  1. Lots of moving pieces still until any of this is solidified. PAC12 is having trouble finding 2 more members to get to the 8 team minimum. I'm not even sure the MW teams that said they'll join are all the way out yet given the 8-team uncertainty and TV contract uncertainty. Of all the G5 conferences, the MW is sitting pretty with their ability to add NDSU, SDSU, Montana, and Montana State. Compare that crop of programs to what the CUSA/American/MAC/Sun Belt have to pick from - advantage MW. Important time for the MAC to be proactive. WKU, Liberty, Delaware, MTSU, Illinois State, etc. Start drumming up interest and planting your flag as a premier G5 conferences, instead of a fringe conference CUSA.
  2. "Football only" Even the Mountain West knows Toledo can't win in March.
  3. According to Ross Dellinger, the collective never agreed to the $100k. In fact, the collective's first contact with the agent was in August. Any alleged promise by the assistant coach was never in writing, nor was anything signed. Whether or not you believe UNLV's claim that the QB asked for more money as they were working on getting him $3k per month, the QB and his agent are Kent-level dumbasses for not having anything signed.
  4. The brighter side is we've correctly verbalized our decision every single time so far to prevent giving the opponent the ball to start both halves.
  5. What's the O/U on timeouts used before the 2nd quarter?
  6. Edit: Read some tweets that are reporting Sluka asked for more money for the mid season and since they aren't giving it to him, he's quitting. That's wrong. Toledo and NIU are kicking themselves even more for losing last week.
  7. Every game you watch from here on out was paid for by the 3 unwatchable football games. Quite frankly, BG had a similar pay day stretch with Texas A&M & Penn State - they barely lost both games. NIU and Toledo each collected big pay days - they both won. Part of why it's unwatchable is our coaching staff doesn't have this program at the level it could be. Not necessarily blaming them for the previous administrative decisions that set this program back so far, but we're also in year 3 and look more FCS than FBS.
  8. The White Sox of college football.
  9. And lost both(?) their QBs.
  10. Tons of passing plays have slant routes built into them, come on now.
  11. BUGS down by 3 to TAMU.
  12. It's not. You have a QB that has happy feet because of the pressure he's facing, and he's being tasked with a 15 yd crossing route instead of a 5 yd crossing route. Watch the best offenses in the country - they use the short crossing routes to get the ball into the hands of their playmakers and let them make plays moving up the field (not sideline to sideline like we LOVE to do).
  13. 3rd and 7, crossing route play call... 15 yds down the field. Why the hell is that not a 5 yd slant going up field where the receiver can catch and either turn up field for more yardage or simply fall forward for 2-3 more yards? I really don't understand Joe Mo's play calling. Saquon Barkley made him look damn good apparently cause his "genius" isn't showing with G5 talent.
  14. No, that's what happens when the down-the-field play call is beyond a short crossing route. Too many intermediate routes for my liking.
  15. Hate the side-to-side play calling.
  16. Nice 3 and out to start the game. Keep. Finley. Upright.
  17. Stanford Steve continues to destroy PCCC on GameDay. This is becoming one of my favorite Saturday traditions.
  18. USA put up 87 pts on a FCS school last week I believe. They have a legit offense.
  19. Our old friend is asking for $100 monthly from 10k fans. The P4s are gonna eat themselves.
  20. So what we're back to is Embick needing to get his ass in gear and rediscover the magic?
  21. What type of resources/funding did Porter have compared to other "elite" programs? (Legitimate question as I do not know)
  22. Akron's brand hasn't severely degraded. They've elevated to the Big East and still possess national notoriety. They are 14 years removed from a National Championship and only 6 years removed from their 3rd National Title Game appearance in 9 seasons (at the time). They had 5 College Cup appearances from 2009-2018. We have one of the nicer soccer facilities in the country and can have some of the best fan support. The Akron brand is fine. The issue is, the further Embick gets away from the Porter era, the worse the program gets. I'm well aware the grass isn't always greener, but I'm seeing a "comfortable" coach and program, not a hungry one. I believe Akron would easily be able to attract a hungry coach that can get this program back to where it needs to be - where we expect it to be.
  23. Not to mention the number of players who run into the end zone and drop the ball. That's as egregious as spinning, punting, throwing, etc., but is never called.
