  1. Absolutely. But he was probably getting similar incentives at Oregon, plus twice the annual salary, more realistic big goals achieved (College Football Playoff/New Years Bowl Game), etc. He wants to be at Akron. We should be thrilled/hyped/etc.
  2. You must be a blast at parties. By the way, it takes two to tango. Instead of taking shots at the Athletic Department (for faults of previous administrations, not this current one) for making the hire of the decade(s), maybe thank Joe Moorhead for believing in Akron and wanting to be at Akron enough to take nearly a 50% pay cut.
  3. $1.2M. This would be the final year of Moorhead's 5 year contract, should he still be around. Looking at future schedules... 2022 is Road Trip year, with Michigan State, Tennessee, and Liberty all being desirable road trips for Akron fans. Who knows how competitive Akron will be in Moorhead's first year. 2023 could be an undefeated year. I'm only somewhat kidding, but the OOC has 4 winnable games. 2024 needs a game, still, but I like UK, South Carolina, and SJSU. 2025 is winnable so far. 2026 is winnable. Point being: under Moorhead, these schedules are aligning nicely to equal both big pay days and upset victories.
  4. Wagon Wheel, Bowl Games, MAC Titles, Recruiting Class Rank within the MAC, etc. Those are my guesses, on top of any other non-obvious incentives. $500k for Moorhead is incredibly University-and-program-friendly. I'd imagine the plan is to allocate any additional funds to his assistants (he's clearly building one heck of a coaching staff) and the recruiting budget. Zips fans owe Moorhead their attendance and attention for wanting to come to Akron, and not raking Akron over the coals to get a HC with his experience.
  5. Interesting thought. OSUcks just hired their Cowboy brother's DC to the same position. Not sure what that means for Rhoads.
  6. He took a shot at Mississippi State (presumably for prematurely firing him) by mentioning that the Egg Bowl (Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State rivalry game) hasn't been won since his departure. I wonder if this was a slight shot at Cristobal? I don't know what their relationship is like, but I haven't heard many good things about Mario from Oregon fans.
  7. Does anyone have the video of Zippy beating up all the mascots and the Flash crapping an egg? I have a feeling it will be not only relevant, but accurate once again.
  8. When he was breaking down the 2005 MAC Championship Game play, I had chills. I'm sure that play has been a staple in his pitches to potential employers, but to remember that much detail 16 years and X amount of jobs later - amazing.
  9. JoeMo said during his press conference that he will have the staff in place by the 2nd(?) of January. With him coaching Oregon's bowl game on the 29th of Dec., I wonder if there are any Oregon guys (McClendon specifically) that could be following him to join the staff. Additionally, the vast majority of bowl games will be over by that point. I wonder who else he has targeted that will be coaching in bowl games for schools not named Oregon.
  10. This is an incredible press conference. There is a genuine passion for Akron from JoeMo.
  11. As much as I want his full attention to be on Akron's program, this could be a massive benefit for us. 1A) Cristobal is gone, meaning Moorhead is free to unleash HIS offense, should he so choose. 1B) Should HIS offense light it up against Oklahoma, with Akron having already hired JoeMo, it can be used as a selling point to transfers/recruits - "look at what we could do at Akron" 2) There are 2 P5 schools involved in this game, and both programs have/will have new coaches. That means there are depth players that might be looking for their next opportunity. Enter Moorhead and Akron, with Moorhead having a mini-opportunity to build quick connections with some of these players. 3) The staff he has in place already - Ferri, Richardson, Gilbertson, Rodriguez, Fessler - can hit the ground for recruits and transfers. Ferri is a known talent when it comes to recruiting, as he produced the MAC's #1 recruiting class in 3 straight seasons ('05-07) while at Akron. I'd imagine Richardson, Gilbertson, and Rodriguez will have no trouble themselves considering their backgrounds.
  12. That's easy money. From Georgia... Brother is a 2022 GT commit at OL... ZG5 was a bright spot for Arth. Waiting so long before committing to him (only after 2 other QBs were hurt) exposed Arth's inability to play the best talent available.
  13. Ya gotta love it. If that's the foundation, this program is in good hands.

  15. There are 4 hotbeds to recruit - Ohio/Western PA, Florida, Texas, Southern Cal. If we're in two of those four automatically, it's hard to go wrong.
  16. If Konata doesn't think he can make it to the NFL at Akron - especially with Moorhead - then I don't want him here. Soon enough, this team will be full of guys who see a path to the NFL through Akron. If Moorhead talks to ZG5, Mumpfield, etc., and they end up staying - awesome. Otherwise, good luck with your next school.
  17. Love these young guys (Gilbertson, Fessler) with already strong backgrounds. The Urban Meyers, PJ Flecks, Matt Campbells, etc., come from somewhere. Here is a list of experience on this staff so far... HC: Joe Moorhead; Big East, Big Ten, SEC, Pac12 OC: DC: QBs: Billy Fessler; Big Ten, SEC RBs: Terry Richardson; Big East, ACC, SEC, NFL WRs: David Gilbertson; AAC, Pac12 TEs: Reno Ferri; ACC, MAC OL: Joel Rodriguez; ACC, CUSA DL: Winston DeLattiboudere; PAC12, CUSA LBs: DBs: Tre' Bell; SEC, ACC ST: Allen Tucker; SEC UPDATED 12/13 2:00pm
  18. Intelligence aside, which logo should we send them? 😉
  19. Assuming the above guys sign the dotted line, we will have big time Big Ten, PAC 12, SEC, ACC, and NFL experience on the staff between 4 coaches, with still the OC, DC, and several other position coaches to go. Two of the guys already on the staff have been at Akron before and will know how to sell the program to recruits/transfers. This is EXACTLY what I was expecting when Moorhead was rumored to be the guy. Absolutely STOKED it's playing out how it is.
  20. Able to? They are. Smart enough to? They are not.
  21. College basketball must really suck if Toledo and OU are top 100.
  22. Non P5 schools need to create their own Bracket Buster event again to help with this. I miss the anticipated payback visit from Nevada, VCU, NDSU, etc. Those were fun.
