  1. Also another nice little tidbit... if he were to transfer to Akron, he would sit out this season and be eligible for the game at the Shoe Sept, 7th. Just a little perk for him I guess.
  2. Adding to that Adidas has been stepping their game up a little bit lately. Signing Reggie Bush AND Mario Williams was good for them (I dunno if anyone has seen his new commercial but it is sick). The new commercial they've got with Reggie Bush is advertising their new "TouchFit PowerWeb" gear, it's like Underarmor, pretty cool wonder if the Zips will be wearing these, like the nike schools do?http://www.adidas.com/us/sports/americanfootball/content/
  3. Is anyone going to post some summer workout photos? I'd just like to see who all is there? Does anyone know if they will post any on gozips.com? I know alot of other schools mainly big schools post photos every week just wondering if the zips were gonna post any. ThanksBTW heard that David Harvey is there for summer workouts but haven't confirmed it. Anybody know if he's there and if so how he looks?
  4. Just wanna mention I was one of the people saying Jackson would play WR from the begining. Jaquemain outplayed him in the Spring Game and Jackson is too talented to be third string... they'll move him to WR and he'll do a great job, he'll probably play a "Randle-El" type WR for the Zips.
  5. QB: Getsy looked smooth out there and is going to be the rock this Offense needs to keep it together and not make many mistakes. The Offense just seemed very fluid with Getsy at the helms. IMO Jaquemain looked alot more comfortable and threw a much better ball than Jackson. Jackson seems to take a false step when he throws. As well Jackson seems to be ansy in the pocket like he's ithcing to run, but the times he did run he looked quick but not as fast as advertised. Jaquemain made some mistakes but stayed poised throughout it all, IMO I think Jaquemain solidified the #2 behind Luke and Jackson will probably get moved to WR. Which will be good cause he looks like he is more comfortable running the ball. I overheard some people talking about Hakes and they were saying, he hadn't practiced the entire spring and that his first snap he took in Akron was in live action at the spring game. They also mention he found out he was playing at 9am on gameday (thats when the he got cleared according to them). He went 2-3 not bad for a kid who just got outta h.s. and has never taken a snap til game time. WR: Jabari looked very good, along with Jermaine Lindsey, Johnny Long and Fuqua. Fuqua had the best catch of the day, with the catch in the endzone from Getsy. The recievers all in all look very solid and adding Kasparek at tight end they are going to be great targets for Getsy and the future QB's to come. They are a very bright spot on this team and are only going to get brighter with the addition of David Harvey and the other recruits they brought in.RB: Kennedy looked solid, but Alex Allen really impressed me with the way he ran the ball. He ran downhill very well and ran with a purpose. Very solid performance over all.
  6. Winning championships and going to bowl games help the money situation a bit. If they can win back-to-back MAC chapionships and win the bowl game next year expect JD to get the biggest contract in the MAC by far. I think the new AD won't give up JD without a fight.
  7. Add the Ohio State Game in 2007 too.
  8. It's just too bad it's in Toledo muhuhuhuh
  9. Go Old School with it... IMO I think the old plain "A" was really nice looking on throwback day. Imagine putting the old helmet with the new unis... BTW I heard that there will be new uni's worn this year... word is carolina panthers style. That's just what I've heard can anyone confirm this? They actually don't look much different than the ones they already wear.
  10. Preach Rasor
  11. Conference doesn't matter... September 7, 2007 Columbus Ohio. Akron goes into probably the biggest opportunity to show to the nation they can play with the big boys. They direction that they are headed is one that as much as you might not believe COULD someday lead to a BCS bowl. Look at Utah... sorry if they can do it so can Akron. I have faith in JD that he can do something great at Akron and remember that date September 7th 2007 the state of Ohio and the rest of the country will know that the Ohio State isn't the only team in Ohio. If anyone can do it it's JD. GO ZIPS
  12. That's what the word is supposed to be. Too much B-Ball talent so they're gonna have to have a shake-down.Will it affect the MAC??? Probably the MAC and Mountain West seeing as they are argueably the two best Mid-Major Conferences I could see two of the poor football/good basketball teams leaving the Big East and two Solid or up-coming Mid-Majors moving in... potential to get better will probably be important. Akron has to win the MAC in football the next few years convincingly to have a true shot IMO. But the stadium project and any other sucess the school has will help. I don't see Toledo being the school with the most "potential" in the MAC. If any coach in the MAC could make the move and recruit the players needed to do it... it's JD. Hopefully Dambrot and they boys on the hardwood will have a nice little run in the NIT, anything that helps the image.FEAR THE ROO :macc:
  13. Here's the results from the combine...WR times: http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/...sitions/wr.htmlSaftey times: http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/features/...ositions/s.htmlAfter looking at the numbers Hixon is "by the numbers" at the top of the pack at either position. With his versatility I can't believe he isn't getting more looks. Hopefully this combine will change that.
  14. Didn't know John Cooper (Bad Coach, Good Judge of talent) is now a scout for the Bengals. Heard he was very impressed with Hixon and pulled him aside after the workout. Side Note: Charlie Frye came in to throw with the recievers today as well.
  15. Hixon just ran a 4.38 three times at Akrons Pro-Day... WOW. The scouts are all talking to Brookhart as we speak.
  16. Yea I am definitely excited to see Jackson play... would especially love to see him pulling from center with Kennedy behind him. This is the first that I have heard about him being a prop 48 player though. But I am really intrigued by Stoudemire... I mean c'mon look at his brother and how athletic he is. I wonder what kept him under the radar and basically a virtually unknown prospect? Does anyone have any info on him?
  17. Guys I can't wait to see that we haven't seen much/any of...RB Dennis KennedyRB Alex AllenWR Jermaine LindsayQB's Carlton Jackson/Sean HakesTE Jose CruzI am also very interested to see how the D-Line shapes up after losing some of the guys that we thought would be there.
  18. Although i see the reasoning in that UA would get alot of exposure by going to the NCAA Tourney... I think success is always better than having your team on T.V. getting beat by a better team. Look at Ohio last year... it hasnt helped much this year for'em.
  19. Yea my bad about Henderson the rb I meant Kennedy. I must be too excited for D.J. to get here, freudian slip. Yea I think you're right about Carlton being the back-up but with Hakes's arm I think he'll be the second most impressive. You have to remember that Jackson and Jaquemain have been running scout team and not Akron's offense all fall, so this will be their first "real" reps as well, just like Hakes. Also I would think with Jaquemain's size he would be too big to be a receiver. He just seems too wide, kinda built like a linebacker. Did he play defense in h.s.? Should be an eventful spring... I can't wait for it to start.
  20. I guess some of the other DT's are gonna have to step it up. I'm interested to see how the OL transfer from Minnesota, Jason Sekinger, performs this spring. He could be a real good addition.
  21. Back-up QB... I think it's gonna be Carlton Jackson, I think he's better than Chris Jaquemain and I would think Sean Hakes is going to be redshirted most likely. BUT I also think that when it comes down to it I'm gonna go with Hakes having the most suprising spring game (2nd to Getsy), but regardless he'll be redshirted so he's not the back-up.
  22. Now I know it's a little early but it really is right around the corner. I couldn't wait any longer. Let's do some predictions... who will stand-out or step-up the most in Spring Ball/Game?My Guesses...Jabari Arthur will be the biggest stand-out IMOJermaine Lindsey will also have a big SpringRB Henderson I think will lock down the starting job at RB as wellGetsy will become more polished and in-sync with the WR's too
  23. Thought you guys might get a kick outta this... it's his facebook picture
  24. All I can say is... "Get'R'Done"!!! GO ZIPS!!!
  25. Heard Joe Montana was on campus today, does anyone know anything about this?
