Wow, that's too bad. He's way too young for that; he's going to have pain the rest of his life. And I was looking forward to seeing he and Big Dog go at it on the court. Best of luck to him. Life is fortunately a whole lot more than basketball.

@ Staton14 - I saw the picture on Facebook. @ akzipper - Right, it looks just like that ^^^. Only with a "Z" on the side & a dark blue metallic face mask.

^^ Well that didn't work. I tried to post a picture of the new helmets. They're chrome-gold w/ a larger Z logo on the side. No white; all gold & navy blue (or black; I can't tell by the picture). Has anyone heard whether Pittman will be DT or DE? Lavonne Gauthney won't be with the team till the fall, but he'll almost certainly be on the 2-deep @ DT. If Pittman is DT, then we've got 4-deep @ DT: Grice, Hollis, Pittman, Gauthney.

I agree concerning this year's St.V/M team. I watched the Ohio D-2 state championship game and was very underwhelmed by the athleticism displayed by both teams. There's no way St.V/M should have lost to Columbus Bishop Waterson. Though they did last year too. It seems that he was pretty adamant about Jarel Woolridge running the point, which is Josh William's best position. Maybe next year Josh will show more when he runs the point full time? Not that Joshua had a bad year. In fact, in the state semi-final game, Josh had St.V's 1st 3 points & 2 assists, but then got into a bit of foul trouble & didn't play much in the 2nd quarter, when Waterson pulled away to a big lead.

I was listening to the St.V/M -vs- Mickinley game on WHLO 1480. WHLO's play-by-play man, Sam Burquin (sp?), commented, "This Josh Williams is the Josh Williams we saw play for Barberton last year. He looks just FANTASTIC."

Well, since we're all a bit depressed over the basketball team, I'll be happy to relay the news that we've got new football uniforms coming for next season. Keontae Hollis posted this status update on facebook: "OMG WAIT TILL YOU GUYS SEE THE NEW AKRON UNIS!!!!!" I asked when we'll get to see them. He replied, "First game of the season. They may leak out beforehand..."

Thank you for the correction. My bad. Size-wise, i didn't walk beside them, but saw them on the floor from my bleacher seats. Cristen Wilson looked like a wing, perhaps 1-2 inches shorter than ideal. Jimond appeared to have good size for a 2-guard, great size if he'd play the 1. Not only would I believe he's a legit 6'4", but he's "long"; just an ideal basketball frame.

Saw both Jimond Ivey & Cristen Taylor @ the game last night. They saw a great crowd given few opportunities to make noise.

Last year when Lane & Moore signed, Bowden was asked whether they'd play LB or DE, as both are around 6'-3"or4" & 210-220 lbs.. Bowden was rather set on keeping them both at LB. However, it'll be interesting to see what weight these guys come in at after a year of lifting. Both could be quality DE's.

I used to think it had a something to do with the Big Ten school feeling like they were on vacation during the Rose Bowl whereas the PAC-10 school was carrying on business as usual. Thoughts?
