  1. my brother had been telling me "McRea is the one who has been killing Kënt" and not 10 seconds after the game was over a told-you-so text pops up on my phone. I just wanted this one last game. I wanted to see the Zips in the AP poll.
  2. Ohio wasn't going to get an at-large, and I would NEVER dream of wishing for a Zips loss, but if the MAC is going to be a two bid league this year, the only way it can happen is for Akron to win out and drop the title game to OU. Of course, those guys aren't concerned about the MAC being a 2-bid league, they just want to see their team back in the dance, and you gotta sympathize with that. I would be saying the same thing if I was an OU fan. "Hay, they got us twice, but..."
  3. Most likely to pull off an upset = underrated = most deserving for at-large
  4. probably have to convince investors that everything is in place.
  5. From my perspective, my beagle knows more about akron basketball than said author. Even tho he throws akron a bone, he still worships at the altar of Columbus State. And they have a lot of people who they sell papers to that visit that very same alter who they would like to cater to in order to keep circulation and collect online hits.
  6. I don't understand the knee-jerk resentment about this article. Whether it's right or it's wrong, it's understandable. No one in the country outside of Akron (and perhaps some within Akron) is going to make OSU the underdogs to a MAC team. 19 straight wins and perfection against the MAC doesn't convince anyone that Akron belongs atop the B1G. It just convinces them that the MAC sux or at least that the Zips are better than the MAC. Zips job to represent themselves against champion caliber competition will come. Whether OSU is championship caliber is their own job to prove.
  7. That doesn't mean that everyone recruited by only MAC schools pick Akron. Some guys want to stay close to home. Maybe Kretzer would have gone to OU if they had offered, and maybe he had a point to make last night. Maybe not. Akron is having a great year, and certain connections to certain NBA players may appeal to some recruits, but Akron is not yet the Gonzaga of the east. That's just my view.
  8. What if he didn't? What if, he doesn't want people knowing he didn't? What would they think then? Would his players feel let down if he didn't? Maybe its' better if no one knows
  9. I think that for this game, KD should insist that his players make every effort to never look at the scoreboard or discuss the score. The only score should be execution. What am I doing right now? not... how many points do we need? I know he has gone toward this purpose with his segmented categorical grading system, but I just think that for a team like Buffalo that the Zips should beat, if we are never aware of the score, we will take it to them the entire game, and when it's all over, it shouldn't even be close.
  10. Who was the official zips wilderness outfitter?
  11. Buffalo
  12. I like how the corner sections angle in... so there is less neck craning to watch the game
  13. I agree that creating a mid teir for loges/press box is definitely not ideal for an arena as it pushes upper level up. That concept is fine for ballparks and stadiums. One design concept that I think can be used in arenas is to cantilever the upper deck somewhat overlaping the lower. The last handful of rows of the lower level are actually under the upper level. This is good so long as the lower level seats still have a sight-line to the scoreboard, and it brings the upper level seats a bit closer to the action. It may, however necessitate a steeper slope in the upper level. Also, I suspect it has the drawback of increased construction expense.
  14. I'm starting to see what some people mean when they point out or eternal pessimists.
  15. I was skeptical (even with the losses by a number of teams last week at the bottom of the list) that the Zips would get enough votes to break the AP coaches poll. I was wrong. I am less skeptical about your above prediction though. If the Zips beat OU and Buffalo, I might be surprised if they don't rank in both polls. I'm not even touching the prediction about getting an at-large. jinx unjinx
  16. But this isn't risk analysis. In a risk analysis, you assess all of the potential problems that can happen. The proposed topic simply asks how you will evaluate the reasons for it "not going our way". First of all, that's only one potentiality. Secondly, it's extremely vague; "things not going our way". How are we imagining this playing out? You can't analyse the reasons without even proposing an scenario. IE; losing certain regular season games, or losing certain games in the MAC tourney, or both. So I will re-declare my objection. Let's have this topic after the season is over, when it's over, however it ends. Thanks.
  17. I'm not about censorship, but I wonder if we can't just get a unanimous vote to have this thread removed and we'll just act like it never existed?
  18. It's not just about the positions. It's about the votes. We had only 19. To break the top 25 at least in last weeks poll you needed something like 50. So even if those teams lost votes, their drop and our rise (if any) probably isn't nearly enough.
  19. I wouldn't argue with your points, until you started to show your dellusions and put on the spin. Obviously the zips have a lot riding on this game. A lot of hopes. The streak, the clincher, the big road victory versus the next best challenger , owning the regular season series against a rival, and the environment they will have to play in. However, you give yourself away as a propagandist when you say there is no pressure on OU. They have lots. They can't lose at home. They have to prove they should have won the first game. They have to prove that they shouldn't be in second place. They have to prove that they deserve an at large bid if they lose in cleveland (because they haven't proven it with their record in the shadow of Akron's record), and they don't want have to show well they haven't lost their ability to win big games from last year. I mean, are you trying to convince us of this stuff? Or yourselves?
  20. I loved that slam by Zeke. I say, it was worth the T, specially then Tree dotted the exclamation point afterwards. The only thing I would bring up that might have been in the ref's minds is that maybe Zeke could have pulled up and made a less forcefull and less showboat play. If he would have slowed himself down, yes defenders would have had a chance to catch up and setup, but here is a 7 footer, and should still get the shot. Obviously, I don't personally agree. I don't believe you give up any advantage you have at the moment, but probably thought it was unnecessary. Also MDZip, this is better. I just saw it
  21. Loyalty? It's just one word. Even if you don't like him, he's been there for the Zips, and when they taste a little success, you want throw him to the curb for what you think is an upgrade? If you think to the best local broadcasters, they always have a lot of character, and they have their quirks, and they are usually homers. You want to throw out home town flavor, quirks granted, for some "professional" generic type.
  22. 2 more wins next week. Then...
  23. Does he nod or shake variously to answer your queries? If you don't see any bobble whatsoever, perhaps his movements are so subtle that you are receiving the information subliminally!
