  1. I don't know if we know what the MAC is yet. I definitely think it's a combination of Akron/Canada/BFE Ohio U/UT/PCCC at the top of the conference, but it has been that way for some time now (minus the random BUGS/Balls/EMU runs). PCCC always tends to get better as the season progresses, but "better" is limited by Pinky's low ceiling.
  2. 6'6" DE. Went to MSU with Moorhead, left after his departure and transferred to Memphis. Now is coming to Akron to reunite with Moorhead. Had offers from Louisville, Memphis, and Mississippi State out of high school. Big kid.
  3. JoeMo was just at Hoban the other day. The stars are aligning. So those are Big Ten and PAC12 guys looking for their time to shine. I'd imagine DeLattiboudere is targeting Campbell. Looks like Onyechi might fall under Ferri's territory? So that talent on the field looks like it might match the experience in the staff - P5.
  4. Akron has proven, in recent years, that Forward doesn't always mean "scorer". Are either of the two "Forward" recruits snipers? I'm all for a cohesive, talented midfield as well to help create offense. We. Just. Need. To. Score.
  5. Am I missing any positions? HC: Joe Moorhead; Big East, Big Ten, SEC, Pac12 OC: DC: Nick Toth; PAC12, SEC, MWC, CUSA QBs: Billy Fessler; Big Ten, SEC RBs: Terry Richardson; Big East, ACC, SEC, NFL WRs: David Gilbertson; AAC, Pac12 TEs: Reno Ferri; ACC, MAC OL: Joel Rodriguez; ACC, CUSA DL: Winston DeLattiboudere; PAC12, CUSA LBs: DBs: Tre' Bell; SEC, ACC ST: Allen Tucker; SEC UPDATED 12/18 4:56pm
  6. I'm really hoping this means those two positions will be filled by higher-profile names that are coaching in Bowl Games.
  7. Updated and quoting this so it stays current with the discussion and isn't lost on page 2. I learned this tactic from @Illini Zip and his thorough updates on the Zips Men's Basketball Scholarship thread.
  8. That's two more coaches with P5 experience. Tre Bell Winston DeLattiboudere
  9. Do any of them have a cannon for a leg? This team desperately needs a scorer - or two.
  10. He had a lot of opportunities.
  11. Yep. Looks like the ACL injury took a toll on his overall speed/quickness, but he's still solid back there. My biggest complaint about Cribbs was his habit of running into the biggest crowd of people on most returns. Sure he busted a few for TDs or longer gains, but I don't recall his career being as special as people make it out to be. I'd much rather a heady guy back there, like JoJo.
  12. What a heads up play by Natson just now in the Browns game. Put his foot out of bounds before grabbing the ball on a kickoff, effectively marking the ball out of bounds. Akron education > PCCC
  13. Packed house. Incredible Sunday afternoon crowd providing an unbelievable atmosphere.
  14. Freeman was in an ad for something, too, although I can't recall what it was for.
  15. Game Day. The anticipation is palpable. (Although I am actually excited for the game. Gotta love Zips basketball on the laptop with the Browns on the big screen.)
  16. Interesting. He'll likely bring in a whole new staff full of his guys, but I wonder if McClendon will be retained due to the Georgia connection.
  17. Do they still run the triple option?
  18. EMU wins by 4. 92-88. The Eagles scored 55 points in regulation. Typical Rob Murphy... I mean... errrm... Stan Heath?
  19. What a weird way to word a simple offer.
  20. That was Ken that said that. Lima is a Suckeye honk, although he did actually graduate from Ohio A&M so it's a bit more acceptable. He gives Ken all sorts of crap cause he won't root for tOSU. This interview was 100% driven by Ken, but I did appreciate after the conversation with Moorhead concluded, Lima emphasized how big of a hire this is. His Suckeyes effectively got beat twice this season by Moorhead's scheme, so he would know how good of an offensive mind Moorhead is. Well when the local media asks all of 3 questions at the introductory press conference for one of the biggest coaching hires in school history, it's not hard to figure out he might need to take matters into his own hands and get any publicity he can. Haha.
  21. Exactly @GP1. A lot of national/P5 talking heads bash the Transfer Portal, using the same BS talking points. "Kids are running from adversity," is probably the most common one. I think part of the bashing is how much it harms the NCAA's moneymaker - P5s.
  22. I think that's the joke @Cykron was making. However, if Cykron thought he was actually talking to Joe Moorhead, we might have another Ray Kinsella situation in the corn fields of Iowa... Ease his pain, Cykron, ease his pain...
  23. JoeMo is on 92.3 The Fan with Ken Carman and Anthony Lima. - He was in the parking lot of Hoban during the call. His son is in 8th grade, so they're taking a look at the school. - Stressed local recruiting, but also mentioned that the staff he's building has connections all over the country. - Stated they're not going to do anything in this first signing period for recruiting. Needs time to do a roster assessment. - Brought up the 2005 Snow Bowl against PCCC. Stressed the importance of winning the Wagon Wheel. - Stressed being prepared, being ultra competitive, detail oriented, and playing for all 4 quarters. - Mentioned beating Matt Rhule's Temple program while at Fordham. Also reiterated his success at Mississippi State. The interview started and ended with our fight song. Ken was obviously fired up, and Anthony mentioned how great of a hire this is. JoeMo wrapped it up with, "This interview has me when more fired up. That's a big Go Zips!"
  24. 1 year of eligibility remaining. Should he spend that at Akron, let's go. Build that foundation for the program under Moorhead!
  25. Interesting. The lack of transparency when it comes to the defensive staff... does that indicate that the individuals are coaching in a bowl game(s)? Paul Rhoads was mentioned in another thread.
