  1. I'm really close to signing up an ID to refute the jealous OU fool that takes his time to comment on every UA story on Cleveland.com...and then again I love the jealousy.
  2. RPI was given as the reason for why Michigan State wasn't a 1. It matters, but only when the selection committee decides it does. For the big boys.
  3. SYRACUSE! THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
  4. The MAC was determined to be a 1 bid league before the season tipped. If we lose two less, maybe we're on the bubble board with Ohio State. What a joke. Top rpi team to be left out.
  5. Vandy, Michigan and Oregon State are a joke.
  6. I'd rather stagnant and at the top of the league than replace the best coaching staff in the conference just because we haven't taken that "next step." The odds are infinitely greater that Akron would return to the dregs of D1 with a new staff than it taking that "next step." Food for thought: In the 11 seasons pre-Dambrot and regime, the Zips had one sub-200 rpi season. 199 one season in the mid 90s. Tough way to lose, but we have the best staff in the league and one that chooses to stick around.
  7. I agree completely but the NCAA would never, ever allow that to happen. It'd be a miracle to get a home game, let alone vs a P5, let alone OSU.
  8. The biggest challenge with this game is to not look past BG to our potential championship matchup. BG is looking to ignore history and prove themselves. Looking at their boards, they want to "ignore the last 12 years" and beat UA. You can bet their team is thinking the same. I'd love to see a huge lead early and rest for some of the guys who were banged up yesterday (Antino, Reggie, Jake). On the plus side, we're 6-0 vs remaining teams!
  9. Don't know if it's been posted, but www.bracketmatrix.com It takes about one hundred bracketology sites and simulates seeding. They have Akron as a middle 12.
  10. And our RPI jumped to 29
  11. My favorite is Michigan being 3-11 vs the top 100 and still being a "bubble team." They're also 10-11 vs the top 200. But you know, we can't even get a mention.
  12. Found some seats via a friend. I'll be there plus 2 more. Very happy to be able to make it as I was expecting to have to listen on the radio in my office.
  13. Last time I checked, Zips were barely in the top 1/4 of D1 in BPI. The funny thing is, a few years back, the selection committee used RPI as a selection tool but it didn't punish mid and small conferences enough. Now we have BPI, Pomeroy, and Sagarin... all metrics that give big advantages to difficult schedules and major conference teams.
  14. Aren't the cheapest Akron tickets $38? That's not in the budget, especially because I plan on being up there for two more days after today? Might just take my chances with a scalper...
  15. I'll just throw this out there...I just had a meeting cancel at the last minute and am now able to get to the game . Does anyone have any tickets they won't be using and/or know a way to grab some cheapies? I'd like to lend my voice, and I'm pretty loud
  16. Honestly, I'm good with an 12 or better. Looks like the toughest part now is our path to a MAC tournament championship. If we did somehow get an 11, which isn't out of the question, guess who many are projecting to be a 6? None other than Shaka Smart's Texas Longhorns...
  17. Here's a positive: That UWGB doesn't look nearly as bad as it did earlier this year, and the Zips are now 1-1 vs 2016 NCAA tournament participating teams.
  18. Just checked their board and man, both of their fans are PISSED.
  19. The Green Bay/Valpo game was a Horizon semifinal. They'll face the winner of Oakland/Wright State in the Championship. Your point still stands though, all 3 would've seeded below Akron if we win in CLE. Let's just root for GB for RPI purposes. Tonight's results bumped us up to 33, btw.
  20. Aren't the "at-large" teams generally considered 10/11 seeds? Can the selection committee justify not only giving Monmouth a bid, but seeding them that high? If... if...the Zips take care of business in CLE, a 12 or 11 isn't out of the question.
  21. Strike that, reverse it.
  22. http://collegepolltracker.com/basketball/pollster/randy-rosetta/2015/week-18 Thanks Randy Rosetta from New Orleans. Odd.
  23. I think Asheville won, knocking at it High Point who was #1 in the Big South.
  24. Took a gander at realtimerpi.com because they have historical data. Last 3 years, highest rpi ranked teams to not make the tournament were 31, 29, and 34. Not that we could ever be top 30 if we lost another game. Things would've gotten interesting if that Millet debacle hadn't happened.
