Hoppin' Frog has been getting a bit of noteriety lately for being the World's 17th rank brewery by ratebeer.com I recently consumed a Hoppin'Frog Hopped-Up GooseJuice and then a Hoppin'Frog Oatmeal Imperial Stout, which were vurrrr nice! However it served to raise my mouth's expectations for quality, because I subsequently opened a Sam Adams Cream Stout, and immediately exclaimed "Blech!". Now, I have had Sam Adams' Cream Stout once before and I thought it was rather enjoyable for a Sam Adams. I just have to remember not to have it after Hoppin Frog.

For weeks, and perhaps months, they've been telling themselves that this is all a fluke, and the zips are bound to lose. Yet it doesn't happen and their frustration is starting to boil. Let's put it this way, if the zips weren't undefeated in MAC play, OU would be 10-1 (or perhaps even 11-0 considering their one loss is to Akron) and reveling in roll from last year back on top of the MAC again, claiming the need for national love and attention. They can't quite pull this off properly with Akron stealing the limelight. I say, let's put some milk out for the poor kitty fans. They are teh sads.

Guys, OU fans are pissed. They went into the big show (after squeeeeeeking by Akron in the MAC tourney) and got some wins in the dance. They got drunk on the success. This year, they brought the talent back, and were looking for the party to continue, but someone is stealing their attention, and they don't like it. I, for one, am not surprised by the resentment.

I was thinking the same thing. Would it be nice for Kènt to do our dirty work in the tourney? We have the flush's number, and a against them would make me less anxious. Then again, the Zips handled Ohio somewhat authoritatively at home once. If they do the same in Athens, maybe they aren't the hardest matchup. :o

Couple of people at the bar on Saturday asked the staff if the Akron game was on TV or what the score was. I have never seen that happen before. This was not a bar in Akron

Let's just remember to enjoy the ride. I think we get all caught up in the streak, how it looks, and the record, and what recognition it does or should bring, and we forget to realize how much fun it is to watch winning unfold. No matter what happens, I think its better to focus less on perception and more on our own experience.

Should be interesting to see what happens with St.Mary's and Gonzaga.

Zips black uniforms will be made available

Keep talking like the zips can't get an at-large if they don't keep the streak going and win out. That's very tough. In any given game, a "better" team is upset. Just look at what's been happening to so many ranked teams lately for evidence of that. Personally, I like Akron's chances to play well for two games in the Mac Tourney than to win out seven more additional games. I'm not saying that an at-large is or isn't going to happen if the Zips complile a 27-5 record yet don't take the Mac championship, but I am not holding my breath for 7 more regular season games. If they come out for every game but don't take victories away from all of them, they still just have to win two in Cleveland. I feel good about that.

I can't help thinking back to the speach that they televised Coach giving before the Ohio game. He said to stay even. I think this is what he needs to instill in them in every game. I was looking in the Zip's players faces today. The burden of the streak is making them want to do too much too hard to fast. They have the talent to play even and let the game slow down. I'm not talking about tempo, or execution. I'm talking about mindset. Confidence is trusting your skills. No need to think about streaks or recognition or anything else. Just be even.

Hopefully it turns heads of journalists and creates more interest and stories, but I'm skeptical that the fact gets much notice from readers. The only reason I say that is because the only time I remember hearing about Kansas' winning streak was when it was brought up here in a few discussions about how we would have the longest streak if they lost. I'm quite sure I've seen and heard Kansas' streak mentioned numerous times, but it just didn't register significantly. So I ask, are people really taking note of it? Aren't we suffering from wishful thinking? I'm just saying, interest is good, recognition is good, respect is good, but I'm skeptical that no matter how many wins are racked up and no matter how long the streak gets, and no matter how much press the Zip's get, you still gotta win the MAC tourney to get the bid. :/

Not to diminish Tree, but I feel like Abreu stood out in this victory. I've seen him get raves for getting hot and winning games before, but last night, when the game was on the line, he created a turnover, dropped a trey, took a layup, and penetrated so he could dish a slam. This all seemed to happen so fast I think CMU's heads were spinning.

Who cares how it looks. It's february... early february in fact I'm already tired of the national recognition, respect, and pining for news blurb table scraps. Can we just calm down and see what march brings?

Perhaps he thinks that he is going to be the voice of reason and of reality in a town used to sports let-downs.

Maybe the MAC office got a phone call.

Man... I remember last year, the bracketbusters were fun. Trying to catch the games, and even just watching the match up selection show. I wish they would have put it on ESPN and hyped it up a bit more. I wish the NCAA milked this more for what it's worth. It seems like between the game selections and all the games so closely scheduled that it's like a mini version of march madness.

When I was there, the block parties around Kathryn Place got bigger every year. Still knowing people on campus, after I left, I had heard about it growing to above 100 kegs on Kathryn alone. It was that year or the year after where the wild furniture burning and large police confrontations happened, and Akron legislated it out of existence. This was in the 90s

Those guys aren't journalists. I've heard Galletti on the radio a few times. He can talk his head off. It's entertainment. Perhaps in publishing it is less true than broadcasting, but in the end, you exist to sell ad space and you do that by attracting the most viewers/listeners/readers, and you do THAT by making them want to chose you, and you do not necessarily do THAT by being the best expert.

This is the iconic and predictable reaction whenever anyone feels jilted. Trash the person whose opinion you dislike. I'm not saying that I like these guys, or even that think they are smarter than the average bear. To be honest, I rarely watch/hear them. I am also not saying that staunchly closed and habitual minds are easily changed, but I just feel that the best way to change someone's hearts about your perspective is not to go on the attack.

...and the AK 49ers (on national TV)

*You think the Cleveland media should make the Zip's stories front page articles and news cast lead-ins. *You complain online about buckeye fans in northeast Ohio, but never confront your friends and co-workers who don scarlet & grey gear. *You buy tickets for the MAC tournament finals or for the whole tourney before the preliminary rounds because you just know. *You hate black squirels

Would it be in bad taste for Akron to hold a "fugitive fest" if we win the game? /trollface
