Jerome is signed.

George Thomas on the CMU game. Tree receives huge props from KD: “I thought he came back and played within himself really well,” UA coach Keith Dambrot said of Treadwell. “He’s a big key for us now. We have to have him now. That’s our new Romeo Travis. We don’t have anything that equals him at this point. Treadwell’s our best player. When he got back in the game, it was a huge difference.”

Hmm. Jerome Lane hasn't faxed in yet.

ZipsFB tweet: In Jan. @ZipsFB signed 3 JUCO transfers...Cedric Brittnum (Asa CC in Brooklyn), Donte Williams (Asa), Jon Shelby (Nassau CC) #SigningDay ZipsFB then tweeted: All three are enrolled and will participate in spring practice in April #SigningDay So it sounds as if Jon Shelby will be eligible to play this year, no?

I noticed that as well. However, they have the "Big 6" conferences labeled as "national conferences"and then the MAC in their second-tier of conferences, strangely labeled as "high major."

George Thomas on tonight's CMU game. I love Coach D's wisdom: Point guard Alex Abreu, who had a huge game in Saturday’s win over Ohio in what can be viewed as a statement win to take control of the Mid-American Conference, said after the game that the team deserved more recognition outside the region. Dambrot has little problem with what Abreu said, with a proviso. “You can’t make the statements you made in the newspaper unless you practice as hard as you can,” he said. “You can say those things if you believe them, but you have to follow through.”

New pre-game introduction video

I was wondering. -
Personally, I enjoy worrying about an at-large bid. It makes the regular season more meaningful for me. I also love being in the Top 25 conversation. I say, sure, we'll worry about winning the MACC... when we cross that bridge. But for right now, lets try to put ourselves in the best position to make the tourney regardless. The MACC is always nerve-wracking for me. The ball doesn't always bounce your way; you might lay an egg; your opponent may get incredibly hot; there are so many ways you can lose a single game to a team you'd beat 9-out-of-10 times. Which is why, as an aside, I still don't think we'll go undefeated in the conference. I'm expecting us to drop one.

+1. That was weird.

Come home, Larry! WE MISS YOU TOO!!! On a completely unrelated note, Larry Jr.'s sweatshirt illustrates why I love the grey jerseys (though I wish they were a slightly darker grey). I love the blue, gold & grey color combo. (Plus, it looks good w/ blue jeans.)

Why would the MAC care one way or the other? What does it have to do with the conference schdule?
-
Cleveland media. Everyone knows they despise Akron. (Please don't bother citing the rare exception which proves the rule.) Fortunately, the old guard is dying off. Nobody reads newspapers anymore and hardly anyone watches channels 3, 5 & 9. So the fact they go out of their way to ignore us won't matter much longer. Thank you Al Gore for inventing the internets.

LOTS of thoughts on that! I'm still a bit sick to my stomach we didn't offer him out of high school! IIRC we just didn't have enough available schollies. Come home & represent, Larry! (Revere HS)

I don't think this has been mentioned yet... OU starts 4 Seniors. Meanwhile (and I'm sure everyone else here noticed as well), the Zips were playing 4 FRESHMEN for long stretches of yesterday's game. Crazy. Like Zipdiehard said, "Too big, too deep." Game over. edit: Btw, I meant the Zips had four freshmen on the court at the same time for long stretches of yesterday's game. Melo, Kretzer, McAdams & Forsythe. The future looks bright x4 B) B)

Well said. I noted the same. Ivo Baltic worried me - prior to the tip-off. Last year his athleticism was a difficult matchup for us. He was also a difficult matchup for other teams in last year's NCAA. But Tree just turned Ivo into nothing more than a warm body. Good grief, Tree is beast.

We should probably expect smaller crowds for a weekday game. I know I simply can't make it due to work obligations. But I'm proud of Akron coming out to represent the last two Saturdays! And Joe Akron has been given a great show both nights! Go Zips!

Being at the game, you could clearly see how our length was disrupting both their passing and shooting. Putting 6'8" Harney on Cooper up top was brilliant. Keeley couldn't do anything but pee down his leg against Zeke. Forsythe is going to be a true stud. Tree is simply dominant in an almost scary type of way. Kudos to KD for assembling such a diesel roster.

Clicking on "images!" Good grief, I never thought of that. How simple. Thank you! Tron Jenkins, anyone? -

The authentic black jerseys are going to be fully customizable. I'm thinking of going vintage with mine, perhaps putting Joyce, Travis or Wood (or even Jenkins or Ball - going back to the early-to-mid-90's) on the nameplate. However, I forget what numbers, respectively, these guys wore. Does anyone know where I could locate that information? -
I'm taking a group of kids but am one ticket short. Does anyone have an extra they'd like to sell?

It was reported that authentic jerseys will be $150 and authentic shorts are $110. That's sure not inexpensive, but since I've been complaining about a lack of authentic apparel (for years) I'll be placing an order for one of each! Go Zips! -
No, and he's still listed on the OSU roster.
