will make this group elite.
  2. Yea thanks... sorry about that, for some reason I thought Tate committed to us. Prolly got scared when he saw Harvey commit/sign. Either way, this guy has no ground on anyhting he says, he just likes to talk... its cool with me, hes making an ass of himself by talking crap and not backing his arguements with facts haha. :macc:
  3. Actually I disagree... JD's goal is to turn this team into a BCS school. That's why he has really pressed for the stadium to seat 45k. This staff is really shooting to join the Big East... it's in their 4 year plan. JD has already turned down jobs for almost double the money. He is a very wealthy man already, money will not draw him outta Akron. The only way he'll leave Akron IMO is if the AD and him aren't on the same page but the new guy seems to be right on JD's page. His contract extension efforts and stadium push proves it. He is close to his wifes family who live near Pittsburgh. HE'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE ANYTIME SOON... IMO this program has way too much upside to even be talking about him leaving in the next 5 years. It would not SHOCK me if Akron moves to the Big East and JD coaches here the rest of his career. But then again anything could happen.
  4. I dunno guys. This topic is definitely a fun one. I am so excited for the blue-gold game i could wet myself. To have so much talent at such an important position once again shows J.D.'s recruiting power. And on top of that all these guy are leaders (you have to be to play the QB position) and you've got Jabari at WR. That's for sure these guys are going to have some fantastic targets with David Harvey, D.J. Henderson and Gerald Tate adding to Jabari Arthur. With Harvey and Tate getting some playing time this fall and Henderson might too depending on whether he redshirts or not. I dunno if anyone has watched Tate's highlight film but he's pretty dang impressive as well. Gerald Tate VideoI know CJ (Carlton Jackson) was the prize jewel last year. I also know Hakes is getting alot of Hype and has J.D. all jazzed that he's here early. IMO, the battle will be between CJ and Hakes. If CJ wins the job Hakes becomes the back-up and Chris Jaquemaine moves to either Safety or LB, IMO. If Hakes loses the job Chris Jaquemaine stays at QB with CJ moving to WR (he'd be an AMAZING WR w/his size and speed). Can't wait for the Blue-Gold game...
  5. RedSteve...Jamel Miller hmmm... he's probably a "superstar" seeing as he didn't get offered by anyone but MU. He really had a tough decsion to make on signing day. There was not one school that I listed that had not offered the players. I am not stupid I would not list a school that the player has interest for. Why don't you do a little research before responding next time. Oh and by the way here's the # of BCS offers your signees had compared to Akrons signees.MU:Big 10- 10 offersBig east- 3 offersACC- 2 offersSEC- 2 offersTotal=17 offersAkron:Big 10- 8 offersBig East- 7 offersSEC- 1 offerPac-10- 2 offersACC- 3 offersTotal:21 offersMore sought after class = AkronIt hurts don't it... :macc: And will be for years to come
  6. I'm sorry are you being serious... MU's class haha okay break it down for you...Let me clear things up for you. WR David Harvey- 4 star recruit coming out of h.s. #16 reciever in the Country. Had offer from U of Miami (FL). C Mark Jackson- #7 Center in the nation 6'6" 301lbs.WR D.J Henderson- Top 100 reciever in the country. Chose Akron over USF, UCF and Ohio U. VideoWR Gerald Tate- Juco WR, playmaker who also returns kicks.VideoRB Andre Boone- #36 RB in the nation. K Igor Iveljic- #5 kicker in the nationwhich brings me toQB Sean Hakes- Won back to back State Championship's in TX and was in the top group at the Elite 11 in Las Vegas (which included Matthew Stafford, Zach Frazer, Demetrious Jones, Alex Cate, Jeremy Ricker,& Josh Freeman) He graduated early and is already at Akron. Brookhart has already said he's the prospect in this class he is most excited about. If you need more validation that he's gonna light up the MAC, here you go...Senior FilmJunior FilmNow name one player MU signed better than any of these kids... oh and by the way I am better than that but I didn't want to blow your ass away, THANKS. How about you go throw on your North Face jacket, pop your collar, drink a Michelob Ultra and think again before you come at someone that is way more knowledgable when it comes to Football. :macc: BIAAATCH
  7. 1st Question: In the past 10 years how many QB's has Toledo had start in the NFL? And/or start as a Rookie in the NFL at QB for that matter? 2nd Question (which you failed to answer, did a good job avoiding it though):Who is going to replace Bruce "The Great" Gradkowski??? The reason I push the question is because I have seen your back-up in action and I know who you guys are pickig up this year, I can't find the answer. Figure a TOledo fan would have that answer to give me, so...You don't have to worry about us "living in the glory days of Charlie Frye" you need to worry about who we've got for the FUTURE...Enough Said (You're just Lucky I couldn't find a picture of D.J. Henderson haha)
  8. Who Cares if they "pulled" the offer. Toledo lost a guy to UConn, Akron got a commitment from a former UConn commit. We win you Lose simple as that. You should be more concerned about your QB position for next year rather than some DE you lost.As for us... we've had that covered and will for a long whilePastPresentFuture
  9. "we get the top players and have the top teams because we have the tradition of winning and the top coaching staff in the MAC."
  10. Yea they just made observations of what they saw on Rivals and Scout.com hahaha, what great research!!! Just read Hakes's evaluation and you'll see they definitely made his evaluation on his Junior tape only. I will give'em credit for a pretty good eval on D.J. Henderson but they just don't have very goo research behind their evaluations. http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...recruitId=23808http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/...recruitId=21978The FUTURE...
  11. It's cool we'd beat you guys up at Toledo anyday for players so I'm not too worried about it. Try and get any player to go see your facilities then come look at the facilities in Akron and it's a laughing matter. I've seen both and I can understand why I can't find a link to Toledo's weight-room facility and practice fields on their site. HAHA... I wish we could play that cocky team up north every year. http://gozips.collegesports.com/genrel/011005aaa.htmlTHE FUTURE...
  12. Yea your buddies father is a little too optimistic... but I think he will get drafted, watch out for the Broncos to deal with Hickson due to the J.D.-Shanahan ties to come into play there. Just a guess...
  13. I didn't see it... why do you say it wasn't a good display of the university?
  14. Hixon has the talent... alot of whether or not he gets drafted will depend upon how he fairs at the NFL Combine. I think Hixon will do very well in the NFL because he hasn't been playing the WR position for a long time and he is only gonna get better.
  15. Now I bet you're thinkin why is Ben Roethlisberger a topic title on our Akron Zips message board... well hopefully everyone remembers that "Big Ben" played in the MAC. The better the MAC players do in the NFL helps the MAC in general public perception of the MAC. Charlie and "Big Ben" are helping Akron get out-of-state players who might not know about the MAC. For instance Sean Hakes sought out Akron from TX because of Charlie Frye playing for his dream team to play for the Cleveland Browns. As well Carlton Jackson coming all the way from South Florida to learn from coaches that can develop QB's to be drafted into the NFL. The perception that Super Stars in the NFL come from the Mid-American-Conference will attract top notch football players for years to come.
  16. Hopefully big brother will help bring in Zac for the Zips. Sounds like one heck of a prospect, but I heard he is looking to play tight-end in college which is where he is playing in h.s. but Akron is recruiting him as a lineman. Also heard they might be trying to get Kris to move to line, for his own benefit... he could be making alot of money with his size and quickness at the next level. I personally like Kris at tight-end alot, I feel like he's got alot of pontential.
  17. To be honest I think Chris will be moved to linebacker, and Carlton will stay at QB and back Hakes up in 2007. Where Carlton will also get time playing at slot-back. Getsy will do a good job this year and teach Hakes the pocket presence and leadership skills for the team, and Hakes will begin his journey in 2007. Carlton will have NFL potential at WR not QB, I think he'l realize that after spring ball.
  18. C'Mon Nike... come in put some money into the program... while you're at it you can make us some new unis... Make'em classics and in turn Akron will continue to get better and better and while they get all this publicity so shall Nike. Plus I'm just not a fan of Adidas.
  19. What's the deal here... to be honest if LeSean "Shady" McCoy (4 stars) and David Harvey (4 stars) sign with Akron tomorrow it would really be huge. Have heard Harvey's a lock for Akron... but jury is still out on McCoy. This class could be the start of something great.Just curious... was Harvey's QB in h.s. Anthony Morrelli?
  20. Interesting... didn't know Jose Cruz was from Bishop McDevitt... makes believe it even more.
  21. There's always a chance... trust me everyone here understands how slim that chance is... BUT crazier things have happened. The fact that JD runs a very similar offense to the "running back friendly" offense of the Denver Broncos helps us out alot. As well JD coaching in PA and having alot of players he knows by playing against them already on the team from PA. The team at Akron is very close nit and has a very team oriegnted attitude, could be a good fit for a guy who needs support not only as a teammate and as a student. Let me reitterate I realize how big of a steal this ould be and what the chances are of this happening 99 percent NO, BUT I also believe that it's worth discussing because there is that 1 percent chance that it could happen.......................................................The chances seem to be even higher according some of the posts. BTW with the class we have already Akron is going to dominate the MAC for at least the next four years. With McCoy this class could take us BCS in 4 years. Specifically the year where our only non-conference games are Army, Syracuse and Kentuckey... I think thats 2008.
  22. He could be looking to pull a fast one and keeping the Akron move hush hush... at least thats how I hope it is.
  23. Yea that last message was written by the same reporter today...
  24. riginally scheduled to announce his decision next year, Rivals100 running back LeSean McCoy out of New Berlin (N.Y.) Milford Academy has changed his plans and intends to announce his decision on Signing Day, Wednesday. Who is the 5-foot-11, 204-pounder deciding between? Jan.30 (TODAY)RB McCoy to announce on Signing DayMike FarrellRivals.comMcCoy plans between USC, Virginia Tech, Penn State and Miami."LeSean will be committing to someone and signing on Wednesday," said Milford head coach Bill Chaplick. "I know his final four schools are Penn State, Virginia Tech, Southern Cal and Miami. He's been in contact with all four of his finalists recently and decided to make a commitment."I don't know which school he'll pick or a time he is set to announce on Wednesday. He plans to firm up a schedule for a press conference sometime Tuesday."Some speculation has been that McCoy may be looking more at Penn State now that Pat Devlin committed and Vidal Hazelton is still considering it, but there appears to be no truth to the rumor as McCoy hasn't been in touch with Hazelton recently.Originally, the four-star running back was scheduled to announce between Penn State and Virginia Tech.Despite making a decision, McCoy still plans to be at Milford through May 2007.McCoy is rated the No. 43 prospect and No. 7 running back in the country. He is also the No. 2 player coming out of the Keystone State this season....................................................................................................................................................Could Akron have slipped into Pennsylvania and stolen a GEM???
  25. Wow this class would be crazy good, imagine... McCoy, Hakes, Henderson, Igor kicking, and a Solid O-line... WATCH OUT Buckeyes (8-7-07) The ZIPS are coming to town!!!
