  1. Not a trap game. Not buying it. If Miami's offense puts up that many points, but everyone still beat them (except Umass), then that means everyone's offense rolled over Miami's defense, and so should ours. Not to mention, that our defense could (should?) fare better. 38 zips 24 redfowl
  2. In my opinion, the difference is that in the redzone, the defense has a smaller area to cover and no longer have to leave gaps in the zone and their DBs get pushed up toward the line by default. If you have a dominant O-line, the dbacks will crowd it to protect the run, and still leave gaps behind it even in the red zone. If you don't have a dominant O-line, the only way to keep a defense honest is to beat them with quick slants, outlets, draws, and unfortunately even a few gadgets. Then, the coverage wont be so crowded.
  3. But then the shit could hit the big ass fan!
  4. The Zips have stunk for almost a decade. Spraying a little Glade in the bathroom after a 10-year long dump just doesn't cut it.OMFG! Can we get a courtesy flush
  5. Very cool map. Entire country down to the zip code. Had to be a big project. Hard to knock it knowing how much effort it probably took, but I am also not convinced the source data is accurate. It doesn't seem representative. Why would the Cincy Bearcats not register? Something tells me the sample size is too small.
  6. My new phone records video in HD. Why is this hard?
  7. I think the point about the zips being embarassing on the esteem scale as to why they don't get much coverage is a good one, and explains why you see a headline about them when they get beat by Marshall in the cleveland 'news paper' site, and guess what? Nothing when they win. It's like they revel in supporting the negative perception but pay no attention to the positives.
  8. Was about to complain about taking the lead and putting on soft coverage thereby blowing it, but perhaps I was wrong. Maybe they were hunting the ball. Interception.
  9. LOL yeah, I should have clicked. This is funny.
  10. Didn't click. Figured it was TLDR. But you see this ALL THE FREAKIN TIME when study results are published, particularly online. Usually the so-called journalist is smart enough to imply causation without directly declaring it, but in my opinion, it's worse to be deceptive than to be stupid
  11. This, of course, is not proof either. It's anecdotal. But I selected Akron over other regional choices because I had been on campus when I was in HS visiting people I knew who were already going to UA. It was more than just exposure/familiarity. I knew more about what I was getting when I picked Akron then some of my other options. I know others who did the same. Getting kids on campus for Browns family day or for things that might bring people who otherwise would not have been here sounds like a good concept to me. Now, ruining the soccer pitch? That's a different can of worms.
  12. DAMIT DAMIT DAMIT, johnny zip beat me to it. I already had the image URL ready to paste. Heat miser like a boss
  13. Just one thought. I see people quantifying the detriment of a loss to a high major as a record issue only, but I wonder if it could be more damaging to perception and possibly recruiting to lose by 20+ points to a team that gets national attention. Not saying it has to play out that way, but it's a risk/reward debate. You might pull out the great win against a major, and garner positive attention from that, but what is more likely to happen is a loss. By itself, not a bad thing for arguments stated above, but if the loss is resounding, then people will have the perception cemented that Akron is not a big boy program. For that reason, I tend to agree with the argument that it's high risk versus reward proposal to take only an away game with a high major.
  14. Every once (or several times) in a blue moon, the site will stop responding to http requests. I think this is server side (or host network) but it's hard to say for sure without trying a traceroute. There's no server error, just no response at all, as if the server got unplugged. The requests usually time out. I know when this happens, all other sites I try are fine, so the problem isn't client side. The site is usually back in several minutes
  15. No intent to troll.... just to throw up a different perspective. Just because you want everyone to be fans of this team doesn't make it so. You think something is wrong with them. They probably think conversely. If this team ever got good enough to start beating up on BCS teams, all those people who thought you were a bit off for being a zips fanataic would be sitting right next to you in the stands with a growing nose saying they were here the whole time. Nothing you can do about it.
  16. Spring football would need to be in the majority of media markets for it to gain credibility with casual football fans. A guy in St.Louis is going to scoff at a Spring football league just as hard as a guy in New York would, if the only teams in the 8 team league were Philadelphia, Pheonix, Miami, Portland, Mobile, Traverse City, Parkersburg, and Ogden. heh. The appeal of the NFL is that it's got a history behind teams that people in just about any market can appreciate. You can't build up to that unless you start something that is manageably solvent for many years (which is what I think the point of the Dixon plan), or better yet, you get commitment from investors in many major markets. I would watch spring football. In fact, it would great if their playoffs and championship were occurring right now. It's weeks before the first pre-season game, and yet at lunch ESPN was going solid on NFL topics. I don't want to hear 24/7 NFL junk right now when I have to wait 6 weeks for some action.
  17. agree! If you could get costs down to 1cent per coaster, and you could get volunteers do hand distribute them (saving freight costs), you could have hundreds of these in every bar for a thousand dollars.
  18. "....Renovate JAR by removing all seating. Install permanent chair back sweating with capacity of 4000 with seats closer to flor and at a steeper angle." FTW
  19. Turd? I'd want a scholarship too. Why is that so evil?
  20. Got my fantasy football email this morning with a bunch of QB stat in it. Saw Frye's name in one. Pretty good company. Completion Rate, First Two NFL Seasons (1980 - Present) Elvis Grbac 94-95 162/233 69.5% Ben Roethlisberger 04-05 364/563 64.7% Kurt Warner 98-99 329/510 64.5% Joe Montana 80-81 176/273 64.5% Tom Brady 00-01 265/416 63.7% Russell Wilson 12-13 509/800 63.6% Marc Bulger 02-03 474/746 63.5% Brett Favre 91-92 302/476 63.4% Charlie Frye 05-06 350/556 62.9% Robert Griffin III 12-13 533/850 62.7%
  21. I can put up a site with content publishing system on a dedicated server for a monthly cost less than what they are asking 10 customers to pay. What costs megalith money is the old 'newspaper' model of publishing with a physical location for printing services, offices, clerical expenses, executive and management salaries and professional salaries for journalists. You simply cannot publish the new way with any facet of the old way still in your burden if your revenue is advertising. At all. The difference is enormous. The 'newspaper' will have to die off completely before they can be profitable in the digital market.
  22. Would be great if someone had video of this. I was at the lizard and could watch but it was too loud to hear them talk about him.
