  1. That's how I took it. "Look, what you're hearing is true. But that doesn't take my focus away from making sure our offense kicks Utah's ass on Friday night. Anymore questions? No? Cool. Go Zips - errrm... - I mean Ducks."
  2. He speaks... Edit: Worth noting that his name hasn't really been attached to any other openings. He has been on speculative and wish lists - that's it. Most vacancy speculation lists have removed him by now, anyways.
  3. ... before accepting a HC job? Is someone else putting 2-and-2 together that we're 36 hours past the start of the rumors and the only job Moorhead is tied to is Akron, with no denial from anyone at Oregon? Is it Saturday yet?
  4. He went from Mississippi State to Fordham, his Alma Mater. I don't think money tops the priority list for Joe Moorhead. He got a raw deal at Mississippi State, too. I could see wanting to accomplish something at the DI level as a HC being a top priority for him. Akron is the perfect place to do it, I'd say. 😉
  5. Other than making our rivals pee themselves if we hire "one of the nation’s top offensive-minds and an elite recruiter" in Joe Moorhead, no. But the thought of striking fear into the entire MAC with this hire is awesome in and of itself. By the way, "one of the nation’s top offensive-minds and an elite recruiter" is the opening statement on Joe Moorhead's official Oregon page.
  6. OH BOY! The stench of Kent State pee yellow liquid dripping down their leg is getting stronger (then again, that's just the stench of Kent in general)! P.S. Pry is all but official based on numerous sources. Moorhead being listed in the same breath gives validity.
  7. Interesting. He was with Moorhead during Joe's time at PSU, and Pry's father was with Moorhead at Akron.
  8. On top of the Moorhead to Akron prediction, how cool would it be if Beamer Ball was once again alive and well in Blacksburg?
  9. "Heaven" would like to have a word with you. Ironically enough, both teams in the 2021 Field of Dreams game scored more points each (9-8 was the final score) than Iowa's football team in two games in 2021; the combined score was as much or more than Iowa's point total in 12 games since Ferentz took over as OC.
  10. I'm out of reactions for the day, so here is my "like". Interesting that what you're hearing revolves around the Pac12 Title Game. Is Moorhead hoping to keep confirmation hush hush as to not be a distraction in the media prior to the game? Otherwise, the media rumor mill is already flyin', and he ain't denyin', so let's make this official so you can coach your ass off on Friday night and Zips fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Haha. What are you hearing about the backup plan, if any? Is there legitimacy to Kevin Wilson or Ferentz? To generalize it maybe a bit more, is it strong P5 Coordinator or bust with this search? I've been following the Twitter search as well, despite not having a Twitter account. Thanks Jack for all of the free information. To echo my above statement and previous members' posts, we're nearly 24 hours into the rumors of Moorhead to Akron. There isn't a single person outright denying it, nor is there a single legitimate connection of Moorhead to any other vacant position. That is extremely promising to me. There are ONLY tweets about him to Akron - legitimate ones at least. There are zero "sources" that talk about him going anywhere else - only wishful fans of other programs not understanding how they might lose out on one of the top offensive minds in the game to AKRON.
  11. Despite vacancies at Duke, VaTech, ND, etc., there are no new mentions of Joe Moorhead to anyone except Akron via Twitter's "latest" search for "Joe Moorhead".
  12. I've seen Fickell as the top dog for that job, but I agree, Moorhead makes sense for that job if he has any interest in Notre Dame.
  13. Brian Kelly to LSU. Notre Dame has entered the chat.
  14. That's because he should be. The typical path of a middling P5 OC is the MAC, not a top 10-15 P5 OC, especially one with previous P5 HC experience (and solid experience, to boot).
  15. The Athletic has updated its candidates for the VaTech job, removing Oregon Offensive Coordinator Joe Moorhead. The article was posted 5 hours ago, although I am not a subscriber and do not have an edited time stamp to reflect the removal of Moorhead's name. The other names removed have either been hired (Billy Napier/Florida) or signed contract extensions (Dave Clawson/Wake Forest, Hugh Freeze/Liberty).
  16. If I remember correctly - presumably part of JD's pitch - Larry Fitzgerald told Frye he should stay at Akron because he'll enjoy playing for Brookhart.
  17. From yesterday, but Penn State news getting in on the action. Wording: Former Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead expected to be named Akron head coach.
  18. Underrated component to this search... Would Moorhead be able to bring anyone with him from the Oregon Marketing Department? We'll need a boost in marketing to promote the boost in the football program.
  19. License Plate or it didn't happen. Did anyone track any Eugene to Akron flights?
  20. Are we seeing any other Transfer Portal appearances? Might help put the puzzle pieces together. I could see Konata Mumpfield staying, assuming we hire Moorhead. I was worried about him leaving for a bigger program, but Moorhead's offense would be fun to play in, I'd imagine. A guy like him could put his name on the NFL's map with a solid QB/play-calling.
  21. Oregon might have a backup that knows Moorhead's offense. 😉 I do wish ZG5 well. I thought he had the potential to be an excellent QB in the MAC.
  22. Oklahoma student reporters gathered video evidence that Spencer Rattler lost the starting job following their game against Texas. The blue checkmark is fulfilling, but not the end-all-be-all in today's crooked "journalism". For all we know, these lower-level sites could have studied Yahoo's previous coaching vacancy reports from years past, and seen a pattern in verbiage that foreshadows said-candidate getting the job. For as much buzz as there is for Moorhead to Akron, there's equal silence for Moorhead to any other vacancy. Possibly telling.
