  1. The MAC absolutely blows.
  2. Yardwork done. Couch, meet my ass. Ass, meet the couch. Time to settle in for the rest of the day. What a slate we have that leads up to the game of the night - Akron vs Indiana. For some reason, I have growing optimism. Maybe it's because I'm watching some decent offenses and thinking Akron's offense can't be putrid 4 weeks in a row. Maybe it's the vitamin D. Who knows, but LET'S GO ZIPS!
  3. Welcome to the board! Go Zips & Go Browns!
  4. I'm not really sure where to post this, but the Pat McAfee Show is/was live from South Bend today. If you've ever watched McAfee, he has a member of his crew that does a damn near flawless Lou Holtz impression. Today, the most amazing thing happened and Lou Holtz got to interview Lou Holtz. "I graduated from Kent State and our motto is Can't Read, Can't Write, Kent State."
  5. If... IF... IIIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFFF... Akron magically finds an offense that can consistently move the ball, Akron wins this game. The defense is good enough - in fact the defense is probably one of the best defenses in the MAC, maybe just behind Ohio - to win any game they play. They need complementary football to get over the hump and into the Win column. With the epicenter of the college football world being in South Bend this weekend, just a few hours north of Bloomington and Touchdown Jesus overlooking in the background, it feels appropriate for a Ricky Bobby prayer... Dear Baby Football Jesus, in your golden, fleece diapers. Please use your baby football Jesus powers to bless Akron with a miraculous offense. One with competent QB play and an abundance of touches for the running backs. We can only hope that with these miracles, Akron can pull off the upset and extend the streak of the MAC being the Big Ten's kryptonite. Woo! WOO! Owww! Competent offense: 31-20 Akron Status quo offense: 27-10 IU
  6. Looks like there have been TONS of offers sent out in the last few days per X.
  7. 6'5" 300 lbs OL. @catdaddyp Do you have more info on him?
  8. Getsy vs Fields is heating up yet again. Last year, Getsy got a lot of credit for "fixing" Fields. This year, he is being questioned as Fields continues to regress.
  9. Former Missouri enrollee. 6'2" DB. Previously held offers from FIU, FAU, Iowa State, Miss. State, and Texas State.
  10. This is correct. It's a home-and-home with the first game being pre-set (Southern Miss) and the second game being rank based (not sure if it's standings based or RPI - or whatever the new ranking system is called).
  11. Don't love the Heidelberg/Brick U Hamilton combo. Otherwise, solid schedule.
  12. This recap sounds like the days of Porter. The biggest gripe was always "wanting the perfect shot" but on the flip side, teams packed the box because Akron was far superior. Hard to be mad if we're approaching the Golden Days again.
  13. Much like the Browns, the Zips have play-calling issues as well where they're seemingly allergic to the middle of the field. I think the OL has the 2nd most room for growth behind the QB, so maybe it's just Joe trying to get some of the negative focus away from the QB position. Play-calling improvements could really help both positions. I figured it was a pretty simple, implied equation... Attacking the middle of the field + more RB touches = Touchdowns No thanks. Love this game time. The bulk of my day isn't taken up by a potentially ugly & disappointing Akron game, I can sit down after putting my girls to bed and relax with some aggravating Zips football, and if the game gets too bad, I can switch over to Penn State/Iowa & OSUcks/Notre Dame.
  14. Well that doesn't sound very Christ like...
  15. *Unless they've been on the field for 90% of the time because our offense has a gazillion 3 and outs and turnovers.
  16. Is this goalie the greatest goalie of all time?
  17. https://twitter.com/JordyScruggs/status/1704188075985752492?t=PfP7RmJGfSRHNXrBUklDQQ&s=19 5'11" RS Freshman JUCO DB.
  18. Has this really been that big of an issue? I posted in the other thread that crap like this seems to be amplified by the offensive struggles. Maybe I'm so focused on our offense being "cheeks" (shaht aht Pat McAfee Show) I'm missing a penalty issue. I will add one more thing. - Golden not on PR/KR
  19. I don't care if we lose this game, but I need to see 2 things. - Middle of the field passes - More touches for our RBs
  20. It's not about "calming down" and it's not about being an overly negative Nancy troll. It's about being frustrated. Did anyone expect Akron to beat Kentucky coming into the season? No. However, it was circled with a "maybe" next to it based on what we saw from our offense last year. What we are witnessing is a complete regression on offense that is way closer to Arth Ball than supposed JoeMo Ball. That is what's so damn frustrating about that game last night. We're an embarrassment on the side of the ball that draws interest, draws fans, and is supposed to be the absolute strength of the head coach. What's even more frustrating is Kentucky tried to, at the very least, allow that game to be a one score loss if not an Akron upset. It was right there for most of the game, and only got away from us after we failed to capitalize on a plethora of opportunities. Our offense looks like I'm watching with DirecTV from the mid-00s on a stormy day - constantly buffering, never smooth. Gaining 2 yds is incredibly difficult and everything is side to side - not up the field. It's one of the worst offenses I've ever witnessed, and that's not hyperbole. To top it off, we have don't have a reliable, DI kicker, so even 3 points on a stalled drive is difficult. I don't care as much about the shoot-yourself-in-the-foot crap; those few plays are amplified with every play mattering in our garbage offense. Our defense will win us some games this year, and I'm hoping we have enough on offense to win a few more in the MAC. But man, I am incredibly frustrated right now. I expected to progress this year, not regress, at least offensively.
  21. Turned it off. We should be 2-1, maybe even 3-0; Kentucky is not good. Instead, we're barely 1-2 and wondering why our offense is unwatchable. We don't have a QB, our play-calling is atrocious, and have consistently failed to finish drives.
  22. The official GIF of Akron football...
  23. A DOWN THE FIELD PASS! WOW. That was also a really bad throw. I see why we don't push the ball down the field.
  24. INT! This defense is keeping us in it. Please offense. Please freaking do something.
