  1. Good, appropriately critical and insightful article by Marla Ridenour: ABJ/Marla Ridenour: UA's anemic offense must improve next season for Zips program to regain prominence
  2. Just to jog everyone's memories, some of the members of the Zips' team during Dambrot's 1st season as head coach were: Romeo Travis Dru Joyce Jeremiah Wood Darryl Peterson Cedric Middleton Some of the other contributors were: Matt Futch Rob Preston Quade Milum No, that Zips team wouldn't have hung with this year"s Buffalo team. But let's not kid ourselves. It was pretty stacked. By contrast, Groce inherited: Jimmond Ivey Daniel Utomi An iPhone With which to scramble to piece together a team - not just late in the recruiting cycle, but after the 2nd signing day!
  3. I'll just toss out that this was only year two of an almost total rebuild. Groce inherited two players. Two. TWO! (E-man doesn't count. In fact, E-man counts as a -1.) If Coach Sabo has our baseball team in the MAC quarterfinals in year two I'd call it unexpected and quite a success. Frenchy has said he thinks this year's Buffalo squad is the best team he's ever seen in the MAC. The other team he throws out there is the Elite Eight Kent State team. So they kicked our butts today. Good for them. We're in Year Two of Operation: Build From Scratch. They played to their potential & really locked down on D. Hats off to them.
  4. Who can walk and chew gum at the same time.
  5. Yeah. I don’t know the guy and I know a lot of the young people like him. But I just hope the door doesn’t hit him in the ass.
  6. Is this game on CBSSports Network?
  7. ABJ: Coach Tom Arth prefers direct approach with quarterbacks Article mentions QB's Kato & Robbie Kelley, and Coach Arth even mentions T.J. Deshields (in the accompanying video), but, surprisingly, no mention of Alex Ramart.
  8. I spy Alvin Davis at corner as opposed to S, and DeAndre Brimage at DE as opposed to DT. I'm missing one.
  9. I wish Riak would play like he has a pair.
  10. It definitely wasn’t sold out.
  11. Yeah, that's interesting. Corner was a 1st Team D-1 All-Ohio LB in high school, but the plan was to convert him to safety. That's an awfully small LB. If we'd play Corner, DiLauro & Bubba at the same time we'd have the smallest LB crew in the nation: Corner: 5-9, 195 DiLauro: 5-10, 215 Bubba: 5-9, 220 Great high school LB's, but...
  12. Is that our conundrum? I should look more closely at the bracket. If that's the case then, yeah, bring on OU. I caught that as well. Reghi hinted at that due to Demajeo Wiggins' lack of PT. But Riak really does an excellent job shutting Demajeo down. During the game in BUGS I remember thinking I'd never seen Demajeo play so poorly - due to Riak's D. Then Tuesday night Demajeo couldn't do anything. So Idk if BUGS was tanking the game or not, but I do know Riak seems to have Wiggins' number on the defensive end of the floor.
  13. That’s what I was thinking. He’s got them clicking right now. I hope we don’t have to face them Monday night.
  14. I was in the camp who thought it was a bad call. Especially at that point in the game. That CCC team was awfully good. STVM was ranked #3 in the country and had beaten CCC twice already that season (IIRC) when CCC knocked them out of the state tourney in the Elite Eight. It was STVM's only loss that year (Josh Williams' senior season).
  15. This is where I am with the two of them. Of course I want them to succeed, for both themselves and the team. But for being loyal to UA they can do no wrong in my eyes.
  16. ABJ: Zips deliver a blow to Bowling Green with decisive 91-67 victory E-man had 6 blocks
  17. I watched the replay on ESPN+ after getting home last night. Like 1981Grad stated, what a great way for Jimmond to end Senior Night, with a breakaway dunk & a 3-pointer. It sounded like the JAR responded appropriately. I was shouting in my living room at midnight! I'm going to miss Jimmond.
  18. ABJ: Zips still feel Bobcats' bite, but must move on
  19. I can't be there, so everyone please give Ivey a great ovation. The last part of the season's been rough, but I hope everyone cheers this team on. It's so easy to soon forget that KD left this program in a heap of ashes. Groce has almost had an identical job as Zips' baseball coach, Chris Sabo, i.e., starting from scratch. Ivey stuck around and is a Zip for life! Thank you Jimmond!!!
  20. ABJ: Ohio throttles Zips from start to finish in 73-49 blowout
  21. Idk. I do know prospects & coaches are supposed to let the team know in advance if they'd like to attend.
