How many teams period could say that? This Zips team is just awesome. Haha. Go Zips!

This team is for real. In past years, Zips teams would lose these type of let down games after a big win. Not anymore. It's crazy because we have 2 teams that can be put in.

Murray State and Creighton would be awesome. Iona and Davidson would be ok. Oral Roberts and the rest aren't very exciting. Butler would be cool, but not much help with our RPI.

Norton High School student. Born in Akron. My dad brainwashed me once I was born to bleed blue and gold, hate Ohio State, and LOATHE Can't State. Been a die-hard Zips fan ever since. In the winter of '06 I got a chance to sit with the AK-Rowdies and they basically adopted me as an honorary Rowdy. I have stood with them since then. Probably won't go to Akron as I plan on playing college tennis, but THE University of Akron will always be #1 in my heart. If I'm able to attend Zips games is actually one of the factors (minor) for which school I potentially pick to go to. Haha.

Ball State has Jones and that's it. We have 9-11 players that can all contribute and have been contributing. No contest. Zips 80 Ball State 58

He is an athlete. He's done everything for Wadsworth. I'd say he's about 5'10 if not a little bit taller, but his build is that of like a Maurice Jones-Drew or Ray Rice (not comparing him at all to these guys skill wise, just an idea of his physical attributes). I don't know about his speed at all, but he has that shorter, stocky build. One that is hard to tackle.

I played T-Ball with Jack Snowball and take a class at Wadsworth while occasionally seeing Jack in the halls. Dave Snowball is his father, who was a coach for the Zips in the 90s-early 00s. Bowden definitely needs to be aware of Snowball. The kid has a very solid build with tremendous running power. The Wadsworth offense was ran around him, leading them to an undefeated regular season and a deep run in the state tournament. I, for one, would love to see Jack become a Zip. It's sad to see such a great kid, with the accolades he has, not get any big time looks. Would be a steal for Bowden and his program.

That T on Zeke was ridiculous. Cooper had no business getting into Zeke's stomach (too short to get into his face) after apparently giving him a cheap shot in the back on the foul. Q didn't need to say what he said, but Groce was running his mouth the whole freaking game, going ballistic at the end, and never got T'd up. That being said, it was nice to see the bad officiating go our way for once. Haha. I feel like Zeke changed the game with his presence alone. Q had some prime shots. Harney had a very nice game. Treadwell had a solid day on the boards, as usual. Nitro finally had a breakout game, nailing some shots. Abreu and Nik had some stupid plays, but overall had decent games. I like Gilliam out there. He doesn't contribute much on the stat sheet, but he brings hustle and and exciting game with his athleticism. Walsh is just smooth. Very fun to watch him play. I really hate that school. It is so sweet to beat them. Not impressed with anyone on that team. Baltic seemed to be a very improved player since last year, but he doesn't have that take-over ability. Taylor might be a great player in a few years, but his inexperience shows. 3-0 in the MAC. Buffalo cannot be overlooked with the Can't game looming next Saturday. LET'S GO ZIPS!

Firestone seems to be getting some solid players for their sports. One of my best friends just moved in with his mom, who lives in the Firestone school district. He was Norton's QB, and was the top DIII QB in the state during the regular season, top 30 QB in all of Ohio. From what I've heard, Firestone has a couple Ohio State football recruits. Could be a solid football team next year. With the addition of Payne, look for Firestone to do some damage in multiple sports next year.

The Chest...

My friend is the kicker for Mount. His name is Tim Scott. He graduated from Norton in 2010. At Norton he was a 4 sport athlete; cross country, football, soccer, and track. How he landed at Mount, I'll never know. He said it was due to his lack of knowledge on the recruiting process. His longest FG made was a 65 yard attempt. He is actually transferring to Boise State after this semester (so basically now). He is hoping to walk on and kick for them. Lord knows Boise needs a kicker. He could be the answer. Just thought I'd throw out this inside information. Haha. Go Purple Raiders!

Zach will have very little ammo if that's his plan. While Winters first season may not produce a ton of wins, we will see competitiveness, fire, and competence in managing a football team and coaching a football game, something that has been sorely lacking around here recently. By year #2 Zach will be embarrassed to have ever opposed his candidacy, as will a few other people around here. Ianello gave us a lot to gripe about both with his hire and lack of qualifications and his ability to run a football team. Winters certainly will not. My point is...there were many, Zach the worst, who crucified Ianello before he even coached his first practice. Whoever is chosen…we need to rally support around the guy. Any of the 4 would be a good hire and I will support. The sad thing about having Ianello was anyone with a pulse is going to be better than iCan'tCoach, at least in the fans' eyes.

Well crap, if it's Mark Stoops then I may have to change my vote. Is there a write in nominee? I would have to cast my vote for Caleb Porter still. The guy has the key to the city.

Maybe he saw Denzel Washington? If we could get Denzel Washington to be our coach, and he just gave speeches from Remember the Titans to our players, I'm sure they would perform better than then have been. Is that the best movie ever or what? That movie wasn't about football as much as it was African-Americans and whites coming together to achieve a greater goal. A lot of the quotes were for that reason. You're right though, it's one of the best movies ever and some quotes would be successful. Plus, Denzel would raise attendance. Haha.

Until Tressel or the University makes a statement that says something to the effect of Tressel not coming to Akron, I will be a believer that it's true. I still believe Tressel will be the next Zips coach.
