  1. Chapman only played one series in last year's Spring Game, but besides him displaying a nice arm, what I vividly remember is how explosive a runner he his. The pocket was collapsing and he took off and left the pursuing DE so far behind it looked like the DE was running in sand. It really almost dropped my jaw.
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vVq6nR7l0I Another brief video.
  3. +1. Loved having him in the MAC. Made the Buffalo games a lot of fun. Hopefully they can remain competitive.
  4. What's up with the Texas connection?
  5. I liked BJ and I think he has a potentially high ceiling, but to say he was underwhelming last year would be putting it mildly. KD did everything he could to give BJ confidence last season, including moving him into the starting lineup for a bit. But, BJ never could get it jumpstarted. Honestly, I'm kinda glad we've now got that scholarship freed up.
  6. I watched the replay on ESPN3. The team they played (Montverde Academy, IIRC) had the #1 ranked PF in the nation, who also happens the be the #1-ranked prospect in the nation regardless of position. They also had two other Power-5 Conference recruited players, I believe all of whom were ranked in the ESPN Top 150. In the first quarter, Peter Agba looked like the best player on the floor. He scored 6 points while Montverde was still having trouble finding any rhythm on offense. In the 2nd quarter Greensboro Academy only scored 2 points. One basket, again by Peter. I fell asleep at halftime, but Peter ended the game with 12 points, so he only scored 4 in the 2nd half. Monteverde obviously made some halftime adjustment to focus on stopping Agba. Before watching I knew that Peter only scored 12 points, so I was kinda surprised at how good he looked scoring 6 in the 1st quarter. He's going to be a good one. He was really the only player Greensboro had who could hang with Montverde's size & athleticism.
  7. Ha ha, I know KD & the Zips love the 3-ball. Lillard's got a consistent & smooth stroke from, I'd say, 3 feet behind the high school arc. If defenders didn't come out on him he'd not hesitate to stroke it. His release isn't as quick as LePear Toles', but Lillard has a nasty jab step that gets defenders on their heals (since he loves to drive the ball to the rim) & opens up space for his jumper. IMHO, LePear Toles is more of a pure shooter. I don't know how Lillard's game will translate on the next level when he's consistently going to have to deal with a 6-8ish PF and a 6-10ish C inside protecting the rim. But he is a natural slasher who set the tone for the game against STVM by hitting two 3-balls & a layup in the first quarter.
  8. Umm, anyway, I hope KD can somehow find a spot for Lillard. Next year we've already offered a few 2-guards including LePear Toles of Timken High School & Mitch Peterson from Walsh Jesuit. I've seen all three play & I'm a bit more impressed with Lillard than Peterson, or even Toles. Though I must confess I think Toles is a really good 2. I'd be amped if he would give KD a verbal commitment.
  9. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/03/ohio-state-championship-controversial-call-cleveland-central-catholic-antwon-lillard USA Today article on the dunk.
  10. http://gozips.com/sports/bsb/2014-15/releases/20150329wzpsqj Baseball lost to UT on Saturday but swept the double-header yesterday to take the series with the Rockets.
  11. http://www.ohio.com/sports/high-school/jackson-senior-tyler-dunn-commits-to-play-basketball-at-the-university-of-akron-1.578995 Nice article on Tyler Dunn.
  12. I've seen him play a few times and I think he's under-valued. (Even though he was 1st-Team All-Ohio D-2 & Northeast Lakes Region POY.) Apparently he does have offers from Cleveland State Manhattan Arkansas State Saint Peters and, uh oh... K.e.n.t State I'd hate to see him in Flashes pee-yellow & blue for the next four years.
  13. I know we don't have any available scholarships remaining this year, but does anyone know if we're, none-the-less looking at Cleveland Central Catholic's Antwon Lillard? He's a great player who's really come into his own this year. Was thinking maybe he could greyshirt (or whatever) and pick up one of the available schollies next year, ala, Jimmond Ivey.
  14. Okay, I'm just gonna check out now.
  15. Is the guy playing football, or just running track?
  16. "We are UA Athletics! Lower your expectations and curb your enthusiasm."
  17. Ahh, you're right. Brain freeze. I was watching Stow graduate David Walker & Northeastern play Notre Dame. Thanks for the catch!
  18. That's Darryl Monroe, right? That's why I posted I was surprised he's listed at WILL linebacker & not MIKE. Dude's huge; seems more like a MIKE.
  19. Oops, you're right.^^
  20. I'm also surprised that big Darryl Monroe (6-1, 235) is listed at WILL linebacker. I figured he'd be MIKE, along with Williams.
  21. Just noticed that Newman Williams is also listed as #2 at MIKE linebacker behind John Rachel. If that's the case I'm no longer disappointed seeing him listed as #2 TE.
  22. Where do you find a 2-deep spring roster?
  23. Joe Dunn's son, Tyler, a pretty tough, "blue-collar" PG from Jackson, will walk-on at UA instead of taking a scholarship offer from Walsh. Welcome, Tyler! Hope you have fun & represent the Zips as well as your father does! http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/tyler-dunn
  24. Notre Dame handled Witchita State rather easily last night. The Fighting Irish are in the Elite Eight, their only close call being a narrow first-round win against Buffalo.
  25. I'm not thrilled about Newman Williams at TE. He was a pretty dominant inside linebacker.
