  1. We will see, I believe he has the choice. With Gavin playing in NE, it's possible he'll go HG. Portland is currently sitting on the 4th pick, it's possible Porter could take him there.
  2. MLS has Caldwell at 7, and Trapp at 17. The MAC has 3 players in the first round. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012...draft-prospects
  3. The site works fine using Safari on the iPhone and iPad. On iPad now and no problems.
  4. Hopefully the little soccer buddies that go out on the field before the game don't disappear
  5. Attendance so far for the MAC Team Home Games Total Average Akron 5 14704 2941 West Virginia 8 6121 765 Bowling Green 7 5229 747 Northern Illinois 3 1192 397 Hartwick 4 1575 394 Western Michigan 6 1799 300 Florida Atlantic 3 759 253 Buffalo 6 1174 196
  6. Link for games http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soc...en/divisionid-1 Northern Illinios has a chance to redeem their season tonight
  7. It doesn't look like they check tickets anymore for the west end reserve section. It was such a bad idea to make it reserved.
  8. This is a tough setback in his life, I hope he can recover and get back on his feet.
  9. those seats suck and do not improve the experience casual fans should receive. We have a team that dominates, the end sections only get action during one half of the game. This would not be expensive at all and needs to happen:
  10. for the first time in awhile, the west end reserved section was decently occupied during the Buffalo game. I'm wondering if they're giving the reserved tickets to the people buying group packages so that the area doesn't look empty like it has for the other home games.
  11. To be fair, the stadium seating capacity is probably less than 2,000. Our stadium does not meet the expectations of casual fans. Casual fans are usually not going to be season ticket holders. The main grandstand is season tickets only leaving the casual fans with limited access to the general admission areas or the crap reserved section behind the west goal. I noticed a lot of casual fans having trouble finding seating last year during the games we had over 4,000 people. A lot of people were meeting up with people and couldn't sit next to each other because of the limited seating in the area. The inconveniences the casual fans experience during those big games reduces the odds that they'll be back for another game. The main grandstand desperately needs expanded to meet the needs of the casual fans. I believe we've already talked about this stuff in the stadium expansion thread.
  12. Link for scores http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soc...en/divisionid-1 UCONN vs Georgetown on Wednesday should be a good one.
  13. Porter had something to say about the student turnout
  14. Western Michigan and West Virginia played to a draw
  15. I truly believe Tom Wistrcill is an awful athletic director and I'm very worried about this. Embick is the safest choice.
  16. Hopefully there's still parking in lot 9 with the football game on, starting my tailgate at 5
  17. Updated the stats for Zips in the MLS: http://akronsportsnow.com/zips-in-the-mls-...012-mls-season/ Former Zips have scored 22 goals and assisted goals 11 times in the 2012 MLS season.
  18. The Akron women's soccer team has a goal to set an attendance record for the MAC this Friday. Here's their promotional video.
  19. We had a different AD then. The thought of Tom Wistrcill hiring a soccer coach scares me which is why I'm hoping Embick lands the job.
  20. UA's giving away $7,500 to the winner of a punt, pass, and kick challenge. I've never seen a promotion like this before from the University of Akron. It should help bring students to the game.
  21. From what I've been told, Embick was the main recruiter for a lot of our top players.
  22. Seven years ago, we were replacing a successful coach that quit on our program because he didn't believe it could reach the top. Porter has proven to everyone that Akron can reach the top and was well compensated (highest paid college soccer coach) for doing so. Akron has a legacy that needs maintained (hire a proven head coach), not built (take a risk on an assistant coach).
  23. I don't believe the job will go to an assistant unless it's Embick. There are going to be college head coaches around the nation gunning for this job.
