I haven't heard an update. I do know he is ineligible to play in Ohio this year, due to his playing @ West Virginia's Huntington Prep. (What a stupid move that was.) He was looking into Firestone before he was ruled ineligible. It's too bad; with Payne on that team they'd be a state title contender.

That's interesting. I see it's against West Virginia. I like it! Get us some extra publicity down in Canton. That'll be a huge deal for Canton. Very cool. I've tossed around the idea for a while now that we should play one basketball game a year in the Canton Memorial Fieldhouse. Kinda make Canton our home away from home. Get that city associating w/ UA.

Now that would be a great location for a new arena; fronting Exchange & next to Cub Cadet Field. Make Canal Park the baseball team's permanent home. On the few occassions there may be a conflict with the Aeros, play @ St. V/M or Summit Lake Park.

Any updates on Eric Truog? Any chance he could be a Zips walk-on? We really need another big body next year. [edit:] He's commited to Marist. (Lame.) Our lack of a big to supplement Zeke & Tree is going to bite us next year.

I take back most of what I stated above. I don't love our particular shade of grey, and I don't hate it. But I love the shade of grey Nike's chosen for these select uni's! They're sweeeeet! Yahoo! article. Slideshow. Totally sick! The shade of grey chosen is a more bold, distinct shade of grey than ours. Again, like Oklahoma State or Washington State's shade of grey. Anyhow, I like the grey uniforms for a few reasons. 1. I like grey. 2. I like alternate uni's. 3. Baseball has always had grey uniforms. 4. Blue, gold & grey is a sharp combo! (When I say gold, I always mean old gold, never yellow!) 5. If adding grey to a school's uniform becomes as commonplace and acceptable as adding black, then basically Columbus State's colors are now just red & white!

This should go in the "Most random references to Akron" thread but I don't know how to find it and have a headache so don't even want to look for it. But... There are two Zippy bobbleheads on the desk of ESPN's Mike & Mike show. One right in front of Golic & another to Greeney's far right.

I'm still disappointed that this year's recruiting class didn't have a post player to help ease the loss of Nic. Last season we were all crossing our fingers Nic would return for another year because we all knew how sparse our numbers were in the post. Nic's return gave us an additional year to bolster our frontcourt through recruiting and we failed to do so.

Those are by far my favorite uni's the Zips have ever donned. Our athletics department truly seems to be often oblivious to the obvious.

Just to frustrate intelligent, articulate folks who actually care about Zips athletics?

OU is toying with WMU. Not even close talent wise. However, WMU is without their big lard arse Stainbrook. [edit:] And, naturally, as soon as I make this post, WMU goes from being doubled-up by OU to being down by only 8. [edit #2:] And it's tied at 30 the half.

If he'd conistently drive without turning the ball over and finish at the rim, of course I'd feel differently about him hanging out around the arc. But sine he doesn't, I wish he'd leave that to our true wings & plant his arse down low where we need him most. As it is, Tree is our only post with a mean streak. I love Zeke, but (just being honest) he is kinda soft. We need Nic's 6'8" & 240lbs. to be banging down low.

Given our plethora of wings and our lack of depth @ 4/5, I'd prefer to see him live in the paint.

I like the grey, of course, I like alternate uni's. It's interesting the article mentioned that the shade of grey, chosen by Nike, is boring. I'm not in 100% agreement with that, but I do feel with the columnist; I prefer a more distinct, bold, darker shade of grey ala Oklahoma State or Washington State. I still know we need old-gold alternates!!! (3 exclamation points! )

I'm feeling the same way right now. Though the final score won't show it, this was an ugly win. Did it look like we were taking that game seriously?
