  1. Again, why not just use the Info? UA concessions would get to keep all concessions $$$, or something along those lines? I just don't understand. We've literally one of the nicest football stadiums in the country adjacent to downtown bars & restaurants, but they would rather play in the Rubber Bowl?
  2. Ironically, we've actually had some trouble with NIU in the recent past. In fact, I remember a few years ago, a terrible NIU team broke a Zips' JAR winning streak which was almost ready to go on two years running.
  3. Edited, updated & bumped. Btw, I thought we only had between 13-15 schollies available? This list presently stands @ 19. 20 if we add Tommy Brown.
  4. FINALLY, There's an and-one!
  5. Harney gets the start. I think I like that - I like Chauncey coming off the bench, taking over Q's role from last year. Like Q was last year, I think Chauncey is our best all-around player.
  6. Thanks for the tip. How's his knee rehab going?
  7. Present educated scuttlebutt: LB Dontae Moore, Kenmore HS, Akron, OH ATH Jerome Lane, Firestone HS, Akron, OH S Logan Cox, Parkersburg South HS, Parkersburg, WV QB Tommy Woodson, Gateway HS, Monroeville, PA TB Anthony Lauro, Manatee HS, Brandenton, FL C Stephen Ericksen, Carrollton HS, Carrollton, OH OT Ryan Kortokrax, Wayne Trace HS, Haviland, OH TE Michael Kish, Brentwood SHS, Pittsburgh, PA S Zach Guiser, Greensburg Central Catholic HS, Greensburg, PA OG Dominick Hamilton, Cass Technical HS, Detroit, MI DT Tyler Vaughn, Union Grove HS, McDonough, GA RB David Gaydosz, Winfield HS, Winfield, WV WR Deandre Adams, Hallandale HS, Hallandale Beach, FL DT Keontae Hollis, 6'2"/293, Iowa Central C.C. DT LaVonne Gauthney, 6'1"/292, Hargrave Military Academy RB Manny Morgan, 5'8"/180, Naples HS, Naples, FL WR Austin Wolf, 6'4"/205, Lebanon HS, Lebanon, OH OG Cedric Brittnum, 6'5"/315, ASA College CB Donte Williams, 5'11"/175, ASA College OL Tommy Brown? (good question, 33Akrondad7)
  8. Oooh, I'm jealous! I hope they follow through, as the end of the tweet mentions, and offer some for sale.
  9. This is blowing up. Unlike the NIU-EMU fiasco, this has been great for the MAC. With so many people likely to tune in, I hope it's an entertaining, well played game. Go Zips!
  10. Good analysis. Nobody, of course, wants a slow running back, as "speed kills." But, IMHO, the straight 40 time is one of the most overrated statistics. Really, in game situations, unless you're a WR running an occasional streak, nobody ever runs 40 yards in a straight line. (Please, unless you sincerely disagree with this, spare me the example of the rare exception. Lol) personally, I think quick, 5-yards bursts are much more important in the game of football. It's similar to when friends tell me, "So-and-so high school has two linemen who are 6-5/ 295. Akron should sign them." Yeah, well those linemen are fat, not muscle, can't bend @ the waist, can't come off the line, can't move their feet and don't cherish contact. There are so many intangibles to being a good football player. Kid looks plenty fast enough & like a good get. Go Zips!
  11. And as of 1/29 we can add: DT Keontae Hollis, 6'2"/293, Iowa Central C.C. DT LaVonne Gauthney, 6'1"/292, Hargrave Military Academy RB Manny Morgan, 5'8"/180, Naples HS, Naples, FL
  12. I love the Z logo. I wish we could buy official jerseys. I'd also want a grey. (I'd also like a pair of both the black & grey shorts - actually, going to the gym & whatnot, I'd probably end up wearing those more often than the tops. Lol.) And next year and thereafter... GOLD! These blacks w/ the Z are sweet.
  13. The Big East truly is an odd situation. Next year it will be composed almost completely of (former) Conference USA schools.
  14. Joe Dunn mentioned on his show this evening that the matchups weren't going to be released till next Monday.
  15. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission, right?
  16. Priceless! THANK YOU, MamaZeke for caring & sharing!!! Go Zips! On a side note, wow, I can't believe it's been 10 years. I am getting old!
  17. Zach, I can't find hardly any information on WR Deandre Adams. What do you have on him? And, with only 13 schollies to give, this class is shaping up nicely. I'm still holding my breath with DT Keontae Hollis. I guess that he tweeted that he really enjoyed his visit @ U of South Alabama. Though, fortunately, he's still listed as a Zips commit. We need DT's.
  18. IIRC we only have 13 schollies to give, so it's not going to be a very highly-rated class.
  19. I went and saw Aaron Jackson and Gahanna Lincoln play this afternoon @ Walsh. Aaron simply didn't have a good game. He picked up two very early fouls and had three fouls before halftime, so he spent a lot of the first half and third quarter on the bench. Aaron's got a fantastically athletic build. He looks like Jimmy Conyers, only a little bit bigger (and he's four years younger than Jimmy was). He looks to be a good 6'6". He's definitely a winner of the genetic lottery. He's also a very smooth athlete who can handle the ball pretty well and has a pretty smooth stroke from 3. He plays above the rim. I think Aaron finished with 10 points, but again, his foul trouble really kept him from getting into any kind of flow in today's game. So I can't really judge.
  20. Yes, but that information is out-dated. Stockett is no longer a Zips commit. After the (awful) senior season he had, the general conclusion on ZN.o was that Coach Bowden was probably just straight honest with him & told him he'd most likely never see the field at Akron. So Stockett de-committed quite early, as back in November, IIRC and was looking elsewhere (lower division). We picked up Pennsylvania QB Tommy Woodson in his stead.
  21. LZip probably meant Dillard is pretty thin. He is, I believe, 200 lbs., so yeah, he's not "small."
  22. That should do it for LB's for this class with Jerome & Deon'tae giving verbals. Zipmeister should be proud with these two very nice-sized (& fast) LB's. According to Michael Beaven of the ABJ: Jerome Lane 6'5" 210. Deon'tae Moore 6'4 216
