  1. Incredibly disappointed that I can't make this game. Hopefully a good crowd and lots of purple. Someone post some pics.
  2. 7/29 on 3s. 17/29 on 2s. That's all you need to know. Missing 3s, no aggressive offense, and this causes the opponents to outshoot us at the ft line as well.
  3. ESPN3 won't be carrying the game, unfortunately. Only the 16 people who receive CBSSN will be able to watch.
  4. Side note regarding those watching the polls: Arkansas Little Rock is now 14-1, with the sole loss being to Texas Tech by a dozen. They have some decent wins (ECU, DePaul, San Diego State), and even with the gaudy record can't sniff a vote in the polls. So, it could be worse. This has been your "glass half-full" post of the day.
  5. Two road games over struggling MAC preseason favorites. Regardless, go 2-0 this week and it may open the eyes of some AP voters (Zips again got just one 25th place vote in the 1/11 polls). Zips have performed pretty well in McGuirk over the years (Savage Hall on Friday is a different story...). I still worry the Chipps could "find it" against a team like Akron that carries a target on its back, but I think the Zips handle this one and go into Friday at Toledo on an 11 game streak. Zips 87 Chipps 78
  6. Tell me about Vegas again? Zips up 11 after Kwan's 3. Insane.
  7. Western has to be approaching 20 offensive boards. Atrocious.
  8. Zips had 23 points at the 11 min mark. 27 now with 2 min to go in the half...
  9. Just was about to post this. Looks like our Zips aren't that far out of the national spotlight. We have a very difficult first few weeks of our conference schedule. Hopefully everyone is healthy. If the Zips happen to start 6-0 in conference, and that's asking a lot with games at Buffalo, CMU and Toledo, we'll be close to the top 25 again. Ironically, we play at Buffalo tomorrow, the place where we got knocked down after our first top 25 appearance. Dig deep tomorrow, Zips!
  10. We're really not anywhere near the national conversation at all. Only way that happens is if we are undefeated with a Nova win under our belts. Now if we start the MAC season 10-0 and get to 22-2 or something, people will pay attention, cupcakes and all.
  11. If the Zips can continue to win into the first half of the MAC season, especially at Buffalo and at Toledo (two places we struggle, regardless of the strength of the opponent), then I'll start talking 30 wins. That being said, if the Zip are in the 29-30 win area, they're not getting passed up. With a winning streak of that magnitude, they're in the teens of the top 25 and would be an at-large lock.
  12. If those darn Canadians would've won their finale, it would've been 8.
  13. What a great group of kids. Listening to the post-game on the way home had me more than a little misty, especially Jatavis' interview with Joe Dunn. Neither could keep their emotions in check. These guys have a lasting legacy now and I couldn't be happier. Most were with us for the lowest of lows and now get to head out on the highest of highs (so far!). Congratulations Zips football senior class, you've made us all proud.
  14. Utah State fans have shown nothing but class, at least the few that have shown up here. Thanks for taking the time to post and best of luck next year. The Aggies are a team I'd love to see on our schedule down the road for a home & home. And let me say, if Akron were to be anywhere close to the success of the 2012-2014 Utah State Aggies (30 wins), I think Zipsnation will be a VERY happy place.
  15. One last comment. Anyone coming to the UA/Downtown area, come join us at the Score draft room on Exchange across from Infocision. We need people to give high fives to. And no, I don't know anyone tied to that bar, they're just very pro-Zips and I think we should support that.
  16. Or just turn on private/incognito browsing.
  17. Not worth wiping your ass with. The beacon is unable to innovate, like most newspapers, and is well on its way to the scrap heap like the rest. It is only a matter of time.
  18. Reminds me of Miami's Millet Hall, except smaller...and brighter.
  19. I'm not sure this is worth a new thread, but where is everyone watching the game? I see the U had endorsed Johnny J's in the valley as the "official" spot. Myself and about 3-4 friends are going to watch at the Score across from the stadium. If you haven't been, join us. Good food, decent beer selection and very pro-Akron.
  20. One of our usual cupcakes, Arkansas-Little Rock is 7-0 and in the top 10. That would've been a choke-worthy cupcake.
  21. If I had a chance to quadruple my salary and move to the southeast, I'd be all over it.
  22. Reading this, I was surprised that Tulane is an upgrade over MAC level schools. They're willing to start at a $1.7 million salary, so it's not really even close.
  23. I bet the rest of the MAC coaches just base their salaries for next year.
  24. According to the bracket, we'll take the winner of Wake/Stanford. Lots of fun to watch that ending, even though I had to mute my tablet because the audio was about 5-7 sec ahead of the video.
  25. In game situations, the guy is a true freshman. I get that eligibility-wise he's technically not. The kid has played a few games in the first year of his D-1 career, in addition to sitting out a couple that with a knee that may or may not be fully healed. He adds something to the team along the lines of Deji as in his senior year. It's way too early to be calling kids "wastes of a scholarship." He'll be fine, but I'll agree I hope he doesn't take until his sr year to develop to his whole potential like Deji (or, another comparative, Jimmy Conyers).
