  1. Okay, yeah, the title's kinda cheesy, but this is a really good pregame article from GT GT discusses the UA-WMU rivalry, the youth of the Bronco's roster, the buzz beginning to be heard in the community concerning the winning streak (wish we didn't have to have the pressure of never losing to create interest), and the Zips' free-throw abomination -vs- EMU. Great article!
  2. Here's a great article from the Beacon!  Interesting, well-written human interest piece full of information I didn't already know!  Needless to say I was shocked.
  3. Good! Akron -v- Toledo should be an annual affair.
  4. Darn it, Fleck! He didn't do this when he was at WMU, did he?
  5. IIRC, we remained in the "Others Receiving Votes" category until the season was almost over. When we finally did crack the Top 25 (anyone remember what we were ranked? #24?) we promptly lost a road game at Buffalo. What was our winning streak that year? 19?
  6. This is why I thought we'd pick up a vote or two this week.
  7. This is great news to hear about Nate, as none of us on this board knew he was even on the Zips' radar. That's insane that he was District Defensive POY and an All-State WR in the same year. I've never heard of a situation like that before! And, btw, do you have any information on the status of Freddie Simmons?
  8. Personally, I would be shocked if Woodson wasn't viewed by all as the firmly entrenched incumbent. And he should be; he's earned that. But I do hope Woodson feels pushed. Competition is good for everyone (my belief in the free market system rears it's head). I'm very happy (relieved, actually) at the depth of talent at the QB position for the upcoming year, and beyond. Lack of depth at the QB position utterly derailed our season this past year.
  9. Oh, my. I thought this was a brilliant bit of jokery poking fun at our basketball schedule. It's no joke. (I figured 94zipgrad was having some fun w/ photoshop.) Edit: Oh well, easy win. Just win (six), baby!
  10. Joe Akron, you son of a b*tch.
  11. This is going to be our toughest in-conference road test yet.
  12. I agree. Seems like there's no way we have this many schollie's to give out, actually. Some of them have to be PWO, I suppose.
  13. 1-on-1 with Western DE Matt Hanson
  14. Should be a very interesting, competitive camp!
  15. Jeffrey Lubin visited Iowa State last weekend and seemed to really enjoy his visit. He visits with us this weekend. Signing Jeffrey would instantly get me over the insult of being spurred by DeAmonte King. Jeffrey's highlights (I know) look better than anything I ever saw out of DeAmonte. And I saw DeAmonte play, oh... I'd say at least five times. (I'm not sure how much/hard the Zips actually pursued DeAmonte - possibly because we're focussed on Jeffrey.) Go Zips! (Go Otis!)
  16. Former St. V-M, University of Akron star Dru Joyce having his best season overseas
  17. I was listening to ZipsLive last week & KD was interviewed. He again mentioned the renovation of the JAR & said he'd, naturally, like to get that done asap. He also mentioned the "new arena." In his mind the renovation of the JAR & a brand new arena are two distinct projects. He's obviously viewing the renovation of the JAR as a stop gap.
  18. And this.
  19. Maybe they were just out of the frame?
  20. I'm impressed they sold out against UT. I do have to wonder if those numbers were inflated. Typically the only game Kant sells out is the game against us. I din't even know they were thinking of renovating the MAC Center. That'll be 2 renovations for the MAC center before we pull off one for the JAR. As they stand now, I'd rather watch a game in the JAR as opposed to the MAC Center. That's how gawd awful the MAC Center is presently.
  21. I was listening to ZipsLive last week and KD once again mentioned the JAR renovation. He also mentioned "the arena." He sees these as two different projects. Obviously looking at the JAR renovation as a stop gap.
