  1. I thought he decommited and verballed to Army?

  3. I see that Canton McKinley just fired their head football coach. It seemed like he was building a relationship with Bowden. lets hope their new coach is pro Akron. I also see where Mills has gotten a petition to keep him as the coach. http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_new...ing-controversy
  4. It is doable with the right person guiding the program. This is very much a what have you done for me lately kind of society. A few years of success, coupled with a big time name running the program makes anything possible here.
  5. As long as you arent being an idiot the police won't say anything. They know this would be another reason for fans not to show up. I never hid my beer this year when the police were walking through. I usually asked them if they wanted a refill on their coffee, etc.. and they typically smiled and come over to chat. The whole key is not being irresponsible and causing scenes.
  6. i was going to reply, but not even worth it.
  7. Ianello ignored NE Ohio because he had no familiarity with it. Sure, he touched base a little when he was with Notre Dame, but this was not his "region of expertise" and he obviously wasn't very good at going outside of his comfort zone. All you have to do is look where Ianello was recruiting and it was mostly all in areas that he recruited at his previous stops. He had no chance to succeed at Akron in the areas that he was focusing his efforts. Bowden's approach seems right on.
  8. I don't know if I can recall a time where I read the Beacon Journal and had the opportunity to read four quality articles about the zips (2 football, 1 basketball and an article on Blackburn) in one day. It is an exciting time to be a Zips fan and obviously the hiring of Bowden and the success of our other programs has resulted in an increased interest from the community. When we start to have success in football I truly believe the sky is the limit for our athletics programs.
  9. Care to expand on that?
  10. Breda-Brinda, whatever. He is a moron. I feel dumber ever time I listen to that idiot.
  11. WKNR just needs to get rid of all their drive home lineup. I can't take Brenda and negative Ned. I flip the channel every day to 92.3 and they are only slightly better.
  12. Bowden will be on am 1540 at 8:15 this morning talking with munch. Heard munch discussing it on my way to work this morning.
  13. I will be back in lot 9 this year as I am renewing my 4 tickets. My parents are renewing theirs and my buddy that I always brought just purchased 2 for him and his wife. They will be in Lot 9. As for beer, I will bring some lazy magnolia southern pecan from Mississippi for "southern day".
  14. I rarely go to the basketball games because the venue is so poor. I can't stand spending the money on tickets and then having your view blocked by a rail or people walking the track.
  15. Their mobile qb was running for his life. Not sure how the statue version would have helped.
  16. I mostly agree with this. We were fairly competitive early and then the team flat out quit.
  17. Didn't realize out program died, but ok.
  18. Yes. And we will continue to be the lovable losers because we cheer on our best players when they leave our program because we are no longer good enough for them.
  19. No way. That is like your wife dumping you for another guy and you tell her that she is still welcome to come to your family functions.
  20. Good riddance. If he doesn't want to be here, then he isn't a true Zip and I don't want him on the team. Have fun with Dick Rod and his pathetic defenses. That hurts to say because he has been my favorite player for 3 years.
  21. Yes, and they love bringing up games from the early and mid 90's. How on earth is that remotely relevant to comparing the school now? Also, the MAC is on a different level overall than it was 15 years ago. Just look at the NFL players from the MAC in the last few years.
  22. Those ysu fans are beyond ridiculous. Possibly the most delusional fanbase that I have ever seen for being such nobodys.
  23. My brother in law lives in Raliegh and I guess sports talk radio discussed the Zips for about 10 minutes last night. I guess many of the people down there are still upset about Amato being released from NC State. He said they were calling Akron the "FSU of the north". He also said they interviewed Danny Kanell on the show. I guess Danny spoke with Tommy Bowden at the Orange Bowl about the new Zips regime and jokingly said that he should join the staff in some capacity, maybe as the recruiting coordinator. He said Bowden's face got all serious and he said "I would love to do that". He also said people in Raliegh were stopping him in the grocery store last night to discuss the hires. He was wearing an Akron fleece. Funny how we went from nobodies to the talk of the town in a matter of days. I can't imagine what some wins would do if those got tossed in the mix.
  24. He does look quick. Maybe he will be switching him to linebacker??
  25. I hope Jeff Bowden isn't the offensive coordinator. He got run out of Florida State because his offenses were terrible.
