  1. Dodgeball I believe. I was thinking once I saw ESPN5 "Man, did Rome transition to cornhole or something? That's a bold strategy Cotton. Let's see if it pays off."
  2. A lot to like. Slow start, shots weren't falling early, Cedarville came out like a motivated DII team should and played well. Akron put it together in the second half and once the shots started falling, it was smooth sailing. The ball movement was great from the get go and I found our shot selection to be solid. Very impressed by Riak, Cheese, and Christian Jackson. Riak didn't have a great game but his fundamentals are strong for a guy his size. Good handles and strong free throw shooters. Cheese is gonna be a game changer with his ability to get inside and finish. Christian Jackson is probably the best PG we've had since Abreu. The kid has a high motor like Antino but is more under control.
  3. He's out with a back injury I believe I heard pregame.
  4. Wow. What happened with Hester? Shots aren't falling but the ball movement is good. Everything will get into sync.
  5. Consistently losing yet retaining the job? This is Hue Jackson's dream.
  6. Interesting. Didn't realize they had 2 exhibitions already - against who and how did we fare?
  7. This type of game is an exhibition 99.999999999999% of the time. I never thought otherwise. It's being advertised as the first game because it is technically a game of basketball, so it's not really false advertising.
  8. Going from FCS rumors to confirmed South Carolina Gamecocks is a heck of a swing. Let's pirate some booty!
  9. At first I thought it was an obvious out of bounds, but then a different angle showed space in between the foot and white paint. What made it look so close was the shine from the wet turf.
  10. Sideline throws aren't "progressed" to. They are somewhat quick hitters once the receiver hits the top of their route and breaks back. Point and case is the pick six; Ramart instantly went to that guy, staring him down in the process. Typically if a sideline throw is broken, there is not a progression, but rather a throw away over the receiver's head and out of bounds. Now, if he read the defense prior to the snap and saw that the sideline route was going to be the best option, to your point that is on Ramart. However, I would still argue in favor of making it simpler on Ramart, and not putting him through those types of decisions in that situation. My point is it's one of the most difficult throws a QB has to make, and should not have been called - especially as often - as it was tonight once Ramart came in. Instead, they should have stuck with the slants over the middle like they did on the touchdown throw, or screens.
  11. Atrocious play calling - as usual - when Ramart came in. Freshman QB and LONG sideline throws that are easily jumped were consistently called. Disappointing finish after a strong comeback.
  12. AMAZING! TOUCHDOWN! LET'S GO ZIPS!
  13. HOLY CRAP! LET'S GO ZIPS!
  14. Milwee and our DC swapped places for Halloween.
  15. Amazing. Play calls designed for the QB to focus on strictly throwing the ball, work. Great drive.
  16. I'm not surprised NIU is coming out strong. I work near the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn, where our opponents stay. On our afternoon walk, we walked through the hotel to avoid the rain. Overheard a group of their plays talking. Player 1: "Is Bowden still their coach?" Player 2: "Yes." Player 1: "And Milwee is their OC?" Player 3: "Yep." Player 1: "Can you say bowl eligible?" Kidding, but when your offense comes out on the first drive and forgets their man cards in the locker room, it sets the tone for the game, including the defense.
  17. I would love to see Milwee's face after Northern Illinois just successfully picked up a 1st down on 2nd & 9. I'm sure he's shocked there's a play out there that will obtain the yard of gain...
  18. Maybe Milwee is using his play calls to signal to us that he wants to be fired...
  19. What the hell play call was that? 3rd and semi-long, and you read-option to the RB for a short gain? I. Hate. This. Offense.
  20. That's right about where I'd have them ranked pre-season, too. Side note: Nevada is 6th on the list, Clemson 24th, and Marshall 65th. There are also several other teams we could play in the Cayman Islands that are ranked nicely on the list.
  21. When he took over, Bowden's philosophy was... Year One: Lose Big (in hindsight, this should never be part of any coach's philosophy) Year Two: Lose Small Year Three: Win Small Year Four: Win Big We're in year 6, and are both losing big and winning small. So not winning "by the margin some deem worthy" is a very valid reason to complain when the expectations were set by our own HC.
  22. Imagine how good we would be with an actual offense... This defense is fantastic. They have to go away from Kato. I have no idea what the justification is behind playing him over Ramart. On top of that, Milwee does a great job of magnifying Kato's flaws with atrocious play calls, including down-the-sideline throws that require pinpoint accuracy, which Kato doesn't have. Why we don't throw over the middle more is beyond me. I'm with a previous poster - Bowden either gets rid of Milwee, or they go together.
  23. I'd agree with this in most any other case, but my biggest beef is Duquesne showcasing its brand to the recruits in our area, especially when they aren't going to be playing us.
  24. World Series Champions in 1990 after sweeping the A's. Sabo was an ASG starter that year. He played for a couple stinkers, but I wouldn't say the Reds are why he would know what a bad program is.
