BREAKING NEWS: #23 Has gone with a verbal commitment to Ohio U. When reached for comment, the pint sized punter had this to say "Yeah Can't recruited me pretty hard, offering me cash, strippers and blow, but I have decided to go with Ohio U. I want to be the biggest douchebag possible and lets face it. Can't's football team can't even win that part of the game. O.U. offers me the best oppertunity to look down at people and to learn nothing in school." This is a huge blow for Kents already weak football team. #23 had been penciled in to be the starting running back and outside linebacker. -

with the browns luck, that paper cut would get infected and his whole arm would have to be amputated. meanwhile Joey Porter gets cut in half by an airplane propeller, but some how is sewn back together and is twice as good as before. -
this woman will be on the shirt.

Sounds like old Ben is gonna be one ugly mother now, but this just proves God hates the browns. KW-2 is wearing a helmet and falls off his bike just trying a wheely or something dumb. Boom, knee is gone and he is done for a whole season. Ben isn't wearing a helmet and smacks his head off the windshield of an on coming car and from the sound of it, he will just look like moral of this story, don't wear a helmet, other wise you'll blow out your knee forever. -

typical pittsburgh idiot. Enter the slew of "what a tragedy, I love the steelers. The other driver must have been a browns fan. The QB of the steelers can't make a mistake. thats unpossible" -

For those of you who didn't know / care, The Marlins took Akron's Ross Liesemann in the 18th round of the MLB draft. He was the only Akron player drafted this year. K ent St. had 4 drafted, including Chad Wagler and Joe Tucker, both of which were recruited by Akron when they came out of high school. Good luck to all of them. Represent the MAC well.here is the gozips story on Liersemann.Liersemann Selected By Florida Marlins In MLB Player DraftRoss Liersemann was taken in the 18th round by the Florida MarlinsJune 7, 2006Senior pitcher Ross Liersemann (Mansfield, Ohio/Lexington) was selected by the Florida Marlins in the 18th round of the Major League Baseball Player Draft on Tuesday afternoon.Liersemann became the sixth player taken in the MLB draft from The University of Akron. He is the third-straight pitching prospect taken in the draft, joining Mark Malaska (8th round in 2000) and Aaron Gangi (14th round in 2003), both of whom went to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.Liersemann, who was named MAC Pitcher of the Week three times this season and six times in his career, led the Zips pitching staff with a 3.78 earned run average, six wins, seven complete games and held opponents to a .246 batting average. He was listed on the College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll twice and was also on the watch list for the 2006 Roger Clemens Award. The senior right hander not only led the team in innings pitched, but established two new records in 2006. His 112 innings pitched top the previous single-season record of 95 1/3 innings that Liersemann shared with Tim Dobos. Also, he completed his career at Akron throwing in 334 innings, which surpassed the previous career record of 279 2/3 innings.Liersemann led the team with a career-high 95 strike outs on the season, which ranks as the third-best total in a single season. In 2005, he struck out 81 batters, which currently ranks in a tie for seventh. His career total of 256 strikeouts ranks third all-time, just two behind Tim Dobos for second.Liersemann was the 545th overall pick in what was the final round of day one. Five other Mid-American Conference players were taken on the first day of the draft, including Emmanuel Burris (Can't State), Matt Long (Miami), Keith Weiser (Miami), Brad Snyder (Ball State) and Brad Miller (Ball State).

Probably because at any moment a 500 pound woman eating a 9 dollar hotdog might come crashing through the ceiling of the visitors locker room. THAT is the Akron Advantage. Forget "Fear the Roo", Fear the poor construction and fat people standing on it.

An assistant coach may be moving on

I don't think you'll have to worry about Dambrot. Akron is his dream job. -

The Indians offered him something like 5 years 60+ million. He has said time and time again that he wanted to stay an Indian, but didn't want to burden them with his contract, knowing that if the Indians sign him he would be surrounded by players making 5.75 an hour. The guy practically cried durring his press conference in Philly, talking about how he wanted to retire an Indian. When JD walks, and he will. if not after this year, then next, Akron will replace him with some bargin bin coach, sending the team back into the stone age. -

Well saidAll this kind of reminds me of when Jim Thome was becoming a free agent. The Indians had every chance in the world to wrap up a deal before any other team could get a shot at him, but instead of doing anything they just kind of sat there. Its like they knew the fans wanted Jim, but the Indians didn't want to pay him anything, so if they wait until its too late they could just say "Oh we tried to resign him, but the Phillies just offered him too much. Don't blame us, he is the bad guy."I can already hear Mack's answer to the question "Why didn't you sign JD earlier?""Well we tried to sign him, but a BCS school just offered him too much money. Don't blame the athletic department, JD is the one who bolted for more cash." -
Thats a good one. It is. People taking tough on the internet. great stuff indeed.

Oh boy, here comes the P.C. police. I better grab my bible and start up a study session.

you get your facts right. I have been to both Softball and Soccer games. It is obvious that those coaches didn't give a shit about Akron anymore. Screw em, and screw you. I know some of the players, and not everyone LOVED her. Wright will be better off in Wisconson, though I don't know how them farm people take to girls who like girls. Your post reads like a chick wrote it. I'm sure you had an encounter or two.

Can't lost to Ball State in the MAC baseball championship game, 7-4. This is Ball State's first ever baseball MAC championship. I'm sure their message boards are flooded with people calling for Ball State to leave the MAC and join the National League West.Hopefully Akron will be looking at its second MAC baseball title come this time next year.

She was a bitch. From what I hear, just about everyone is glad she is gone. Head coach at a D1 school. She keeps winning at Akron, she'll get the bigger job, which is obviously the only reason she was here. At least Ken Lolla took another head coaching job. What a dumb _ _ _ _. Screw her. Akron will only be better with out her "me first" bitch attitude.

B/c someone brought it up- Akron 2 the Big East
Balki Bartokomous replied to Ryno aka Menace's topic in Akron Zips Football
1. We are not saying lets move right now, what we are saying what needs to happen to prepare us for "when" the Big East either breaks up or adds universities. - Like winning more MAC championships.2. We are talking about what we need to do to be a favorable choice. - Someone brought up a great point about media market and facilities.3. We are talking about when we "do" continue to have success and the opportunity is there "should we take it"I have alumni friends that feel they never want to go to the Big East no matter how well we do cause it is a conference that isn't much better than the MAC football wise (aside for WVU). Some see it as a minor step up with schools like Rutgers, UConn, and Syracuse. Some people would rather see us go to CUSA. I don't agree, personally feel that Conference USA isn't a step up at all. So what do you feel? Build up the conference we are in or move on? That is the question. I know...I know....lets not worry about moving lets worry about winning more MAC championships but last time I checked it was ok to set long term goals. So far I have heard GREAT comments, like media market, budget expense, travel demographics, being a single sport or all sport member. etc. This board is full of intelligent people, I just thought with all this intelligence there would be more optimistic views.Balki you may not wanna leave the MAC and that is fine, but do you wanna stay in the MAC if Toledo, Miami of Ohio, and BG leave? I never said I wanted the Zips to stay in the MAC forever. But for god's sake. We had ONE good (and very lucky) year. Hell, we aren't even the favorite to win the MAC again this year and we really didn't lose much to graduation. I'm sure every team in college would love to move up. If USC got the chance, im sure they would join the WNBA. But we should be focusing on trying to repeat as MAC champs. I'm sure the last thing going through JD's head is "Hmm, why should I worry about the MAC? The Big East/Conference USA/Mark May's basement is a much more respectable place to be."Our long term goals should be to build a winning program that consistantly wins the MAC. Worrying about something that we have no control over is stupid. We have control over the MAC, not the B.E. asking us to join. Play ball to win here, and what ever happens because of it happens. -

this is a new point? give me a break. people on here have been bitching about JD and KD not getting a raise since they won their first game at Akron. Go back through the threads.

Everytime I see a thread like this, I want to slam my head against a wall. Christ, lets worry about the MAC. Wait until we don't have to get as lucky as all hell to win it before you start going off on "well, heck, we had one winning season, lets move to the Big East" -
