And wouldn't ya know it as soon as I say that Alex turns it over and gives up an and 1. I thought the foul was well before the shot. What are these NBA refs? My thoughts also. That was one heck of a continuation. Karma made the and 1 go front rim.

This defense comes out for 40 minutes a game, and we're undefeated for this upcoming road trip. SUFFOCATING.
-
I'll tell you one thing, Detroit will not win the Horizon championship. They are nowhere near on par defensively with CSU, or even YSU. They'll score well with their two studs, but they lack any form of perimeter defense.
-
I think every Zips fan watching this game said the same thing. Especially against a guy who is a solid defender in Holman. As far as Zeke...man, I don't know if he's instructed to pop out and defend the perimeter in the zone, but he's just not quick enough with those long pointy knees and elbows, especially when the opposing Gs are fast like tonight. Another silly foul picked up in that fashion tonight.

Well, right off the bat...Alex Abreu starts. Interesting.

I think we should do it. But leave western division at 6 teams and increase eastern division to 8 teams. Would help make the MAC unique. 14 teams? There are parallels here.
-
Let's see if they rule this fumble and incomplete pass as well. MAC officials have unlimited screw ups...especially in crunch time.
-
What an AWFUL call at a critical time. We can still blow it. Only in the MAC could a quarterback have the ball in his non throwing arm, get the ball slapped out, and then determine they have conclusive evidence that it was a forward pass. Ridiculous.

at least our vaunted kicking tandum is graduating. Could Igor have missed those two XPs on purpose? Sure looked that way. Do we have anyone that can kick as an underclassman? I suppose it couldn't be worse..

I don't know if anyone else is watching this mess, but wow is it like watching a bad high school game. I have no optimism toward this program whatsoever. Very depressing.

I've resigned myself to the couch to watch this one. Knowing my luck, I'd get pneumonia watching the 12th loss of the year. How about K-ent knocking of OU? Phew...Miami from 1 win to (somewhat illegitimate) MAC East Champs. I think NIU rolls them in Detroit, but still good for them on the turnaround.

This game (like Dayton) was won on the glass. In addition, CSU played MUCH better defense than the Zips. Did you see how they completely took away the 3 ball with their perimeter defense? I think we attempted 3 or 4 from behind the arc that entire 20 minutes. We seemed lost when we played the inside-out game with Zeke and then the perimeter shots were not only covered well, but we were unable to get off an attempt for the most part. McClanahand was again one of the only reasons we were in the game. It appears that he and Zeke are the only ones able to create their own shot. I think QD has that ability and will eventually gain that confidence that's needed to open those lanes driving to the rim. I'm confident that this team will gel and be another solid squad under KD, but man these next 4 games on the road are going to be ROUGH. We could be 2-6 before coming home to face the mighty Bethune Cookmans. How will the team handle adversity? I'm not sure that any of the guys have ever been below .500 in college, let alone 4 games under. Still optimistic, but dimmed slightly.

LeBron to distribute 700 Thanksgiving meals
RowdyZip replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
Last time I checked, Akron and Cleveland were the same pro sports market. Unless, I guess, you identify more with the folks of Appalachia like some Akronites do. Heck, most of those folks imitate mountain folk in appearance and accent. -
Hmmm...I wonder if that accurately represents total season ticket holders? They couldn't have sold more than 100 walkup seats. Oh, and the low point of the evening? Not the 4th quarter INT nor the game ending fumble. It was at about 10 last night when I fast forwarded through the DVR and found out neither myself nor my paper bag made an appearance on espnu.

Congrats on the PR 'Bron. This is the monetary equal of you or I giving a handful of change to that guy on the street. -

45% on 3s, 6 turnovers...90% from the line... 38-24 on the boards. There's your deciding stat. -
Tailgating? That's not tailgating....BW3's is for pre basketball games. We'll pretend it's basketball. Except, if it WERE basketball, I wouldn't be contemplating not going to the game at all.

I believe I read that the game is being aired in its entirety on the alternate FS Ohio channel. According to foxsportsohio.com, the alternate channel for Time Warner in the Cleveland area (including Akron) is 310. Thanks for the info on TWC alternate channel. I'd given up after searching for "College Basketball." Channel 310 says a continuous "Data Not Available" on it's portion of the guide. Nicely written preview. I even chuckled a couple times. I did laugh out loud at an exchange in the comments: Guy one: My prediction is two Martinis and 3 Miller Lites for THIS guy! Guy two: Martinis and Miller Lights, really? Translation: "I like nice things in my house. Please poop in my mouth."

Likely tailgating at BW3....

Mike Waddell was fantastic for the University from a PR prespective. Got to know him fairly well through the old Zips Live at Spaghetti Warehouse. Never had the chance to meet Mike Thomas. I was also a big fan of Mack from the PR side. He came up and introduced himself to myself and some friends (a bunch of 20-somethings) at the 2007 MACC pregame basketball party. Even took the time to talk a little and clink beer bottles and thank us for coming. One would think social skills are necessary for a D1 AD, not just donor a$$ kissing. I've seen Youboob several times downtown as I hike the 4 blocks from my parking lot to work. He's always out for a run, and despite a smile and "hi" from me, I don't even get so much as a smirk or head nod.

That's quite a thread, with predictions ranging from a 15-20 point blowout by UD to a couple folks predicting a Zips win. I think it's a close game, and a tough first "test" for the Zips. Dayton 74 Akron 77

I too love Thunderstruck. Gets me pumped up for the game. Plus the crowd seems to respond. Hated the choice of GNR'S "Welcome to the jungle." Too quiet. On the thunderstruck note, when I hear that in the off season it gets me pumped for bball. Plus it sounds good on the JAR PA.

I think $10 is a perfectly fair general admission price for a program in the shape of the Zips right now. That's what people in Akron pay to see AA Baseball at Cannal Park. Start winning? Raise the prices...follow the Jacobs Field Model. I have made the difficult decision NOT to be back as a football season ticket holder. Perhaps my 3 Reserved seat $$ goes to soccer tickets, or perhaps an upgrade to reserved at the JAR. All I know is that I work way too hard for my money to support a program that I see ZERO progress being made with. It's just my opinion, and I wish I felt differently. Start putting up some Ws and I may catch a game or two next year...and maybe eventually be back to buy for the season. For now, though, I'm content to watch the Zips lose from my comfy couch.
