Zips rally behind Kwan Cheatham to drop Rockets It’s safe to say that the slump that hit Cheatham for a three-game stretch is over. He lifted the Zips high enough on his shoulders to give them an opportunity to win. At one point, the Rockets (13-13, 6-7 in MAC) were beating the Zips in every significant offensive category to take an 11-point lead midway through the second half. Then Cheatham went to work...

City passes $966 million in 2017 spending plans Akron City Council wrapped up a month of budget deliberations Monday by passing a $375 million operating budget and nearly $590 million in capital projects for 2017. The city is spending $590 million in capital projects this year alone and can't afford to build a downtown arena?

This is what frustrates me. The staff just needs to get on the phone w/ every middling P5 school in the country & say we'll come play you at your house, no strings attached.

Not to hijack the Jerome Lane thread, but this explains a lot about Pittman's lackluster year: Pittman is still waiting. This past season was supposed to be his for the taking. But a deep bruise in his heel forced him to play hurt most of the season. He was limited and not as explosive from his defensive end position...

What do you think about this Buffalo fan?

I didn't read the article, but one would expect a blogger from Buffalo to be strongly biased toward UB just as we're strongly biased toward UA. No biggie. I'm for anything that stokes the rivalry. -

Does anyone know if we're recruiting 2018 Solon PG Sincere Carry? He's been tearing it up for a couple years now & just this past weekend dropped 38 on St. Ignatius. Next year (Sin's senior year in high school) we're going to have 2 senior PG's, but after that we're going to need one. Don't yet know if TDM will make a viable starting PG at this level. I love TDM's potential & moxie, but he's awfully undersized.

If this is true I think it's a great idea to give season tickets holders a little perk. Because of my schedule I did not buy season tickets this year & thought they had raised the GA price by $5 this year. Without a season ticket they cost me $15 per. I would have saved $$ if I had just bought a season ticket & simply didn't use them half the time. P.s. Just an FYI, I get GA tickets so I wouldn't be responsible for a disgusting, empty blue seat in the lower bowl!

It's taken them this long to figure that one out?

Where do you see they're discounting the K.ent tickets? Are you referring to the 3-game ticket package?

Every team worries me in Cleveland. Actually, the team that worries me the most is us. If we play like we played in Athens any team in the league can beat us. If we play our game, no team in the league can beat us. Most of all, 6'10, 320-pound Dog playing 3 games in 3 days worries me. Before this weekend my top 3 concerns were 1. Buffalo 2. EMU 3. CMU But given their recent struggles, I'm going to knock EMU & CMU off the list & say only one team truly worries me: Buffalo. If we play our best and they play their best, it's going to be a good game and could go either way. OU may be a distant 2nd now, but only because the league has so much parity behind us. And again, it's a d...i...s...t...a...n...t second to UB. Again, if we play like we did in Athens, we'd lose in the first round of the MACT... and deservedly so.

I doubt anyone would say they attend a basketball game for the band, but they are definitely a piece of the puzzle in a cumulative effect. -
I noticed Kwan getting his rhythm back seemed to directly impact Noah's confidence as well. I wish it had the same effect on Josh.

Akron Beacon Journal: We could hardly care any less about the Zips so just bought a few paragraphs from an AP writer... though the game was only three hours away.

We're a little bit better than every team in the MAC. Our record will once again look great. Fool's gold.
