Rather disheartening that we couldn't land either of these Firestone OL. Especially considering we've already got Tommy Brown & Cody Grice to help recruit. Well, if he was offered by Seton Hall & Yale, I doubt he's an academic NQ. Lol. Still don't know what's taking him so long to make a decision.

I was looking into him just last week. He's been having a great senior season, but as far as I could gather he's still undecided. Idk, but he may be an academic non-qualifier. That's the only reason I could figure why he hasn't made a decision on college yet.

Did anyone else notice this? Five years ago there were two great power forwards playing ball in Akron - Darius Carter at Firestone & Larry Nance Jr. @ Revere. The Zips passed on both in favor of Nick Harney & Demetrius Treadwell (not dissing on Tree; he's one of my favorite all-time Zips). For what should be their senior years, Nick Harney's playing D-II & Tree's playing in Argentina while Larry Nance Jr. is the leader of recent AP Top 25-ranked Wyoming (18-4) and Darius Carter is a leader for AP#12 Wichita State (19-3). Imagine both those homeboys wearing blue & gold. Ouch.

I like our games against Penn State. If it were up to me we'd travel to Happy Valley every year. They're a quite-beatable marquee B1G team. But I'd also strongly encourage Dambrot to travel to one more marquee B1G school per year - Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana. I think we need to show people we're on a comparable level with those schools. Honestly, when I take people to Zips games, many of them don't even realize we're in the same division as the B1G.

3,500-ish in attendance is pretty good, IMHO, considering we have none of the following: comfortable arena - no good concessions - no decent team shop - no halftime entertainment - no interesting opponents - no There is nothing to convey an important, special, "big time" atmosphere. The only draw, and this will sound odd, is the basketball. The 3,500 are Zips diehards. I think attendance will improve against K.e.n.t., Toledo & Ohio. But other than those three opponents, you've really gotta be a true diehard Zips fan who bleeds blue & gold to want to come to the JAR for a game.

How about GoZips.com not yet having a picture of Tommy Brown. Who works in UA athletics & what do they do all day? After suffering through so many years of systemic incompetence little things are beginning to annoy me.

Thinking out loud: Require Dambrot to play two money games a year. Go into the lion's den & play two B1G big boys on their home courts. Not Northwestern. I'm talking teams that resonate more with Joe Akron - Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Ohio State. (I like the Penn State matchup.) Use the additional income to offset the financial loss of making the blue seats behind the visiting bench the student section.

Kwan's 3-shot has been off and he's been getting stripped of the ball by smaller guards when driving to the hoop. He's just in a rough stretch right now.
