  1. I feel absolutely terrible the way Warren Ball's career has ended. I made the trip to BG and was probably about 100' away from the play where he got injured. My heart sunk for the guy. That being said, and maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think he was any sort of world-beater at RB for us. Maybe that's him, maybe that's on the O-line, or both. I think we'll be OK with Manny Morgan and Van Edwards. Small sample size, but thus far they're averaging 4.0 ypc vs Ball's 4.4. The key to this game is Woodson and his continued shaking of rust. We need 250+ out of him.
  2. Stats just flashed in the screen here at BG. Zips with one penalty for 5 yards. Things could be worse.
  3. Warren Ball just broke his leg.
  4. Number of penalties should be part of 3 for Thursday before homecoming. If we don't beat ourselves to the tune of 180 yards in penalties, we win this easily. At least I hope, since I'm making the drive to my first road game in about 5 years.
  5. Thanks @Hilltopper and @ZipsVoice. They hooked me up. Looking forward to my first game at BG and seeing the Zips drought end...
  6. Actually the game opened as a PK and now has moved to Akron (-3). Clearly someone thinks we'll win... Yikes. Myself and 5 friends are making the trip to BG for the game. I tried getting a hold of athletics to get some tickets in the "Akron section," but haven't been able to get an answer. Anyone have any ideas on that?
  7. Bad, bad, bad football. Off it goes. I'll check this thread periodically while I watch a movie.
  8. Been quiet on the Bowden fight, but it's time for a regime change. Bad football, undisciplined. Ugly.
  9. Vegas opened giving the Zips 14.5, and it's pushed up to 15.5 to 16 in most places taking bets. This game reminds me of the Louisiana game a couple years ago, I think the outlook was similar. Hopefully the result is the same...
  10. They used to have a family plan that was about $150 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Wish that was still around. Not that I'm that cheap, just that it's hard to justify tickets for 4 and 2 year olds.
  11. Hey friend.

    We miss you.

  12. Only line I can find right now is Akron (-48.5), which is insane.
  13. The 2019 schedule, if it holds, will fit your mold exactly: @Illinois vs UAB vs Troy 4th game will probably be a home vs FCS.
  14. Wasn't this Penn State game announced back when they were destroyed from the scandal? They certainly weren't a top 10 program when the game was scheduled. I doubt anyone thought they'd recover to this point, this quickly.
  15. Picked the middle ground on all of these because I think we see reserves playing much of the 2nd half for the opposite reason as last week. I could see Ball going for 120+ if he can break off a few big runs, and that could be in one half of work.
  16. While I'll agree that average record isn't the best of indicators, I was using previous season records to develop those averages. Creighton and Gonzaga weren't top 10 teams in 2015-2016, Gonzaga ended up 21st and Creighton unranked. My point was more that everyone will see what they want to see, but there is not significant statistical difference between the two schedules. Now next year, when our transfer talent is available and the staff has a full year with the players, I'll be looking for a significant upgrade (if it is possible).
  17. Ok, I know everyone on here likes to whine about everything. I'll admit, in the past some of Dambrot's schedules didn't challenge some of our best teams. But if you bitched about past schedules, you should equally bitch about this one. A brief analysis of non-conf: 2016-2017 opponents average record prior season: 16.7W-16.4L 2017-2018 opponents average record prior season: 17.3W-15.4L Now the 17-18 averages could go up, should the Zips upset USC to face MTSU (31-5), Princeton (23-7), etc, but are more likely to go down if they hit the loser's side (Davidson 17-15, Hawaii 14-16). Reserve judgment until next year when the staff has a full year to put together a schedule, and realize even then it's a crapshoot because of team personnel changes.
  18. Ran a quick search, and the press release for the 16/17 schedule came out on 8/23/16, so we're right on par.
  19. I just like lurk and read all or you fighting about why there were 8,304 fans instead of 11,215 fans at the 3rd home game 2 seasons ago. And what we can do increase that number to 15,171. Oh, and the JAR is crappy.
  20. @Penn State: We'll stay in this one for the first 15 minutes or so. Let's stay healthy (as much as I hate to say that). Loss 10-35 Arkansas-Pine Bluff: Beautiful Day, embarrassing home crowd to open the season. Fun game to watch. Win 55-6 Iowa State: Crap shoot. Fun and improving team to have in town. I'll be optimistic. Win 28-24 on a last minute TD. @Troy: Borderline Top-25 team this year. If this was at home, we'd have a puncher's chance. Loss 17-38 @Bowling Green: The MAC opener will decide how the season goes. Drop to 2-3 (or potentially 1-4) here and disaster is around the corner. Zips dropped by BG in a slugfest. 45-56 Ball State: Very winnable game. Has the first 5 taken its toll? Zips eek one out in the MAC Home opener, 35-31 @Western Michigan: Brutal. New coach, still a good team. 20-38 Loss @Toledo: Equally Brutal. Can't stop Toledo's offense. 17-45 Loss Buffalo: Glad this one is at home or things could get really ugly. Hopefully this isn't one of those "games we should win" that we don't. Win UGLY 17-9 *Bye Week @Miami: Miami's improved, but not top of the MAC like a lot think. Another game we'd have a shot at home. Still close. 21-27 Loss Ohio: The MAC East is bad. Really bad. These guys aren't good, but are probably the best of em. I'd like to say this is the year we finally beat them. Can't. 6-20 Loss. Kent: Well..its a win? Like I said, the East is bad. Kent is TERRIBLE, even for them. Closer than it looks, but thanks to a couple late TDs, we win 56-35. Another 5-7 Season. Not sure where we go from here. The schedule is brutal, getting arguably 3 of the best 4 MAC teams on the road plus a very good Troy and Penn State teams away as well. I think we have a ceiling of 7-5, a floor of 3-9. Anything outside of that would shock me. Go Browns.
  21. The current SD video boards are 7.5' x 10' so this should be a pretty remarkable difference. Also, UA needs to update THIS.
  22. No way beer is offered at the JAR prior to some major renovations. Those bleachers are nearly un-navigable stone sober.
  23. I've heard this guy is likely a walk-on. Pretty crazy to pull a walk-on from Texas.
  24. http://southkentschool.org/athletics/athletic-teams/prep-basketball Actually doesn't seem to be a walk-on, all the way from Texas and a blue-chip prep program. I guess we'll hear soon.
  25. I just saw this via twitter another 2016 commit. Dalton looks like a versatile G/F who averaged about 18/5/3 for his HS career. Not much out there on major recruiting sites. Anyone know anything? Are we 2-3 schollies over?
