I hit a 2 leg parlay of unders (BUGS/EMU Under 157.5 and OU/Buffalo Under 158.5). My thought process for BUGS/EMU was EMU would maybe hit 70-80, and BUGS would struggle. Complete opposite. BUGS shot out of their minds. EMU is a poorly coached team. Heath has as much if not more talent than anyone in the MAC, and they're consistently embarrassed by their opponent - home, away, on the moon, etc. Balls is the team to watch in the West. Coach Kowalchoke finally has competition, and much like his March performances, I think Toledo folds a bit in the regular season.

The battle of the Dambrot recruits was a dud.

WVU OL. 3 years of eligibility left. Many P5 offers out of high school.
-
No, but can the Zips tap into some of the 4*/upper 3* guys that these transfers bump down on the totem pole? Much more likely.
-
X's "sprained wrist" just gave this team a massive boost by learning to play without him, gaining confidence on their own. That was a good win, but man, NIU is atrocious.

The under 134.5 and NIU +15.5 is looking beautiful.

The onboarding process isn't going to affect a guy who allowed his players to find out about his departure via Twitter. Guthrie should be so far out of the crosshairs on this. Beals is a grade A jackwagon, exhibited by his lack of respect for the players first and foremost. Guthrie tried to make a splash hire on a guy with a lot of success in the sport at this level. It didn't work out. Ce la vie. Tim Donnelly has been named interim HC. 2016 CUSA Asst. Coach of the Year. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2023/01/03/akron-zips-baseball-interim-head-coach-tim-donnelly-hired-replaces-greg-beals/69775389007/

2023 Outstanding Offers
Let'sGoZips94 replied to catdaddyp's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
My assumption with some of these high school guys is they get P5/upper G5 offers earlier on in the process (spring at the latest). Then the transfer portal gets flooded right before signing day, and the conversations that previously complimented said offers change. "We have playing time." "Hey, we had playing time before, but we are going in a different direction with this position. The offer stands (or is rescinded) but I can't guarantee what I could before playing time wise." One of the benefits for G5 programs when it comes to how the TP affects HS recruiting. -
Typical Kent State scumbag.
-
"Blessed to have received an offer from anywhere that isn't surrounded by cornfields."
-
BUGS is losing their 6'7" WR

Life savings on Akron plus the points. Hammer it.

We need more Barstool/MAC events. I love it. Can't wait to be one of the MAC bowl WINS next year. Also, for those that haven't seen, Cincinnati FC is hosting a bowl game next year. The Cincinnati Chili Bowl. I wonder if the MAC will have a tie in.

Not D1. Not watching.

2022-23 Akron Football Off-season Tracker
Let'sGoZips94 replied to Let'sGoZips94's topic in Akron Zips Football
Zero issues with this. He was at Syracuse prior to KSUcks. I wonder if he and Reno have a relationship. Congrats on getting out of Portapotty County, Jeff! -
You're on my "don't trust" list now...

That's phenomenal scheduling. When it matters - February & March - we'll have the advantage.

Interesting prospect here. 6'5" DE from Va Tech. Also an All American Wrestler. We don't have wrestling. I wonder if that hurts our odds.

Class of 2026 Offers
Let'sGoZips94 replied to Let'sGoZips94's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Freshman DB with a slew of P5 offers already. I'd imagine the hope is he doesn't quite develop into the type of player the P5 schools are hoping for, so they rescind their offers and we're left at the table, having been one of the early offers. -
Bingo, and we're already seeing potentially the next leap forward for this staff in recruiting the portal by landing former 5 star RB Linguard. Quite frankly, the portal hasn't had a whole lot of movement in general. The amount of fish left in the pond going into the second signing period is abundant and growing. Looking forward to some big adds going forward. Wouldn't be surprised if 60-70% of our All 22 comes from P5.
-
Agreed and pretty much exactly what I meant by "better product". Instead of the 3 star studs being 3rd string depth chart guys at OSUcks/Bama/etc., they're becoming 1st string studs for G5 schools. It is very much so a product enhancement tool for the vast majority of college football.
-
Oh, also, another Safety for KSUcks is in the portal.
-
Exactly the reason why, when JoeMo was assembling his staff earlier this year, I put together a chart tracking the previous stops of each coach. The amount of P5 experience is unreal and a true asset. It's not just "Oh look, JoeMo coached Saquon Barkley," or "Our RB coach produced the #1 RB in the nation at UCONN." It's "Remember how JoeMo coached Saquon Barkley? Yeah well the connections he made while recruiting/coaching that stud led to (insert name of current stud player) coming to Akron."

I forget if it was 92.3 The Fan or the Pat McAfee Show discussing this, but the idea was thrown out that the NFL could become a pay cut for some players that wouldn't be selected in the first couple of rounds. That's a wild thought, but good for these players. An Indiana basketball player used some of his NIL money to pay off his sister's student loans. Loving this NIL stuff. The college athletics product will be better for it in the short term and long term. Never forget, when social media influencers - particularly YouTube - started to become prominent, NCAA athletes were barred from this income. NCAA eligibility was on the line for anyone who wanted to make that side money. If it feels "out of control" now, just remember how overly controlled it was previously, then laugh at the chaos that has exploded in the rich elites' faces that lined their pockets on the backs of student athletes for decades.
