  1. Ak*ron Foot*ball (ak’run foooot’bull), n. the sad state of mind following a loss to an organization one should have been victorious over. This loss was preceded the week before by a “good showing” (loss) against a superior opponent. There is no known permanent remedy, but it is well known that if one is seen to urinate on one’s own shoe in the Rubber Bowl kibo, it indicates an attempt is being made to mitigate the coming Ak*ron Foot*ball state of mind by temporarily inducing a game day alcoholic stuper.
  2. E Mgrs are clear by me..............film crew too, along with concession stand folks.
  3. Shame on that entire team for what happened last night. GP................no argument, but does that include the coaches or are they in the stands with the fans?
  4. Rushing stix...............Jarvis and Ringer sitting there just make me want to go......................damn!BTW, nice job on the board Dan.
  5. The Band..............the best part of the game thru 3/4's last Saturday
  6. What skippy said.............Please don't let this thread degenerate into another HATE/LOVE torching of Superman.Please..............
  7. u boyz r men..............do you have jobs?
  8. Be the first kid on your block........Just bought mine but I had to get white.........that's fine, I want it in time to wear it to the first home game (UA) and down to the stadium (if I ever get the hell out of Asia :-) )BTW......do we have any home games this season???
  9. I never wear jerseys and don't own one (I'm an old man) but guess what? I'll be the guy in the Seahsawks jersey #5 at the next home game.BTW, where can I get a "26" tee shirt?
  10. Here's my take from Shanghai...........Superman's schtick was the scramble. He reads broken plays better than preset calls or LOS reads. In this system he never really had the chance to show this ability. When he did early in his tenure, he had some success.Any scrambling QB needs a blocking back who has been around him long enough to know where his tendencies are going to take him when he's on the run. The last blocking back he had on his hip for more than a season was you know who, and he did one hell of a job for 3 years. The most he saw our of an RB in Browns stadium was about 6 weeks.I think a comment recently made by the guy you cats all hate on...............LO.....is basically correct.............he's worked under new and fresh OC's for at least the past 4 campaigns...............how'd you like to have a new boss every Christmas?I'm not saying he's a big time trigger..........in fact, I'm not really convinced he's an NFL starter (I hate agreeing with that ahole GP :-) )..............but the poor kid has not really been in a good situation downtown.Ask Doc what I said when he was drafted.................I frikin hate to be right when it involves a young man I respect.Good luck C...............and pick up the number 5 again please.nm............
  11. OSU..................nm
  12. GP, you're an ahole, but you made me laugh, so you get a pass this time.Have a good day.Your buddy, ZP
  13. What CK just said. You newbies have no idea how stong this board has become. You (we) are the envie of the Penguin fans, the dirty bird fan, and others I am sure.............only OU has anything nearly as active (as far as I have learned in 8 years).CK............what are you guys going to do with the bd?
  14. UA 35West Point 10
  15. C'mon guys..............How can you rate the 07 team against anything until you see it on the field.Shifino was injured before the season started btw
  16. Our schedule (home) is an embarrassment this year...............it's hard to believe any professional AD could let something like this happen to his lead sport. Spin it any way you want, but but this is a 4 home game year, on a 12 game schedule. Poor players, I feel for them........JD too. NM
  17. Really..............what they both just said.nm
  18. Good one GP!The Lasorda call was great...........and you are right.Ever notice how the trow on mgrs are always just below the knee? They don't buy into the shoe high look.............I vote coat and tie (but then you already know I'm a dinosour and like the Landry look, except for the Fedora)
  19. I know, this is the Zip's board................but it's frikin slow, and I thought you guys might want to see how NIU is pimping it's Soldier Field Showdown, the equivilent to our Army venue...............http://www.myniu.com/alumni/niufootball_sept012007.shtmlCy and paste.............
  20. CK, you surely knew this would pull me in for a comment. Lots of memories from that game.........."the pic", the way we gave up throwing and "ate the ball" in the 4th, the "return of the king" as he came in thru the open end of the horseshoe to uproar from their sideline and fans (they probably had 8,000 by themselves in attendance)..............the game saved Lee's job for another year, etc.But the most significant memory was after the game...........we were standing on the rug (on the field) watching Superman get interviewed for radio in the stands, when from our left, Bobby Pruett walks by. Without sneering, I said something like "great game coach Pruett, sorry about Byron's injury" or something like that...............and he stopped, turned around and said "that was a GREAT GAME" "take nothing away from that Akron Team, they were ready to beat us tonight"...........that's a moment I will never forget, and made me a Pruett fan (I know, you guys are now going to kill me) for the rest of my life. BTW, I know I posted this before, so sorry to repeat if you've seen it.
  21. Whoa! Were you at Howard? That was the Battle of the Bands game. Man oh man, the show was awsome. Just remembering the way the Howard Band entered the stadium gives me goose bumps! Not to pimp UAM, but he took lemons and made lemonade...........something lacking around here lately.
  22. CK.............At least they've got 7 SATURDAY home games..............that's more than we've had in the past 2 seasons.
  23. Hey.............can I stick my nose in here?I'm as big a Superman fan as you'll find on the board......................but................(choke, gasp) I reeeeeeeeally liked what I saw in Anderson when he started last season.IMHO, he was quicker to get rid of the ball, threw harder and more accurately, and was even appeared "smarter" than my guy by the time he (Anderson) started. Mrs. ZP got pissed at me when I tried to point these things out, so I learned to keep my opinion on that competition to myself. That said, Charley has always been known as a "Classic Gamer"..........he's not been much of a practice player. By now Phil and RAC know that, and are gaming on it somewhat.I say let C start the season..............see if the small hands can get the ball downfield, and if not, bring in Anderson................keep the "Great White Hype" on the sideline for the season so all us PSL owners don't return them for a refund in Jan 08.
  24. I agree with CK...............I think the Stadium game, along with the date and all that is going on around it will carry us to 30K.............it's going to be a nice weekend (unless we crap out against them like last time)
