I don't think he'll turn over half the team again. Last year the guys that left were the ones who didn't buy into the system and caused locker room issues apparently. This group has bought in, just lacks the shot making ability to put it all together. Based on the scholarship chart, next year will be mostly his guys, albeit a few from the couple years of rushed/piecing together classes. After next year is when it really becomes his team.

Not at all. This team is playing some great basketball - minus the shot making part. The mental game is still there, which is key. Only a week and a half left of February, then it's a whole new ball game.

100% agree. I'll nit pick Groce's decision tonight to not have a rim protector in there at the end, but the hustle and defensive intensity is there night in and night out. It's not his fault the guys don't make shots consistently. I still think we're going to be dangerous into March - where Groce tends to excel.

Let me tell ya. It's a real when we can't make a damn basket all game, then proceed to semi-catch fire to get back into the game, only to lose.

I can't wait for Groce to get a roster full of his guys. Although I'm very impressed with how this team has bought into the game plan. We just need one. more. shooter.

Ask the defenders of Smollett how instantly believing the "victim" worked out for them. I didn't pass judgement on anyone. I believe I've actually said I want to see what all the facts say. I just struggle to understand how someone can beat the snot out of someone unprovoked, especially in a sport where altercations are somewhat common, but involve actions by each party involved. It's common sense to think there would be some sort of provoking history. I didn't blame the victim for being the victim, though.

I mean it might not have been provoked in that moment, but do we know the history between the two? I mean for someone to literally and continuously beat someone unconscious without any ill-will towards them in the moment or from previous altercations is disturbing and I agree with @akronzips71 that he should have been deported - if it was truly unprovoked.

O-BooWho should be a butt whooping again. They are awful. Miami is a coin toss, and tonight will be a difficult challenge. Buffalo is what it is, and Can't is a rivalry game on the road. Tonight is key to maintaining confidence/momentum.

That's the most detail anyone has mentioned as far as to what took place. Glad Gueye is gone. Not buying the unprovoked part, but the striking multiple times is alarming. I hope the Tampa basketball coach has some common sense to not let him play ball there. It'd be a more glaring issue if we were a better shooting team. Hard to get an assist when the guy on the receiving end doesn't make the shot 65-70% of the time.

This makes too much sense. I would also have to imagine due to the short trip that the cost for Akron would be significantly less than paying Howard or Morgan State. I'd prefer a 2nd or 3rd pay day with a bigger school, but this is as good a FCS game we'll get.

I didn't think it was a negative interview at all. I thought Groce nailed it. We didn't play well last night offensively, but our defense kept us in the game. He said the teamism was bad, which I couldn't tell but I'm sitting in the upper level, not down behind the bench. I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting guys to be better teammates and lead by example. The only other negative he mentioned was frustration with Utomi's mistakes I believe. He also made a quick comment about the 12 free throws Massinburg had, and said, "We'll leave it at that," when it comes to the refs. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a full interview worth of material, ripping the officiating. He talked about the positives of Cheese and I believe Jackson, too. Can't remember how the interview concluded, but he typically leaves it with getting back to work and getting ready for the next game. Nothing wrong with that.
